US reimposes sanctions on Venezuela’s oil and gas sectors over election concerns

- The US has reinstated oil sanctions against Venezuela's government, arguing it has not met conditions to hold fair and competitive elections as negotiated with US envoys and the opposition last year.
However, the US oil company Chevron will be allowed to continue a joint venture with the Venezuelan state oil company.

Venezuelans in the world are poor refugees who hate and curse Nicolás Maduro who stole their beautiful Venezuela. As there are many Iranian refugees who curse the ayatollahs. The exact same story. Venezuela signed an agreement in Barbados to hold free and fair elections. Pakistan didn't have such agreements. That's the difference. Pakistan didn't have standards to uphold.

I thought the sanctions were imposed because Venezuela posed a "security risk" to the US. Given that the US president can impose sanctions only for national security reasons are these sanctions even legal under US law? Or are we in a post rule of law phase?

My country which is close to Venezuela signed a gas deal with them however America assume us that this gas deal will not be affected but the problem is shell that is involved in the deal will not be able to use venezuelan contractors which could delay the work
