    The Triumph Stagg is one of my favorite British built cars, the Rover P5B, Jensen Interceptor, and Jaguar XJC V12 and TR6 being the others, I've never actually seen a Stagg here in the States, although a Stagg would look good here with the top down in the California sun.....nice car bro, looks and sounds fantastic...🤘🏻🇺🇸

    Glad I watched this. I recently bought a Stag which is presently undergoing an engine overhaul. I will be fitting the same mods to the cooling system as the position of the original temperature gauge sensor and high mounted water pump were problematic. However these simple mods will overcome those issues and make the car as reliable as it should be. Thank you.

    I found using Castrol Magnatec cured the timing chain rattle on startup. The hydraulic tensioners on the timing chains take a while to build up pressure and sometimes stick. Nice example and lovely colour

    Good job so far and looking great! How about a video on how you found this car and what potential new owners should be looking out for before buying. 😎

    Very nice motor. I had a 1975 model from 92 to 97 that had been fitted with a blueprinted 3L V6 engine. Loved to drive the car but it was a bit thirsty and had an indecisive auto box. I often wonder how the model would have fared if it had been fitted with the Buick 3.5L engine alresdy being used by BL in the rover. Still its a car with a lot of style.

    Very nice car, engine sounds great too, the changes you've made are brilliant and very practical, the dash looks gorgeous a touch of class for sure, when the engine was rebuilt did the company fit a free flow exhaust manifold ? Monarch produce one for the Stag 3.0 and it gives an extra 10% power output, a no brainer for anyone needing to repair or replace a broken manifold in a stag, costs £565 but when you consider you get the extra power and increased mpg to boot, means the outlay would be returned over time !

      Thanks for that. A free flow exhaust is one of the other mods I have considered for some time.

    You say you replaced the wood veneer.Does look great! Am I right in thinking that it is now BURR WALNUT, and was originally just STRAIGHT GRAIN?

    • @stevemetcalf3304
      @stevemetcalf3304  2 года назад +2

      Yes it was just standard straight grain. Bought the dash from the walnutdash.com people

    Walnut dash is far better looking than the old standard fitting.

    Nice car, the colour doesn’t look quite like the Emerald Green I remember from my friend Dave and my sister’s Mk IV Spitfires...
    I have to say I HATE the steering wheel, I never understand why some owners think they can “improve” on the classy sporty original. At least you haven’t fitted “Minilite” replica alloys ! (Yet ?)

    • @stevemetcalf3304
      @stevemetcalf3304  3 года назад +1

      Its close to Emerald Green as its been resprayed some time ago and I have bought some Emerald Green touch up paints from different suppliers. I have also bought some colour matched paint for future re-spraying. Regarding the Steering Wheel the leather/plastic gripp was coming loose, its a nearly 50 year old car. Do you own a Stag?

      @@stevemetcalf3304 well I MYSELF DO like the colour! It's amazing how people could fight over what the best colour is - the Stag has such a wide range of colours, and each one seems to bring out different aspect of the Stags character!

      @@nygelmiller5293 It was the official updates
      Where the upgrades in spec and styling ( very minor on the Stag models) were introduced..and were officially denoted by serial number ranges; let me explain..
      LD1-3900 = Sanction 1
      LD10,000 onwards = Sanction 2
      LD20,000. “”” = sanctions 3
