it would have been good to have a conclusion at the end, EG: whats other oils is it very similar too and what are the price differances?
Would U mind please to clarify the right viscosity of fully synthitic oils that can I used if temperature reach 50c in the summer and 10c in the winter .by the way,I use 10W-40 but and my friend use 0W-50 and both Hilux desil toyota 2020 are fine .He thinks he is right and so am I, so what do you advise us?
0w50 waste of money and too thick for a 2020 Hilux in my opinion.
I recommend standard 5w40 or 10w40 oil for your climate.
Do Kirkland oil now.
Great suggestion
So can I put it in a first Gen Tacoma?
We are not here to recommend specific brands. We provide information so consumers can make educated decisions.
Walmart Oil? I know a ton of guys use it
I didn't know you could buy oil without moly or boron.
There are lots of oils without either of those additives.
@@themotoroilgeek Honestly had no idea. I'm running pennzoil ultra plat 0w40 with a moly additive in my hemi. It seems to help with valve train noise. I ran the regular amazon stuff in my s10 for about 100 miles. Engine seemed louder then it was with 3000 mile old castrol edge.
Amazon makes an oil for direct injection?
I’m sure they have an API SP formula oil (for Direct Injection).
@@themotoroilgeek why is this post called amazon basics?
@@Surrealblues because that is the name of the oil.
Why doesn't VW have lspi issues? ? ? ?
LSPI can happen to any DI engine. The tendency and severity is due primarily to the injector location. Also, the higher ZDDP levels help reduce LSPI tendency.
@@themotoroilgeek 👍
oh they do my friend
EA888 loves to blow out ringlands because of LSPI.
BMW has LSPI too 😢
All’s I can say is it will destroy a 2013 KIA direct injection engine yeah learned that hard way and kia won’t fix it
No it wont, what destroys it is lack of oil changes and not checking your oil.
Direct injection gasoline engine *
they burn oil ...
Do 10w-30 pleeeease :-)
We have a 5W-30 video coming soon…
@@themotoroilgeek sweet! Thank you!
Mineral oil? No good! Change frequently. 3000 kilometers at at the most.
i went 5k miles ..... the car now has 176k miles and still going
@@ACommenterOnRUclipsWith synthetics 5000 miles may be ok, with mineral oil change more frequently.
My motto is: Frequency beats quality.
Better change cheaper oil frequently than letting expensive oil in for a long period.
@@ralfrufus6573 every car i have owned has used conventional oil since day 1
My uncles hyundai tuscon has 195k miles and has been on conventional oil since day one and it was changed every 5k miles ...
Even my high hp weekend cars get conventional oil ...
I wont pay extra $$ for synthetic ...
I realize I'm a year late to this video, but what did I just watch? I don't understand all the techno babble. The video didn't even answer the question "Is it any good?" At least not in plain English.
He said that you should probably not use it in a DI engine.
"European spec"? Why is this a thing and why does it matter at all? Who cares?
Autobahn and small engines require other oil formula than for slow revving big blocks in the states.
All Convention oils are good and all Synthetic are bad to me.
Long intervalls bad, short intervalls good. Change oil frequently and you are on the save side.
So.basically its garbage and should be avoided.
I think you read the Bible too literally. Vote Republican so you don’t have to think. And, you won’t need to vote again either. Oh, if watching this left you lost, don’t worry. We can all understand why

Do the COSTCO oil next!
I think another channel did a test, Walmart Supertech, Costco & Amazon all same stuff. Good oil for the price
@@chrisb9478 Costco oil is Warren also
Walmart super tech Amazon basics, and Kirkland oil are all made by the same company. it’s the same product down to the last drop.
And Sam's club
@@Justacogg The car makers have pushed the standards for motor oils very high. If an oil meets the current certification, then it is a very good quality oil. Not all oil are created equal, but all currently certified motor oils are very good quality. I am not brand loyal to any certain oil any longer, I simply shop for good deals on certified oils.
Been running Warren oils for decades and full synth versions for over a decade with Wix regular/Napa Gold filters till about 6-6500. Blackstone reports are great..
The fact that you use Blackstone oil Analysis is proof that you prefer science fact over marketing. I applaud you sir.
Since GDI turbo engines are more common now and many are using cheap mineral and semi synthetics, i would greatly appreciate if you can do a clip on the suitability of full synthetics for such engines . Pretty pls.😄
Some people are not putting cheap mineral oils into their GDI cars.
Have you thought about the Costco Kirkland oil?
It’s pretty much the same oil
I’d like to see the work up on the Costco oils too.
Any great "full" synthetic motor oil is good. I use Liqui Moly specific viscosity oils in my 2023 Lexus hybrid and 2019 Volvo. No issues and it's just a matter of me and the two specific vehicle mechanics agreeing on using Liqui Moly and OEM oil filters for those vehicles. The choice is yours and remember to change your oil & filter every 5,000 miles or six-months, whichever comes first. Why, because like Scotty Kilmer and The Car Care Nut (YT) say, oil & filters are cheap, engines are expensive. 🤔
Oil is cheap compared to engines!
My built motor mazdaspeed6 has only ever ran supertech walmart 5w-30 and amazonbasics 5w-30 full synthetic for both with 3k or sooner OCIs. Car has catch cans so i believe that helps keep the engine cleaner. Some day id like to port inject into the intake and have a really clean burner.
Methanol injection
Would love to see an analysis of Walmart Supertech synthetic oil.
From what I've read online Amazon Basics Full Synthetic and Walmart Supertech Full Synthetic are the same oil from Warren oil. Warren makes a lot of house branded engine oils.
@@TheLionAndTheLamb777I’m thinking also that the Costco Kirkland brand oil also falls into the Warren category.
It does.

Wish you give a little more opinion on the oils and mention what application the aforementioned should be used in
Would like to see what you think of costco's kirkland brand oil, would assume close to this Amazon oil?
Can you do a discussion about the new 0W16 and 0W20 oils? Toyota has a 0W16 made by Mobil, with 10x the level of moly in it. Interestingly, the Mobil equivalent off the shelf does not have this much moly. I think their 0W20 is the same way. Nice that they do that, but I still don't trust this trend to lighter oils. I think they want to have engines breaking down sooner.
Interesting idea! I might do that. My wife’s Toyota van uses 0W-20.
@@themotoroilgeek Also, some people have noted that replacing the oil with 0w30 (such as Mobil ESP) results in much quieter operation and an increase in fuel economy. I would be curious to see some testing on this, though I do not have one of these vehicles.

For my old Toyota 1uz and 2uz v8s I only run a3/b4 euro oil. It’s what my engines were intended to use with older API specs back in the 90s. Not this new age api SP crap

Different oils won't change your coolant temp by any appreciable amount. Fuel pressure to a carb has no effect on the mixture as long as it's high enough to keep the bowls full and low enough to not overwhelm the needles.

As a European I stick to 40 grade. Autobahn and small engine is the reason.
