  • We pre trip the Sunday Rant and find unlocked tandems on the trailer. That's fun! Don't drive next to a truck. I will discuss this on the podcast as well. I don't understand some drivers. It is scary to think about what might be traveling our highways.

Red tagging or a quick note on the pigtail hatch is proper trucker etiquette 😊

Proper driver etiquette ????LOL most of these clowns would not even leave a note for their mother if they knew she would be the next driver to pull that trailer

I had a trailer where someone replaced the rear lights and miswired them so only the right turn light worked as a brake light. I put a sign on it saying it didn't work and called it in to breakdown and someone still took it and I haven't seen it again since😂

I see the dock "spread" at least once a week in my travels. Hasn't anyone heard of bridge law? C'mon back.

Maybe they need to do like the RXR does and have defect detectors placed strategically along the roads when a truck passes by a alert would go out and the autoumonus voice would say NO DEFECTS NO DEFECTS and the voice would note the date & time

The valves get stuck because of salt intrusion. A screw driver behind the button will force it out. But sooner or later the button breaks. A stuck valve should go to the shop, but most companies don't pay drivers for that. They just loose time without being paid. When I worked for Swift most of the reefers we inherited from Central Refrigerated had this problem.

I've had my dispatch try to bully me into things and I think that's where a lot of problems begin. A lot of people don't have any backbone or don't stand up for themselves and they just run a illegal because dispatch says that they're allowed to.

Doesn't surprise me a bit. I would bet at least half of the trailers pulled by larger trucking companies have deficiencies that would put them out of service. Could be something simple as a taillight, brakes, tires, but they almost all have deficiencies that are usually ignored because each driver doesn't want to take the time or lose the time to have it fixed. When I was driving over the road, I drop and hooked I'll load each day, and at least half of the time, I would have to repair the lights before I could hit the road. Might be as simple as a lightbulb, sometimes I had to do extensive rewiring of the brake and tail lights. You know that at least nine out of 10 of those trailers the problem existed when the last driver pulled it, but they either chose to ignore it or didn't even notice it.

I worked with a company we macro in and they will get a tech to it prior to next pickup to keep things moving. Component no matter. I did keep a slew of parts and tricks to get by until i had a chance to do it permanent at a shop. Because, human nature, at inception dudes felt like they’d be telling on themselves.

No bridge law in ohio, michagan, and Kentucky. Bridge law in Illinois and indiana. If i am at a good weight i leave em back where its legal to especially in chittty weather or empty. I do make sure the pin are locked tho.

Make a Video about Drivers who do a drop/hook and go to check for MTYs and there are several but one has a flat Tire and so he takes another one but never calls it in to Breakdown and just passes the Buck to the next poor slob. Im at a different company now and all we have to do is push a macro and put in the Trailer number and brief explanation of what the issue is with it and hit send. Dispatch will transfer that info to Breakdown and they will get a repair guy to come out and fix it. Quick and easy.

Drivers dump trailers in need of repair all the time. Most are lazy, but a lot of it has to do with electronic logs eating into your time.

I do not work if I am getting paid zero. I would do the same thing. Turn in a work ticket, for sure. But wait for service! Question mark not a chance in hell. That is why I love being an hourly worker. I get paid to take a crap!

Yep! Don't bother ever checking tire pressures thats not necessary lol at least half the trailers I've picked up in my career had low or extremely high tire pressures but drivers just hit em and say "i gUeSs iT hAs air in it!" 🤪

I don't drive anywehre near trucks either because of how many idiots out there from what I've seen, people are incredibly stupid to ride next to trucks as long they do! No Common sense.
& unlocked tandems, I hate that, that's the laziest thing ever when drivers just leave em like that and or run with it like that. Used to see it all the time as a yard spotter. certain people in our country take disgustingly stupid shortcuts and feel entitled to.
And they know that there's zero accountability for this nonsense so they keep doing it and nothing ever happens because of this stupid woke world we live in

Mark. What do you mean you don't understand? Aren't you paying by rhe hour? The guy to pull that trailer wasn't and he doesn't get breakdown pay, plus he is from Afghanistan and urgently needs to send money home. Unlocked tandems means nothing to him

  • @SanDmaNTheFreakTrucker

It’s a financial situation, not a matter of training. There is no pay incentive for drivers to waste their time getting a trailer repaired. If companies would pay for ALL a driver’s work…we wouldn’t have any issues. I’m not saying it’s okay, only that I understand it. Slavery has been illegal since 1885 and I guess trucking companies didn’t get the memo.
