    OMG for years I've been waiting for someone like YOU to EXPLAIN the prepatory phases of what inversions and postures like these (that have baffled and intimidated the hell out of me for years) and I just nailed this posture! I love you! Heart of gratitude for your presence and the gifts of your ability to articulate poses.

    This was a really excellent video. There are many yoga instructors on YOUTube who are not really teaching anyone anything but just showing off that they know how to do a difficult pose. But you actually break things down step by step and are actually teaching something. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

    OMG. What a GREAT video on EPK2! Thinking of it as a backbend all makes sense now. My teacher usually has us enter this from lizard pose too, and I always find it hard to externally rotate the front leg from there, never have lift-off, etc etc. I found it weird because EPK1 lift-off is pretty much effortless. Gonna try out what I learnt tomorrow. Thanks Shana!!

    THANKS so much Shana, this is the video i've been searching for ages! I've been struggling with this pose for 2 years and still couldn't figure out how to get my back foot off the ground, so I've pretty much given up. Definitely gonna try your suggestions and thanks for making me feel hopeful again!

    • @2010feifei
      @2010feifei 10 лет назад

      shana meyerson Hi Shana, I tried your suggestions but it certainly wasn't as easy as it looked on you...:-( I felt very heavy once I put my leg on my arm, perhaps that's when i lost the connection with my core? (I want to engage my core but i don't know how once i got into that position!) The way I was taught in class was usually entering from lizard pose : wriggle shoulder under the front leg then shift forward into Chaturanga arms, and straighten the front and back legs immediately. Is that suppose to be easier for someone without enough core strength?

    • @YOGAthletica
      @YOGAthletica  10 лет назад

      either one is a fine entry. i like coming from dog because it is easier to "cheat" the back leg/hip upwards.
      if your leg feels heavy, it's one of three things (1) you are not melting your chest/backbending, (2) you are dropping your back hip, or (3) your body weight is not shifting forward enough. [or (4) any combination of 1, 2, and 3].
      if you want to post a video here, i'm happy to look at it and tell you what's going on. also, videotaping yourself is a great way to literally see what is going on in your body so you can fix it. :)

    • @2010feifei
      @2010feifei 10 лет назад

      Thanks again for the tips. Videotaping is a good idea, let me see if I can get someone to help me do this since the only equipment I have is my cell phone... BTW, my teacher taught another way to transit into Koundinyasana today : by hooking one leg up on shoulder, lifting up the other leg (like in Astavakrasana) and shift weight forward, while lifting hip up like crazy, bend the knee of back leg, roll forward and extend it back. Since I can almost do Astavakrasana, so this move seems to make sense for me! Geeze, this pose is fun because it seems to have the element of many other poses.

    • @YOGAthletica
      @YOGAthletica  10 лет назад

      you can actually also enter directly from astavakrasana! not sure if you've seen that video...? ruclips.net/video/meizGcM4MrE/видео.html (be sure to watch to the end).
      there are always a lot of different ways to enter all poses!

    hi shana! thank you very much again for a very well explained video! if i go forward and lean forward, wouldn't that damage the shoulder as then the shoulders would be pointing at a downward angle? since its chaturanga arms, i thought its always shoulders parallel to floor. thanks in advance!

    • @YOGAthletica

      +W Tan great question. even though the shoulders are moving forward (and possible angling down) in space, they are still rolling back and down your back to keep them safe. :)
