I watched the video just for that reason almost a really suspense filled 10 minutes and relief to see her put on that trailer. Not too many months ago a guy scored one of my dreams. A 59 Apache pickup. A couple from NY moved to our area and they must have put the thing out front late at night on the weed infested lawn of their once abandoned house. My pal Bert was on his way too work when he slammed on the brakes nearly hitting the truck ended up straddling the driveway. There was FREE sign in the window. Yes I said free. Bert spent 15min on the phone telling his boss how sick in bed he was and had to ah go to the doctor I mean call AAA to get the truck home. The friggin keys were in it too. Bert said he passed by the evening before about 7pm and the truck wasn't sitting there. When he did make contact with the couple hours after it was safe behind locked doors inside Berts garage. The couple said it had no title it was sitting under a collapsing carport behind a barn and they knew someone might want it. Bert gave em a $100 bucks he was so over joyed. Some people pay big money for them old Chevy trucks and this one is not in terrible rotted out shape in fact I nearly fainted when I saw how nice it really is even the front seat is still ok.
The car was a 58 Savoy, someone put Belvedere trim on it at one point in its life... as for the bumpers they are all the same for every model. You are thinking of the optional "bumper wings" which were available on every model. No such thing as a "Fury" specific bumper.
Mr. Casey: Cunningham did repperton here pull a knife on you? Cunningham:Yea Mr Casey: empty your pockets buddy Mr Casey: Fuck i will you can't make me Mr Casey: you mean i don't have the authority your wrong you mean i can clean out your pockets Buddy:yea try it and I'll knock you threw the wall FUCK
technically, but the car that the story was based on is actually a 1964 Dodge 330 Special Edition. Honestly, I'd buy it if it were for sale and i could haul it home from its resting place in Maine. get it away from the crazy ass bible beaters that vandalized it.
Yes Ray that was heartbreaking. I've known about the tulsa plymouth for many years and was really hoping the car would be in good shape when they opened the vault. I was not prepared for the mess the car was.
My first car at 15 years old was a '57 Plymouth Belvedere convertible in new condition (it was 1964 the car only 7 years old)gold and white, all power accessories, and a 1958 350 Golden Commando V8 under the hood. It was in the middle of a 6 car wreck, but I got another and still have a '57 Belvedere convert and a '57 Belvedere SportCoupe with a '59 Fury engine in it. I hated Christine when it came out because so many were wrecked. In the long run many more are being saved because of the movie. Restore all you can, don't screw with the suspension, it was better than sports cars and still is. They're great cars.
Damn Larry!!! how lucky for you to still have two of them. Prior to that movie most people didn't even know what the car looked like or did any one care. Now if you find one that's a rarity. I hope you do still drive them, they're meant to be seen on the road, not stored away to only look at. We must be pretty close in age because I do remember those great looking cars of the late 50's and early 60's. Maybe some day I will have one. Cheers to you!
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! It shivered down my spine because this car looks sooo much like Christine! Best regards, luck and especially health to all involved people.
Junkyard finds and expensive restorations show that Plymouth Beldevere and Fury were well appreciated classic cars on their prime. Movie from novel Christine made the 1958 Beldevere a most wanted classic to restore.
Ooooooooh hell yeah. One hell of a find that's for sure. Hopefully you build her back to her original glory. I'm a Cadillac man myself even though I really love this car ass well. Talking about Caddys, my oldest daughter has always kept her eyes out for old Cadillacs for me for as long as we both can remember. Her Best friend from high school knows how much I love Caddys as well. First time she met me I was driving a 1979 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham that was slammed on the ground. I tried for 15 years to get her Dad to sell me the 56 Cadillac limousine that he was letting rot away in his back yard. I don't remember the model of the Caddy, just knew it was a 56, factory, limousine. It needed A LOT of work when I looked at the car in 2000. For the most part she was a virgin. All original sheet meal. No body work had ever been done because it wasn't in an accident. Most of the floors were rotting completely out since it was sitting on the frame on the ground. It had been sitting the for such a long time it had a couple of bushes along with other desert plants were growing inside. Even then and knowing what kind of project that I was going to take on I offered him $20,000 cash for it which I had on me since I was hoping to be the 3rd owner of this caddy. Just sucks that he wasn't willing to sell it. He just passed away last year and he never did anything with it. I wish I had the extra money along with knowing when I'll be moving out of Hellifornia to Georgia. I have 3 projects that I have to figure out how to move cross country
I love that car. It would be a dream to find one that wasn't $50k+. Funny thing is Plymouth never made the 57'-58' Fury in red. However, red is so right for those cars. great find!
Awesome video. I definitely cared more for the car than the trailer, getting scratched by those forks. What a find. I'd be happy not even restoring it! Looks awesome.
No shit! That is the find of a lifetime in my opinion! I'd be a hell of alot more tickled with this than a Baldwin Motion Camaro. Now that's saying something. Please treat her right!!!
Toy Bus Productions cutting her was not my idea, it was the new owners. The good part about her being chopped up is that she's donating some panels and the roof to convert are 4-door Plymouth to the 2 door hardtop, so it's not going to waste. Actually looks like someone of a decent car with all the parts on, but as soon as I stripped all the parts off I realize how bad it was. The floors in this car were completely gone, someone riveted plastic on the quarter panels for patches the car was just too far gone, had a lot of shitty work from the past.
Good find, that thing needs to be saved. And it's a 2-door! We have a '57 DeSoto 4-door that we are going to restore, been in the family since new. We brought that from NY to NH on a Uhaul trailer with no issues.
If you go by the story in the book , you will have to push it around the junkyard until it starts running. Then you drive it until it completely restores itself
My dad's first new car ever was a '58 Plymouth. The day he brought it home, he had the hood up checkin it out...a gust of wind slammed the hood on his hand...3 broken fingers. Three months later while we were driving, the car caught 🔥 fire and burned to the ground! Chrysler Corp. Gave him a new car. Kept it 2 years and had the engine rebuilt..(broken crankshaft) ...traded it in on a new Dodge. He said "No more Plymouths....EVER!" (And he was a 43 year employee of Chrysler)
When the front loader lifted it up high, I was like don't drop it,don't drop it! So glad it's going to get fixed. Just wish I could be lucky enough to find one.lol
In Canada, the Plymouths were also called Dodges. The Crusader, was a Plaza, the Regent, was a Savoy and Mayfair, was a Belvedere and Fury. In Mexico, the Dodge was called Kingsway, rebadged Plymouths, not sold in U.S.
My first car was a 1958 Plymouth 4-door Belvedere, 318ci, push button Powerflight transmission. Good car except for the brakes. They sucked big-time...unsafe actually. I wouldn't mind having another, already restored, not something like this one. Too much work and cost.
That car You can always have your money back its Christine no problem to sell price is going up on Christine cars Has past R-R prices and that is fantastic if compare the cars
You treat this beautiful lady with love and respect Otherwise she'll be coming for you should check you down You don't ever let her go Beautiful lady like yourself Should Not be the one who got away and if so give her to somebody who will love her just as much
turbo 6 we bought it as a parts car only and found out later in the line that it was in even worse shape that we thought, this car would basically need everything to be restored. The good thing I can tell you is that it's going to be cut up to turn a 4-door into a 2 door hardtop, so it is being used to bring another Plymouth back to life. We literally stripped every single good part off of it before we sold it, even the dash.
Should’ve had replacement wheels n aired up tires ready n swapped them while still in the air. Would’ve made putting it on and taking it off the trailer much easier. Awesome find regardless and it definitely looks repairable and restorable
I have found one of these cars in a junkyard with my dad, the car was rusted so bad the floor and the roof of the car were gone, engine gone, seats gone, but it was a 1958 Plymouth fury
My family had the Plymouth station wagon in Christine paint style. I was 6 when we went on route 66 to Disneyland, riding in the 3rd row facing backward all the way. She got traded in for a 1966 Plymouth Fury II with a 383 4 barrel.
In 1976 my local " junkyard" was my only way to build my car in high school but way out back one day I spotted a 1959 fury 2dr balanced on 55gal.drums that is the only time I have ever seen one
58 Fury with a numbers matching 318 V8 was and still is my dream car. Saw one in Laredo around 6 months ago...turned it down...too far gone. But I ain't givin up hope...
She's authentic in every way: Autumn red paint, genuine Fury, and genuinely in bad shape. If he could get that engine to fire, wouldn't be surprised if it was firing on 7 cylinders and blowing a large cloud of blue-grey smoke
I don't know how much I had to pay for that car but just all the stuff in the trunk was probably worth more than what you had to pay, even without the car ....
That V emblem he was holding in his hand is worth $400-$500 all by itself. He knew what he was doing when he dragged that car out of the mud. He never had any intention on restoring it. He even admitted he chopped it up for parts.
3713msg Yep only parts, trust me were going to gut this car. We have a guy that might by the shell after we gut it for body parts, he's turning a 4 door into a 2 door so he needs the roof, doors and parts of the quarters.

@Christopher Castillo Not again anyway
Pagz777 it got stripped and the body and chassis were sold.
