- We can find unity in our diversity ✊🏼 I am proud to partner IllumiNative and Mag 7 for the release of “We Are One,” a collaboration to show the richness, diversity, and beauty of Indian Country.
Today on Indigenous Peoples' Day and every day we are here to say that We Are Still Here. Research has shown that the lack of representation of Native peoples in mainstream society creates a void that limits the understanding and knowledge that Americans have of Native communities. We are here to fight the invisibility that Natives face by amplifying contemporary, authentic Native voices, and supporting Native peoples tell their story.
We as humans all live in this one world where we have to work and live together. Our goal is for Native peoples to be normalized in a current today and show accurate and positive representations of our people.
About IllumiNative and Mag 7:
IllumiNative is an initiative, created and led by Natives, to challenge the negative narrative that surrounds Native communities and ensure accurate and authentic portrayals of Native communities are present in pop culture and media.
Mag 7 is a collective of seven MCs and songwriters from different tribes, who came together for hope and optimism. The members of Mag 7 are Drezus (Plains Cree tribe), Supaman (Crow tribe), PJ Vegas (Shoshone / Yaqui tribes), Kahara Hodges (Navajo tribe), Doc Native (Seminole tribe), Spencer Battiest (Seminole tribe), and Emcee One (Osage/Potawatomi tribes).

I got into a conversation with a fellow Native American, he hated me, cause he called me a “City Indian”…he said he was real cause he lived on the “rez”…I felt sorry for him…my Dad who was Navajo and Apache (RIP Dad)…he said…”Love him, and pray for him…were all in the world and life together. No matter who it is the Creator put us all here, and when I see the Creator, we will all stand in his presence, from the Native to the white man, and black, the German, the British and French…they are my brothers and sisters. I get told I'm not native by any race because I don't "look" it even tho it's kinda obvious just light skin. Or they say I'm not because I didn't grow up on a rez. That doesn't take it out of my blood n spirit. Dance=prayer
Thank you. I hear my parents' generation defend their hatred. I see my peers fight over my rights, against yours, against theirs. But, I watch my son and his friends run the road - English, French, First Nation, World nations - getting into trouble and good times. I wish we were one, and I pray for it, but I see with hope that they just might be. 'Bless us Creator, that our children might embrace more peace than we have.'
I am American born Vietnamese. My own people don’t like me. Because I am not a Real Vietnamese and the hate is like poison. And Vietnamese are from a Laoyue Tribe which means Lost Bird Tribe. Our indigenous tribe always have tattoos which is part of our culture. I have a tattoo of an Eagle/Crane on my left and right shoulder blade. Because it symbolizes the Laoyue tribe.

Thomas Oklahoma my dear brother ... I am Mexican from the ancestry of the Mexican Seminole who ran to Coahuila (Texas) when Coahuila was Texas but now us Mexico. My grand grand father spoke if the massacre of Florida and how the ran to louisiana and then Coahuila Texas. They were joined by many runaway slaves as well. This tribe is in Torreón, Coahuila and Nazas Durango. They have been accepted as tribe in Mexico but the U S refuses to recognized tribes left in Mexico when the Mexicanland were stolen by false treaties. Please educate people. Mexicans are part of many North American tribes ! We are aboriginals to thus lands!!!!

I’m part Cherokee and it’s beautiful to see this video. I’m actually trying to reach my ancestors and discover lost culture because my great grandmother passed away before she could pass that along. My mom was five years old. I feel blessed by Great Spirit to find this.

@@senpai704 Please, you don't know this person. So don't make assumptions and laugh. She is on her journey to learn more about her family. It's frustrating when people laugh and mock others assuming that they are not of Native descent.
There are people who don't have Cherokee ancestry and there are many who do. After the Diné/Navajo Nation, Cherokees make up the largest "Federally recognized tribe" and that's just for enrolled members. There are many Natives who are not enrolled yet are Native nonetheless. Also take into consideration the history and interactions Cherokees have had with various groups. Our Native/Indigenous history and current state of issues are complicated.

Im just a guy from Europe with no connection to natives except that I'm supporting Human rights and organisations who defend indigineous rights as well that companies from my country (Nestle, Glencore, Credit Suisse) violate indigineous people's rights. I know this is going to sound hyperbolic, but I watch this video at least once a day. Aside from being just a damn good song, the message is amazing. It's something I love to start my day with and my students often walk into my classroom as I'm watching it. I've danced to the song, cried to the song, and felt elated listening to it.
