This is beyond amazing , are there more songs they have done ? We are Mi’kMaw , all really was lost with my great grandmother . She was taken , over the border to Maine for school. What we know is she was married to a reverend at 15 . Had my grandmother , and died when she was about 28 . Hysteria treatments in an institution. It’s my purpose remember , and document the oral traditions and learn the languages I can. Would utterly love if I could reach out , and possibly see if my network may offer a way to reach more who want to participate and help . Watching this , in 2021 and now we have evidence of thousands of children’s bodies around these school . Breaks my heart , my great grandmother was never hysterical or insane. She was torn from her family and horrifically abused…we can’t go back and help . I can here and now for our future ❤️
Thank you for being such a inspiration

    Gentle Warrior
    Song by Kalolin Johnson
    LyricsVideosArtists
Seen and heard by the Gentle Warrior's word
Taught to forgive but NOT forget
Your Words are weak, my voice is strong
It carries in the wind, it carries in a song
I'm trying to speak but I can't find my words
They snatched it away, shattered my world
    Don't say that I can't, don't pretend that I'm yours
Free me so my spirit can soar, as a warrior I'm stronger
Walk the path, follow the star
Feed the soul with tales of old
In the shadows we dance, in the dark we lie
With the river we flow with the earth we cry
I'm trying to speak but I can't find my words
They snatched it away, shattered my world
    Don't say that I can't, don't pretend that I'm yours
Free me so my spirit can soar, as a warrior I'm stronger
    Meet beyond the distant shore
Where lies and myths are no more
Two ways we talk, both ways the same
Words are the wings, carry us away
I'm trying to speak but I can't find my words
You snatched it away, shattered my world
I lost my talk, my courage, my pride
For 500 years it's been hiding inside
No more hurt, no more sorrow, no more fear, no more shame
A Mesi Klusi, I'm going insane
Give me truth, give me knowledge, give me honor, no more blame
Give me hope, give me freedom, give me love, no more pain
I'm trying to speak but I can't find my words
You snatched it away, scrambled my world
I lost my talk, my courage, my pride
For 500 years it's been hiding inside
No more hurt, no more sorrow, no more fear, no more shame
I'm asking for mercy, I'm going insane
    E'nikaq nsitunaq
    Niskum, my Great Brave
Guide me so my spirit can soar
    I'm a gentle warrior

Tom Johnson sorry to bother you, but part of your name just gave me chills ( in a good way) .
could you tell me what "tela" means ?
      there's a very good reason I ask.
my man says his baby brother would never call him by his name, but from the beginning called him "tela" .
I was surprised to see it in your name.
his name is Christopher, which sounds nothing like tela.
doe it have a translation to English?
      thank you in advance.
I have something else to share as well regarding what he believes to be an old lodge where his family home is, due to his grandmother finding an Flint or quartz arrow head while tilling her garden.
it was carbon dated, and she still has it, though it broke in two when the tiller hit it, it was confirmed to be authentic MI'kmaw style.
      thank you in advance.

      miigwetch in advance

Each time I watch this, I see something new. Two things stand out for me at this time: the first being the glimpse we get of the red dress and the second being the strength and connectedness of the young people to the earth. They walk, dance and sing with power and purpose.

Support our young people. All of them - with no exception. Water is life. Language and identity are one in the same. If we don't know where we come from, we can not determine what direction we have been moving in.
Our elders are our communities greatest assetts, but for far too many generations now, we have cone to regaurd them as a nussance, and in our own last years, been lead to believe the same about our selves. There is no truth in it, however.
Stay true to the Good Red Road - and we will walk together - un-divided - un-broken - and un-afraid to see better days ahead.

I'm latino with white, african and native american blood in my veins and I know the importance of preserving native american cultures. They are the few ancient cultures that still know the importance of loving Mother Earth and live in harmony with it. If western societies want to save this world and not destroy it we need to be more like them, like the native americans. There is no other way around.

The world needs this wisdom....The Eagle Condor Prophecy...Such powerful spirits. We need this, its unbelievable that greed and power has caused us to turn our back on the connection to the earth and that there is so much pain on this planet, I really think the only way to turn this around is through the languages that have been lost and through the people that haven't forgotten their connection with the oldest ancestor, the Earth. Thank you for doing this.

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL NATIVE AMERICANS & AMERICANS
I am a white American with pure English blood line with name Craft and I am not proud of the past and my family
did not participate in the extension of the Native Americans and I do not like what I see for the future.
I pledge to you I will spend my time and energy to teach the American people that until the country as a hole
Pay the native Americas back with Land and money this country can not progress any further.
Did you know that in the 1960 when the Cuban's came to Florida the government payed them $800.00 mo.
for every man, woman, child, child, child, grama. granpa, aunt and uncle.in the house hold. this is
back when you could buy Volkswagen bug for $3.000. They bought cars, homes, and businesses they built
little Havana in Miami and they are very wealthy Americans now and you never hear about them being poor and run down.
Time to give you what your due Land & Money
A CALL TO ALL AMERICANS MAKE THIS RIGHT FOR COUNTRY SOLE. AS A COUNTRY WE HAVE TO GO BACK TO THE BEGENNING AND CORRECT OUR FORFATHERS FIRST MISTAKE.
UNTILL WE CORRECT THIS THERE IS NO WAY THIS COUNTRY CAN MOVE FORWARD IN AN HONORABLE WAY.

Such a beautiful song and video of the culture of the Mi'kmaq and how the rules of our ancestors affected the Mi'kmaq and also the lack of support they continue to receive . I couldn't even begin to understand how much it has and still effects Indigenous people. Our children need to learn more in school about their cultures and how our ancestors affected the lives of past and present generations and the generations to come. There is still so much to learn and change that needs to be made to try and heal what our ancestors caused and so many continue to do.

It's the action that makes the spirit not the made up languages , language is mindful,....I was raised up facing fear on my own with white people I couldn't speak there language and they ( foster parents) couldn't speak mine ,...I later found out the tribes are one big tribe the language is the same people, places and things were held sacred and not infringed upon, we use to say small words with hand signs (sentences and paragraphs) the B.I.A., Indians help the u.s.with this new language because our people been rapped and robbed by the Catholics and u.s.a.,....facts from MD👁🔥,...keep up the good prayer, song and no infringements

Colonial War. MiqMaw & Malaceet stood by the French Empire. A struggle lost, but a supreme Courage alive in History!! You did a fine job against London's lies! France will never ignore you're sacrifice in battle! Magnifique!! Bravo! ..Louis XIV would have enjoyed every minute if he had met you so long ago! Louis loved dancing! He loved music! MiqMaw had all of it!! Never forget!

with much love from across the water. it was the soul of the mi'kmaq which drove me home. i hope we can reconnect again one day. what i learned from you is the foundation that drives me forward and centers me in my journey. the understanding of what it means for a people to be connected to the land, and land to its people. my thoughts are with you :)

Amazing job guys. Very powerful song. I am so happy when I see the work that is being done to preserve and teach indigenous languages, customs and culture. It is very important work.
