"Indomitable ft. Northern Cree Singers" by DJ Shub features a sample from Northern Cree's "Young and Free" song, which was composed by Conan Yellowbird for the drum's Ewipihcihk album released by Canyon Records. "Young and Free" is published by DMG Arizona (ASCAP).
Me and my family are indigenous mexicans but last year we went to a pow wow and it was the sweetest thing to see how different but alike we were. My mama called natives our upper cousins 💀
Same haha #LaRaza
We are the same Aztecs Mayas toltecs Cherokee Navajos Apaches pow wow cree.
When I lived in California I went to a powwow for Navajo with next-door neighbor that was like a mom to me. It’s a lot different from the Cherokee but it did remind me of some of the Mexican culture. I lived in El Cajon California which is not very far from the border of Mexico where i used to go surfing Rosarito passed Tijuana
My mother’s side of the family and I are Taínos (native to the Caribbean). And honestly, being a part of native culture but I feel like natives of Latino America are so underrepresented by our own nations. I’m glad Canadians at least recognize indigenous peoples.
I refer to South Americans as southern brothers
An old Nehiyaw here... getting good vibes. Old traditionalists will say that this is not right. Well I am an old traditionalist and I say that we cannot remain static. We recreate ourselves in our own image, which is today and tomorrow someone else will take our culture and music to another level. Be the one to make that change and live long and pow wow.
Renewal > Stagnation. Thank you for stating this.
Wonderful video. Thank you. I love seeing how much he lights up and flourishes when he can shed the other culture and display the connection to his own.
sorry, 😲😧

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! ✊

I can only imagine how beautiful and awesome it would have been to witness this several hundred years ago.
Omg I couldn’t look away, so much beauty, respect for others cultures , that’s what makes America great, all the different cultures
I agree but this video is from Canada
Need to learn a song before it’s a erase! Truly makes you indomitable !!! Shout out to Dj Srub! LOVE YOU! THANK YOU!!!
Brilliant rythm and tempo! Your performance is God-tier.
Rather an astounding video actually. Living between two worlds, as Tha Tribe so artfully sang in their two-volume CD. You so perfectly illustrate this. I love the video and the message it sends even more.
Literally love this song I keep on singing it in my head lol 😂
Thank you brother
I live in East Coast Canada, my grandmother raised in a residential school in Quebec was Cree
I keep listening to these songs because it's the only connection to my heritage I have.
I'm so proud of my heritage I just wish I knew more.... Has anyone heard of a community called three fingers Quebec
There's a three fingers lakes, but the settlement was destroyed during the time of residential schools where my grandmother and her sisters were taken...... My struggle has hit a roadblock. Anybody have any information that might be helpful?
Stunningly powerful and gorgeous.

What are the lyrics? Would love to know!!
I finally tracked down my biological family, and found that I'm 40% Mayan Native, and 10% Guatemalan on my dad's side. We come from the Yucatan Peninsula. I have a great aunt on my mom's side that lives on the Cherokee rez. So native is in my blood on both sides. I've been feeling the call to go to a pow wow again soon. I miss the feelings, the drums, the dances, the people. I miss my family
I was taken by surprise seeing the hidden leaf symbol on his headpiece, but then I looked closer at everyone else's outfits-- there was a man with the emblem of the US Marine Corps, a man with what I think is a Christian cross, etc. It was interesting that different, unique parts of the wearer were on their garments. I've watched this video dozens of times over and never noticed that.
True white Brother has returned to the land.
I've never heard of the "hidden leaf" symbol. The so-called "Christian" cross is ACTUALLY a ROMAN cross. It's possible that Chris was crucified using what's called a "Tau cross." www.ancient-symbols.com/symbols-directory/cross-of-tau.html

As a Native American living in the city, I feel like this is calling me. It calls "Come home" Like, It wants me to live in nature. A rural area where I can live, ride horses, hunt in a forest. I feel like my ancestors are calling. They want me to join them.

Hitler loves stories about cowboys murdering Native Americans. The Brits were worse than Nazis. Glad I'm Spanish. Most Hispanics are Native Americans, but they lie to you saying that everyone is mixed when you can see that's not true just by looking at their faces. I'm a Spaniard born in Mesoamérica between the most glorious Native American civilizations: Mayan, Aztec and Incan. Most Hondurans are Lencas, Misquitos or Mayans. Argentina committed a genocide against Fuegians with British involvement and Darwin's influence but that was not the Spanish Empire that did it. Guatemala committed a genocide against Mayans, but, again, that was NOT the Spanish Empire that did it. It was liberals who were independent of creationist and conservative Spain. All races are from Adam means racism is heresy. One of the conquistadores was a black man from the Congo, Juan Garrido. Seminoles fled the racist Brits for the sanctuary of Spanish Florida.

@@morgankelly9725 not really true if you look at most of the right wingers that are prominent, they’re usually married out of their race whereas liberals pretty much stick to their race
I mean after all it was the right wingers that freed the slaves or the Democrat party wanted to keep them in slaved
It was also the right wingers that got the 1964 civil rights act passed since a third of the Democrats opposed the 1964 civil rights act was which wasn’t too long ago
I mean it was the Democrats during the 60s that opposed desegregation and the right wingers that were in favor of it

But keep believing the group think indoctrination you’ve been Spoonfed and keep drinking the racially divisive propaganda
@@monsterpoo It WASN"T the right wingers that freed the slaves. The Republicans were the progressives of their time. Look at the electoral college for the 1800s/late 1800s/1890, etc. New England wasn't Republican back then because it was "right wing", that's for sure. The SOUTH was the right wing area, but they were Democrats, because the Democrats at THAT time were the Right wingers. The parties started to switch sides at the turn of the century. The fact that you don't know that means you must have been educated in a Republican STATE. ALl you have to do is look at the electoral college from that time period and read a little history.
I really liked the contrast between the characters professional/urban life verses his personal/cultural life. There was no colour or life when he was in the city verses the endless amount of colour and life in his cultural life.
I discovered this fantastic via Norwegian radio. A Sami (indiginous minority on the Scandinavian peninsula) artist was interviewed, and she told that when she was DJ'ing on festivals, this song always got everybody up on their feet. Furthermore, when finding it on youtube, I loved the video. Many school books show a very stereotypical image of any indigenous peoples around the world, and I found this video very refreshing. Working as a teacher, this video is definately going to be shown to my students :)
That's great you're showing it to students! Thats the only way you dispel ignorance
It's despicable how they portray and treat indigenous culture and individuals, but we must remember there are only 2 true emotions: LOVE AND FEAR....

IKR, I wasn't sure if its konoha symbol or a part of the clothes symbol XD
This was viscerally beautiful. The drumbeat and the voices, it felt like it changed the beat of my heart.
The drum for the heart and pulsing blood, the chorus for the brain and the nervous system.
I am right with you...peace and love.
Anyone with Native descent feel like this also? Stuck in a modern world, made small and broken, with no connection to who we are; but hearing a primal drum in your heart and a chant in the wind calling you home, telling you who you really are.
I'm not native to these lands but I hear mother nature's call beckoning me. I ache to return to a natural way of life even though I wasn't raised in one. A distant rememberance in the blood of generations that once did. More distance of a life coexisting with nature than your lineage though.
I cry every time I hear my people of all tribes and nations sing so proud.#Apachewomen
My grandfather was stolen from his mother, the daughter of a community in the Odawa nation, Canada. The other side of my family is straight Irish from Cork. My family doesn't talk about the native stuff (and not because of the Irish part of the family). I am 1/4 Odawa and 3/4 Irish by birth. The Irish side is venerated. The First Nations part is hushed. We've lost a lot as a family that way. Because of colonialism. Because of shame. Because of the everlasting motherfucking struggle that is being indigenous in a colony. And the worst part is, my family doesn't even acknowledge the damage done to us and our ancestors. That would be weakness. I found out a few years ago that my great grandmother died in Toronto when I was 14. I never met her, or even knew she existed. What I would give to do so today.
who you are is HUMAN, not NATIVE, or SMALL or BROKEN.. you get one life, live it.. fuck the cultural and historical serotypes. LIVE.
No, it's just a good song. Stop with this. There's no "Paint with all the colors of the wind" stuff going on. Yes, I'm native btw.
I have found this genre as of recent, and I must say Native American culture is some of the most beautiful and thought provoking. I have nothing but admiration and such profound respect for all. Please keep doing what you're doing and finding a way to reach others through your music so they too can see how amazing and rich it all is. Thanks for the vibes.

Your heritage is something to be proud of. With all the true Americans have endured and are still is a testament to the truth and resilience of the first peoples. May all of us embrace the culture that sees the full circle ❤
So I recently discovered Mongolian music which led me to Nordic and Viking and now to this. This is so beautiful to see and hear. It’s sad to know that people in the USA don’t embrace this and want to bury this beautiful art form. I hope this grows even more and reaches a worldwide audience.
What people in the US are burying this? It’s literally from the US.

Serious question: What exactly IS a "Pow-wow?" I can see that there is space made for "outsiders" who want to come and watch; but I get the feeling that this is something for members of the tribe. Is it a conference? Is it like a family reunion? Is it a time of catching up with one another? Does business of any type get done? I feels like something more meaningful than a "show" is happening, but I feel that I don't understand.
Michael Butchin it’s spiritual my guy, it’s a reminder to one another that we’re still here
Every thing you listed is what a Pow Wow is and more. Its a getting together. The purpose is for whatever reason they got together for at the time.
It’s an exhibition of modern and some traditional , war, harvest, marriage, hunting, ect ceremonial dance and storytelling. For all communities who want to participate. It can be spiritual for some, fun for others🙏
Generally speaking you should be able to just visit a powwow if you want to, at least in my area those who aren't part of the band are allowed and encouraged to watch.
The general public is almost always allowed to attend to pow wow to watch however there are certain rules to be aware of about the circle you should follow. You can ask someone to explain the specific rules but in general don't enter the circle unless you're invited, otherwise enjoy, be respectful, and learn all you can.

✨✨💖✨✨🦅 I am very white Irish born and raised here in the south Georgia and I love and respect the hell out of my Native American brothers and sisters of Turtle Island 👊🏻, My partner of nearly 10 years was half blood Quapaw Sioux, inducted into her tribe at 16. She died of cancer about a year and a half ago. Every since I was a child I have loved and respected Native Americans so much, they are in my soul. I would die to defend them. I love you all. The Earth is in alot of trouble and needs so much help right now, the water, the oceans, land, animals are suffering too much 😢🌍 I love this planet. I want Mother Earth healed. No fossil fuels, we need free energy technologies, no slaughter houses and animal testing and abuse, no abusing sea life and poisoning water. No racism, bigotry, Ego, religious dogma, masogyny, xenophobia.. all of this insanity has to die out and come to an end. As Red Crow Westerman said.. It is getting close to renewal time.. Mother is reacting.. People have to come together to save this Earth, Love is the meaning of life......
I honestly cried through watching the video:') so beautiful, so touching, would love to go to a pow wow again someday❤❤🌱 hopefully soon🌿
Absolutely love the culture im a white dude from the mountains and I’m well aware of who this land belongs to✌️
It belongs to who industrialized it, and made it flourish. Now the ways european settlers obtained this land (unethicsloy and not ok) is a different story. So your reasoning is justfiable. The American peoples were the first to inhabit this land, so it does belong to them in a sense.
@@sylamy7457 hmm no.. the earth does not belong anyone, all of life belongs to the earth.
Anyone born on this soil is a native, brother. I welcome all with open arms and heart. Share my meals with me, and we will fight together.
My name is Tookanee, proud son of the Toghottele Tribe of Athabascan Alaskan Natives. Nice to meet you.
@@RBEmpathy How wise And true. How can we divide and conquer land saying it belongs more to us and push people off of it? Esp. people who have generations of culture and history there. Why? Bc we have bigger armies!that makes it right? All in the name of progress right. We belong to the universe. It does not belong to us. We are visitors here. And damn what awful guests some people make.
@@aidancarmody99 you do realize the native people owned tons of African slaves right?
Don’t pretend like you’re innocent
The natives proved that they were no different than the colonizers because when they were given the chance to enslave Africans, they did so without hesitation.... so Karma is a bitch
Am I the only one to notice at 1:07 that a Traffic offence too place?
that's the one thing you took from this? cool cool...
Dumb. It’s called turning after you stop at a stop sign.
I love the contrast: him working in an office, maybe as a lawyer or an architect and then he goes to a traditional powwow wearing his regalia. Awesome video.
Native Pride forever!!. Being one if the first Native Americans to try to become a pro bodybuilder!💪🔥 This is one of my new Gym jams!!. To all the tribes, WE ARE ONE STRONG NATION!!!
This is so sick. How does it have any dislikes?! Everything about this was fire, including the dancer and production! I keep saying i'm going to get to a powwow. this year i think i will.
Imagine if Europeans had come here with the goals of cooperation and learning. We could have the healthiest civilization on Earth instead of being on the brink of a dead planet
It wasn't all Europeans the British did supply chief black fish of the Shawnee with weapons, and payed to have colonies burned for simple men themselves surviving in no taxed lands, Daniel Boone was a simple frontiersman who only wanted to escape British tyrants in a small colonie, once he built Boonesborough it was a small peaceful place, the British were at war with American freedom, paid black fish to take out Boonesborough but failed with 1500 Shawnee versus 70 colonists, after Boone defeats black fish, even though black fish had his daughter kidnapped and Boone saved her, then Boone himself is taken by black fish and sold to the British, the plan surrender freedom of just living in the woods bothering no one Boone escaped black fish by miracle, to the fort, to get ready to fight and defeats the Shawnee way out numbered, the virginia milisha shows up to massacre the Shawnee and Boone after all that wouldn't give up there camp that is a man, davy crockett tried very hard to stop the trail of tears, you are confused about types of people you have your Boones and crocketts then you have men like Andrew Jackson wanting more and more, if the British didn't bring people from all places here to rule them, then go to war with them, historical colonies and say the 7 nations could be one, if Sherman tecumseh who doesn't deserve the name of the great Shawnee warrior chief didn't commit massacres and steal lands promised on paper, then yeah just maybe but it's not European men. It's men of power from all around the world. The end lol
What if it wasn't Europeans? What if ALL the Crowns were descendants of the original Cartel. Explains a lot. Colonization, Genocide, War, all through history..... Knowledge is Power, we are stronger United in a game of Division.
Love to all , We all bleed the same blood.

Moms Irish dads Cherokee i speak cherokee better than English even tho English was my 1st language. Teaching your native tounge to ur family is so important and a obligation to our youths well being. ❤

Does it feel insanely powerful to dance like that? I imagine it would be quite the head rush!
Thanks to Shub & everyone that is involved with this absolute master piece, including powwows.com. Awesome modern translation of one of the most, if not the most righteous of the Great Mother's human cultures. Have you went yet? Please say yes.
Being white, I really enjoyed the Native American music, it's so unique and different, sometimes I feel like I'm fighting my demons from hurting me.
Not gonna lie, I see the Konoha symbol and I get this sense of unity, hope and perseverance. Thank you for sharing this. For some reason, it brought me joy and pride. I'm in tears. Thank you (I am Guatemalan American. I do not look Latin enough. I do not look American enough. But I am human. Idk why but this made me happy)
I love it 😊 The main character is very cute and a amazing dancer.
If this were the national anthem, nobody would have to kneel.
You just can't kneel down while this groovy rhythm is going on.
They are Canadians
James Miller you are European
I've been interested in that for a while, as a political movement. What if we started a party whose mission it is to get controlling numbers in the legislative and executive branches, then we convene a gathering of tribal elders from the US, Mexico, and Canada, and we apologize profusely, admit we fucked up, and dissolve the US government returning all control of the land and us to the tribes. They literally can't possibly do worse than we've done, and they likely can steward us better.
If they get rid of states, fine whatever, if they keep a central government, fine whatever, if they dissolve the whole thing into counties or city states, fine whatever. We clearly had no clue what the fuck we were doing and we made is 250 years, they managed this continent for 10,000 years before us, maybe longer? Again, they can't do worse, if for no other reason than they respect the sanctity of clean water, soil and air. Give it back, we tried and we were AWFUL at central governance. No shame in knowing when to bow out and asking for help. I think we've done enough damage, time to cede control back to the adults and take our licks for being uppity assholes.
Frank, I agree. And add, me I am okay if you wish to stand, kneel, or do nothing. I say freedom does not make demands...freedom honors choice.
