  • Symbicort is one of the inhalers which in the case of asthma can be used as both a controller and a reliever. This is because one of the medications contained in Symbicort, called formoterol, has a quick onset of action, usually 5-10 minutes. Formoterol acts as a bronchodilator - a medication which opens up the small airways to help you breath better.
However, Symbicort also contains another medication called budesonide which is a corticosteroid. This acts as an anti-inflammatory medication which helps control inflammation in the airways long term (hence the term controller medication). These two medications work together in the case of asthma.

My experience in 4 + years use and it has helped significantly to keep away bronchitis issues. However, there is some spasm in lungs and due to which dose increases between 320/160/80. However recently I have encountered an issue like extremely low vitamin D and B12 etc and facing nerve neuropathy. So doc said this is what happens to extended use of such steroids. Liver doesn’t metabolise normally after prolonged use.

My doctor just prescribed me this medication to see if it helps with an ongoing issues with a cough and also bronchial scarring or something like that. Breathe out all the air you can, put it mouth, close lips tightly and breathe in steadily and strong.
Hold your breath for 10 seconds or so, then slowly breathe out through your nose.
It's a powder so you gotta do it right, it does work pretty well for asthma.
And make sure you rinse your mouth out with water and gargle and spit the water out.

I am 33 years old now, and Symbicort helps a lot. Asthma will never be cured. It will be with us for the rest our life but we don't have to worry, we just need to have a controller and maintain healthy diet. Remove all processed food like noodles, mcdo, artificial flavors, alcohol as much as possible because it will worsen asthma and complicate it. Stay safe and live well and healthy.
