This feels way more Nurture like. Not that the original doesn't have those vibes, but the vocal chops and drops remind me a lot of Something Comforting.
@@JakobMaier I mean it gives off a similar vibe because they are both in the same key so it’s easy to hear similarities because there are only so many chords to pick in one key
@@Edwoah_The_Legend yeah but the vibe is the same in each key. Like if you transpose a song into a different key, it still sounds "the same", just higher/lower. Not suddenly sad or sth. But i agree that key is important in that many instruments sound differently in a different tonal range. For example, singers will often write a song in the range that their voice sounds the best in. If they picked a higher key, they’d have to hit higher notes, which would make their voice sound strained or even crack

I keep coming back to this demo. It needs to be finished!! I like this version more than some songs on the smile album unfortunately (not that I dislike the other songs)
Porter and gang said this song lacked certain things that they couldn't quite understand. I think I can identify a few things wrong: 1. The transition from the introduction to the James Ivy vocals is basically nonexistent. There normally should be a change in energy between the opening and intro vocals, and the fact that it's missing makes this a lot more empty. 2. There are basically no key changes at all. It stays between Ab Major and Bb Major. While the final release shows something similar at the beginning, there are still a lot more key changes afterwards (B Major - C# Major - D# Major - A# Major). The fact that it's only two keys makes this all the more egregious. The only time I hear the key changes is in the chorus. 3. 2:16 Porter already says this is more of an experimental section where they were trying to figure out wavedash, so I understand. That said, this part just doesn't fit at all. There's no reason why this part should exist in this song. Besides, it's very repetitive, just like most of the song. 4. Just the fact that there's only a barebone structure (Opening, intro, chorus, transition, middle part, chorus, ending), with little to no variety between any of those verses is what makes this whole song barebones. Even a few instrumental changes or additions would be miles better. What exactly they would be, I'm not sure.
@@Tyc9909 it’s not like they can’t release an alternate version, it’s not an uncommon thing for artists to do. i could see it happening if a ton of people ask for it on social media
Definitely has the demo feel to it. The direction is all over the place and makes no sense, the mixing is really poor given the vocals are barely audible most of the time. It's like a bulletin board of ideas to filter out later. It sucks, but bleeds with potential.
I like how he says its so bad and then all three of them are clearly jamming to it
he probably meant the mix/arrangement, as a music prod it did sound really messy around the part where he said that
@@carson2889either that or he was joking
there was a comment and he just read it
They are reading a comment in the twitch chat
bro imagine this released as "Is There Really No Happiness part. 2 "
Perhaps There is Some Happiness, the sequel
maybe there is happiness
More coherent as "Is There Really No Hapinesse part. 0 or demo"
This feels way more Nurture like. Not that the original doesn't have those vibes, but the vocal chops and drops remind me a lot of Something Comforting.
It probably helps that both songs are in the same key haha (Eb-Major)
@@Edwoah_The_Legendi don’t think key matters as long as you don’t have perfect pitch (which almost nobody has)😭

Its like if James Ivy made a song on Nuture. I cannot stop thinking about that hook
Funny since James Ivy helped in the production of Is There Really No Happiness
deluxe smile with this bop please
This actually could've been an 11th song on Smile its that good!
Sounds like a completely different song. It's crazy that it's ITRNH
WE COULD'VE GOTTEN JAMES IVY VOCALS???

Porters verses are literal gibberish. They said before they played it, he just mumbles shit into the mic
For the lyric with a missing part "But I can't stop writing your name ([?])" it's
"But I can't stop writing your name, all over the place"
@@strawberrycrxmeThanks for the missing lyric!
Instead of food you should change it to footing
After the "so if you'll say it" i think its "i'm gonna start. I don't wanna lose you"
This should be the live edit
One day james and porter will have a track together, its bound to happen
praying
please
cannot describe how much i love the line "LOVE LETTERS AND LANDFILLS"
IS THERE REALLY NO HAPPINESS (EARLY VERSION)
JUST LIKE MUSICIAN
I can't believe how good this is.
James Ivy really is that mf dude, need more music from him asap
YOOOOO JAMES IVY VOCALS AHHHHHH I WOULDVE LOST MY MIND OVER THIS VERSION 😭😭😭
This version is one i hope they still figure out
I'm not saying is there really no happiness is worse or anything I'm saying this version has a lot of merit on its own

This is so good. Jeez - the talent on these folks.
Knowing Porter he'll probably mix segments of the demo into his live performances and I'm all for it 🙏 demo goes hard
the chorus and refrain is soooooo catchy
It's so completely different! Needs its own release!
I need the full version on Spotify this is so good
This needs to be released wth it's too good😭😭
THIS IS SOO GOOD !???
I was racking my brain figuring out where I have heard that beat drop before and have finally realized it sounds like Beings by Madeon.
"Ngl this version sucks" meanwhile I'm screaming RELEASE IT RELEASE IT at the screen😅

Love this Porter. Can't wait to see you this November
release................. release it................................................. im causing an actualization....
this is actually really good wth
jimmy sounds so nice over it
PLEASE someone point me to songs with a similar vibe to this. i doubt this demo will be released fully but i have been obsessed with it
James Ivy's entire discography
I NEED THIS!!!!!!!
hope they finish this and release
Why did they scrap this 😭 it’s so portery
the new chorus is admittedly way more catchy but it's so sad that they couldn't keep the james ivy melody
