That’s what I love! Getting tired of all these “this is now out of style” videos. I decided for myself long time ago to stick with classics. Always possible to add something trendy with accessories, smaller pieces. Thank you for this video!
Same here. Every time you think that you are now look current, you turn around and it is dated. So you need to buy more stuff. I find it quite depressing and wastefull. I just want to look good in what I have already.
I love ❤️ your channel and it has helped me edit and purge. I recommend it to my law students. Young adults need a lot of gentle nudging away from trendy and inappropriate.
I think you showed a still of Kim Novak in the film Vertigo, wearing a white coat and black gloves. She was in another film either just before or just after, also with James Stewart - Bell Book and Candle. I can’t recommend those films enough, the main reason being Kim Novak’s outfits! They were so classy, I think you would love them. 😁
@@Gemmawhattowear Gemma/Janice if you manage to watch them (still available on DVD and maybe on streaming services which show vintage classic films), you won’t be disappointed! Bell, Book and Candle has a Christmas theme so you may catch it somewhere.
Gemma 🌹🌹🌹 Thank you so much for popularizing classic elegance and timeless looks 🙏 your efforts are mostyly appreciated 💝 we have had enough of ugly trends, low quality clothes and messy outfits 🙈 the covid times made it even worse, as people started to wear pijamas and fitness clothes in public… 🤯 a return to classics and quality is more necessary than ever! Best regrads, Joan
I love turtlenecks, but I’m busty and in general, higher necklines aren’t great on me. So, I try to replicate a V-neckline, and visually cut the bulk of my bust, by wearing a (longer) V-necklace or V-neck blazer or other jacket or coat over them, it helps. I think a turtleneck under a blazer is such a classic look, with jeans, other trousers or skirts. A turtleneck knit dress under a blazer, with tall boots and matching tights is great, too.
Same here. V-neck instead of turtleneck. Unfortunately my torso's one size bigger than my hips, so I have to avoid white shirts and white tops. They make me even look bigger and like a ghost. We've different shapes, thus I like the video. Well, the Audrey trousers and the statement earrings are just me.
I'm busty (J cup) and it helps to buy sweaters one size up, sometimes 2 sizes up. I avoid tight tops like the plague; I don't want to be the woman with the neon sign pointing out how big her chest is. Silk scarves, square and draped on your chest, or long ones hanging down and knotted or looped at a good place on you, add panache and visually fill up that expanse. I buy gorgeous real silk twill, hand-hemmed scarves directly from China on ebay. Most designers have their clothes made in China anyway; the quality is amazing if you make sure that it's real silk, hand hemmed. The quality is comparable to my authentic vintage Hermes scarf, but for $25 to $50 instead of $$$$.
Great video, thanks. Could you please do a video about classy, affordable jewellery/accessories. It's the one thing I can never seem to get right. I see some women just know how to add the perfect type of bangle etc to their outfits. How they do it is a mystery to me 😂
Lovely video, Jemma. I used to have many sets of black gloves in a variety of materials when I lived in Boston. Now I live in the desert, so few the occasion to wear. How fortunate you are to live where you can take advantage of a four-season wardrobe. Admittedly a little jealous here!
A white coat is a goal! I love black tights, as winter is the only time I wear skirts, since I can cover my veins with tights! I also wear them as an added layer under trousers in our cold New England winters.I just treated myself to a black cashmere turtleneck (I figured if not now, when?) and I love it (I'm 74 and don't understand why you are not supposed to wear one after a certain age - they hide neck wrinkles, which is a bonus!). More great looks, as always!
I'm so enjoying your videos Gemma! You continuously show stunning stylish pieces that are totally me. I'm loving your style. Ty and please keep them coming.
Thanks, Gemma. What about the classic navy or black blazer? In my humble opinion, that’s the king of all classic, timeless pieces and worth the investment.
Oh I agree with 100% I LOVE a navy and black blazer. I’ve included them lots of times in my videos I just wanted to pick some other pieces for a change in this video 💼
Loved the video Gemma! Have most of these items, but I always find some inspiration on how you present them. I love winter white, but, it has to be a no coffee or tea day 😂😂 I could wear any other colour and not have a drip but white is like a magnet for every coffee drop or drip. That will be the day the lid won’t be on correctly. Looking forward to your Xmas content. 196k 👍🏻👍🏻🥰🥰
All very good suggestions, I enjoy your videos. I would also add a good classy watch to your list: it lasts a lifetime takes anything you wear up a notch. Personally I've ditched turtlenecks after menopause : can't stand the extra heat.
Hi Gemma, love a white shirt. Some very classy looks here. Not sure about the statement earrings though, yours are beautiful, but I stick to simple pearls or diamond studs ( sometimes fake ) 🙊 Think Willy should check the durability of the tights 😄😄😄 Lovely to see you xx
They really are aren’t they. I wonder if women will be wearing a white button up shirt and jeans in the same way in another 70 years? So glad you enjoy my videos
I love your tutorials. Thank you so much for helping me put outfits together. A lot of the pieces you speak of are already in my wardrobe and I refer to you when I want something a little different than what I’ve done before. So again, thank you very much.
After watching your videos I am looking at my clothes in a totally different way! Thank you very much! Greetings from Greece and warm wishes for a Happy New Year!
Another winning video. Love the white coat black tights pants etc white shirt all standard classics that remain wardrobe staples love your cd earrings too and the durable tights you are so good to us with discounts!!xx
How does one get actual help from Sheertex? I was excited to learn about the Sheertex tights, and ordered with great enthusiasm. On receiving the order, tried one pair, the sizing for my weight was completely off, bunched in the toe and flopped about the ankle. My impression is that I will never get resolution because no one answers the phone or responds to calls or emails. Is there any customer service with this company?
Hello. Thank you for sharing with us on how to be at our best. Unfortunately you only show ladies who are size 2. What about us average ladies who are size 14 and above? Who are busty and not 6 feet tall?
Hi Lilian it’s very very hard to find images of ladies other than those of that size and height. If I could find them wearing the styles and outfits I love I would absolutely show them. Occasionally I show me wearing the clothes, I’m size 12 /14 and 5’6

Oh I'm so relieved that someone feels the same as me. Some things that come into fashion are positively ugly but classics always always look good

Love how the simplicity of these will always look more elegant than an ultra trendy look!
White colour definitely makes you look younger 😍
I love your videos! Teddy Blake purses are beautiful. Any ideas on edgy-classy outfits?

She was incredibly elegant, and wore clothes beautifully. Stunning.
This makes me curious now to also watch the movie

What a treat, just lovely. I hope you love your new turtleneck. Cashmere is so luxurious, there’s no going back once you wear it,nothing else will do
Barbara Stanwick at the end of her career on Big Valley always wore her neck. When you age sometimes your neck ages the most

Thank you! Great selection of classics. I'll pass on the white coat though... very high maintenance
Gemma, I wonder you’d give the same guidance for an off white tailored coat ? That’s what I have.
I take that as a yes...?
Wool coats are, by their very nature, off white. I have never seen bright white wool. The bleaching process would be damaging.
Thanks for reviewing sheartex!

Could you do a video on suitable dresses/suits for Sunday services? I cannot find any decent dresses for that...seriously
Great idea.
Top handle bags are beautiful but they are too easy to rip out of your hands in the city or at the mall. A cross body bag is much safer!
L-O-V-E your white knit turtleneck in this video. Please let me know where I can find it. It is hard to find a quality white turtleneck.
Your hair...wow!
I love true white, but it’s so hard to find items in this color in the US. IMO black sheer tights are nothing more than the old school non-sheer black pantyhose.
