Just found this Bill. I was there on the day. We could have passed each other by. I remember it was a lovely warm, sunny day. I have posted some slides I took on the day. Nice video Bill. Clive.
Many thanks for looking and commenting Clive, as you say we may well have passed each other during the couple of hours I was there, there were so many there I even passed my brother in law who was there with his kids, I did not know he was there until I watched the video, It was a great sunny day, a good time had by all, Cheers...Bill
Why did the diesel have to pull the steam engine backwards when she was only pulling two carriages ? Was she just taking it easy after a rebuild or was the driver used to diesels and couldn't find reverse ? Great footage thank you 😊
Iain, thanks for looking/commenting. I have walked around the holding sidings many times during weekends taking photo's during the late 80s early 90s and never had a problem maybe I was lucky. Regards Bill
I remember this! I was 14 at the time & lived near Stone Cross. Could see the lights at Bescot yard from my bedroom window. I don’t recall there ever being another open day - shame, because I really enjoyed going to this one.
