To me, Comb Ridge is one of the most perplexing, thus alluring, geological formations in southeastern Utah. Wolfman Panel has got to be one of my top ten favorites (visited so far). I appreciate your (sensitive) interpretation of the petroglyphs. Thanks for making this one, Alex!
Adventure is usually a brief period of exhilaration sandwiched between many hours of boring struggle. Video allows us to skip the struggle and get to the adventure! - If you are gonna adventure for real, know that the boring struggle is a prerequisite.
Hello Touchnova, I met a fellow who was from the town of Bluff and has trekked around the region extensively. He said that the artist that produced the Wolfman panel produced several others in the Combs ridge area and that his petroglyphs are recognizable due to his unique style......alex
@@storiesbyalex Actually I have to disappoint you. The petroglyphs globally are quite the same, because they are not artistic expressions, but rather a record of a major solar outburst in the past, creating very distinctive figures in the sky and the figures are related to how electricity moves through plasma. Amazing panel! The petroglyphs are very well preserved. That's nice to see. Looks like the wild bunch rode pass the panel 😀Alex, you did a great video! Thanks for sharing!
Alex... Amazed by the petroglyphs and the valley.... Is part five coming up? Wonder if there's simular petroglyphs in the region.... If the artist created more panels? Ingvar.
Hello Ingvar, I spoke to someone who trekked the Butler Wash area and he said he saw several other petroglyphs by the same artist. This month I will produce part 5 of several sites located near Moab - Utah.......alex
I really hope these glyphs can be preserved. I see idiots putting graffiti near them or even on them. Worse, they deface them, which really is a crime against human history. Thank you for a well done video.
What a beautiful video! I just discovered you yesterday and it being unbelievably hot in Oakland today, it feels right to trek with you to the wonderful sites you present. As a "haoli" this is not my culture, but as an American, I feel deeply moved by the history of the ancient Pueblo people as I do the history of the ancient Hawaiians. Thank you so much

knutbbyro here Wow is right, thanks for the hikes, they are well done. As an 81 year old who still hikes and lives in southern Idaho, can you give me a pointer where to start looking for a few more years of hiking. I know of the Butler Wash area. Thanks

I would like to question. How did humanity go from cave paintings to stick figures? With the idea of progression. Shouldn't the artwork get better the closer to our time. Yet it goes in reverse. The oldest is the best then stopped. Then nothing but stick figure some what representatives. Goes for carving and building as well. Blows the "experts" ideas out of the water
Maryann, across the gully from the petroglyphs there were the remains of several dwelling and storage units. There were many pottery fragments on the ground and due to the sloping nature of the site I could see that over the years the majority of these fragments had been washed down into the gully. I actually filmed that site about 5 years ago..........................alex
Alex .. Simply marvelous. I always wonder why there are no pictos or petros representing pots or baskets. Anyway, can you give us an idea where you were based and how long it took you to reach these panels? I plan to visit these sites in the near future and hence the question. Your obviously a professional film maker best way I've seen on this subject matter along with choice of music. I sub'd you and rang you bell for more, thanks.
Kachina or spaceman? In many of the other petroglyphs, hands were drawn in such a manner, if not claw-looking, certainly the same spindly looking as this one. Now if the wolf prints were, say, right underneath the man's feet, or even immediately on either side of his body, I might possibly agree with you, but they were far enough away from him that, to me at least, it's a stretch to identify them with the man. But there were some interesting other glyphs that were very well done that I'd love to know about.
Cris, much is left to speculation as the people who produced these images did not leave a record of their meaning. However, it seems that many of the depictions in the region display religious, social, and every day life scenes.......alex

@@australianhuntanstuff Thank you for the reply. I am aware of the Electric Universe ideas and I do believe that there are ancient symbols that are connected to observations that mankind has made which were observed as man looked up to the cosmos. However, nowhere in the writings of the David Talbot or Wallace Thornhill do they claim that "all" petroglyph motifs are "just electrified megnetospheres". Show us where these gentlemen actually say this. Also, a native making a petroglyph of a bird, an insect, or plant, or another object does not have to rush to make that specific petroglyph. Why would someone rush to produce and image when the image he is creating is something that is in front of him, that he is looking at, using, or interacted with on a daily basis. The same goes for ancient pictographs. Some are definitely associated with the cosmos. However, for example, pictographs made by Cavemen in Chauvet Cave ,some of which are over 30,000 years old, have nothing to do with the Electric Universe.
