I've watched multiple tutorials on how to color match and no one has shown the match color option except you. So much easier than all the steps everyone else was doing. thanks!
Great work - I have looked at several color matching tutorials recently and whilst this method is not the most technically precise, it is the simplest & most practical to use.
I viewed other tuts on this subject and this one is the best and most easy to follow. I find color matching difficult but your style of teaching works best for me. Most grateful!
This was great. I have not worked much with the Image Adjustments so it is a fascinating new area for me. Unfortunately, I missed the live presentation this week. See you next Thursday.
i'm such a newbie in photoshop and i always heard "create a clipping mask here, there" and was like... okay, but why? what is this? and now i'm mind blown, there's so much to learn, but i's such a powerful tool, i'm having a blast with this channel's content!
what makes it easier is that, they explain why they do the things they do, maybe it's a silly thing such as copying and pasting a layer just for the sake of comparisson later, but that way i learn so much more than what i went looking for and i'm always grateful when people do that!
Hello again. Well this is quite extraordinary as I was JUST looking at different approaches to colour matching when this tutorial notification came in!! Furthermore, I was actually trying out this exact method of 'match colour'. Prior to this, I was looking into doing the same kind of thing using curves and the alt / auto button - 'find dark and light colours' function for correct toning. I guess these could be combined. As always, your Photoshop methods and your way of teaching them are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
You are absolutely fantastic, mister! I have learned a lot from your tutorials and I can't thank you enough for that 🙏. I watch you every time and all your videos are on my favourite list. Have a great time and stay safe, please. Thank you!
Hi Collin This was a great tutorial. Honestly, I never knew that you could use the match color under the adjustments. Thanks for your great tutorials. Pat Hogarty
Colin in the tutorial when you "apply layer mask" and it gives transparency (for the shadow step) I see it on the video (several times lol). When I apply the mask it just shows me the cutout person (i.e. I do not get transparent pixels. Can you think of what I could be doing wrong? The color match portion was great but I am stumped on this item. Tx
Click on the layer of the girl. Ctrl/Cmd J to copy the layer. Turn the visibility of the new layer off. Go back to the layer of the girl. Right Click on the Layer Mask. Choose Apply Layer Mask. This should result in the girl being surrounded by transparency which you will see on the layer thumbnail. To view the transparency at full screen turn off all other layers.
Love your tutorials! I'm a beginner sooo YES I learned a LOT of new things... will have to watch it again...and again :-) to really be able to use it..
I think I found myself another good photoshop coach. after Unmesh for piximperfect and Jesus Ramirez for photoshop training channel. there is no particular order of preference though but I'm definitely adding Colin Smith as another go-to guy once I need anything regarding photoshop. I love your simplicity and straight to the point approach to explaining photoshop. Thumbs up @Colin Smith.
Your tutorials are so helpful, thank you :). I'm trying to match an HDRI (32 bits) to a reference photo (8 bits) and was wondering if there is some simple workflow to follow.
Yep - gotta give this a try! I do a lot of compositing - dropping 3D rendered characters or props into photo backgrounds. I can usually get the lighting matched up pretty well in the 3D apps, but this will help give the final image tat extra edge. Great stuff, Colin! See you Thursday! 👍
