THIS IS SO GOOD! I think my favourite part is how physical you make Jon's powers, all his hand movements, splitting Peter in too, running away or walking forwards boldly, how the fear manifests as something he's pulling from people or crying, etc...
Also favourite details: the occasional ace ring, skirts (baby jon!!!), and Tim seeing Jon at the Unknowing…
Thank you so much! I am slightly devastated that most of the scenes in which Jon's full body is visible happen to coincide with when I headcanon him wearing pants. I want to draw more skirts.
Huh I didn't take kid jon as wearing a shirt. I thought they were little shorts as seems was very popular for young school age boys at like boarding schools and what not.

@@prronce ehhhh not necessarily trans, although there is a lot of fanwork that represents him that way. Personally I see Jon as someone who's running for his life too much to be caught up in gender roles.
I love the transition from Episode 159 to 160. The characters and the audience have probably never felt more positively about Jon’s powers in those moments...and then we’re all pulled back brutally into reality
1) I appreciate that Elias is a whole ass warning on his own. 2) Song choice is just *chef's kiss* 3) I love each and every character design, I am in honest awe!!!!

Yet more good moments: The perspective on the 'creeping in your bed' panel, Jon's ace ring, Jane Prentiss, 'ain't afraid of no ghosts' syncing up with Georgie, the beat kicking in with Nicola's entrance, the entire coma sequence, Peter Lukas getting compelled, that shot of Jon using the eye like a lantern in the lonely, the tentacle crawling out of the mug... (I have watched this waaaay too many times)

I don't think it was until this animatic that I realized Jon used compulsion to rescue Martin in the Lonely and to "wake up" Tim during the Unknowing. Dang, this is just fire!! You did an absolutely mind-blowing job!!

I like the idea of John consistently looking inhuman during the apocalypse. Like, he's not human anymore and I think it's nice to acknowledge that visually
Holyyyyy shit this is an absolute masterpiece!!!! Everything you showed worked so well with the lyrics, first of all, the art was gorgeous, the transitions were amazing (especially the dream sequence and Jon to young Jon with the spider web strands oh my godddd) and the ace ring was the cherry on top! I have a feeling I'm going to be rewatching this Many A Time so thank you so much for putting it out into the world ❤
I learned about ace rings a few weeks ago and immediately had to go back over every frame which shows his right hand so I could add it in. I'm so excited that people are noticing that detail, and even more excited to start wearing one myself

I- I HAVE NO WORDS. The EDITING and ART DIRECTION and CREATIVITY!!!! I was originally just going to make a comment laughing at "content warning: Elias Bouchard" but you have truly blown me away and I had to say something more. This animatic exemplifies the series so well. 10/10 job, my friend.

FUN FACT! I was rewatching the WIP version of this and was like “huh I wonder how op is still planning to finish that” and low and behold 59 minutes ago it was posted u read my fucking mind!
That being said HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHITTTT this whole thing is sTuNniNG!! I’m absolutely OBSESSED with the way you do transitions it flows SO WELL. The scene with Jon’s coma dreams??? Hello??? I’m gonna pass out how do you even DO that?! I also love the limited colour palletes with the bright greens and harsh reds and yellows they fit so well with the tone of the video and the podcast in general. Plus the way the main red is limited until the apocalypse hits and then it’s the main pallets?? Chefs kiss. And of course I still love the entire scene from the original WIP video for all the reasons I commented originally. I’m so tempted to just write an entire essay on like every scene in this animatic ahHhh.
I will say even though my favourite scene is the dreams section, the lonely is definitely a close second. I love the way you used the fog to do transitions. Have I mentioned I love your transitions? Too bad I’m mentioning it again! I am definitely gonna be watching this on repeat for the next several days thanks so much for completing it omg!!! I’m so happy to see it done I owe you my life.

i dont even know where to begin with how amazing this is, its like reliving the whole plot!!! and it fits so well with the song!!! and nikola's design in particular is wonderfully unsettling in a way i rarely see! (bc im a bit immune to the whole creepy doll/clown thing)
and the crown of eyes for the watchers crown!!! and the everything honestly!!!! the panopticon thanking for watching also is a small touch that kinda has me going ham
Thank you!! I spent a good while adjusting my Nikola design to one I was happy with, and which could still be simplified for the cartoon style of the animatic without losing too much of the creep factor. I definitely want to paint her properly sometime.
I can't stop watching this. On my most recent viewing, I realized that the green Mark's on Jon that light up while he's reading elias' statement were his scars. I thought they were eyes appearing on his body. That's an amazing touch. I love this whole heartedly.

Holy fuck, the eyes being arranged in the shape of a crown is so fuckin' inspired, especially since its towards the end when hes clearly grown into his role as avatar

Jonah might as well be the blindest character in tma. For he is after all, the avatar of the eye. The most naive power. He lived countless lifetimes before figuring out the secret behind the rituals which Gertrude did in less then one. Sacrificed everything just for the puppet to sit upon his throne while he bled out on the floor and on top of all that- he was just a pawn in someone else's plan . He is truly - the avatar of the eye, for with all the knowledge in the world, he refuses to comprehend just like his master

Ok Ik it's been a year but this is still one of the absolute best Magnus archives animatics. The song choice is so perfect it honestly seems like it was made Abt the show. Like even "15 men on a dead man's chest sinking to the bottom of the sea" there being 15 fears that haunt and kill and drag ppl down (counting desolation) like how is it so perfect and all the character designs are just *chef's kiss*
I'm so glad you noticed that the 15 men correlates with the 15 fears! That's a detail I didn't notice myself until it was pointed out to me when I'd almost finished the animatic. This is truly the tma song that just keeps giving.

there's so many specific images I love, like how you drew Jon sucking the fear out of people, or pushing through Peter like he's smoke THE PART WHERE THE CIRCUS STARTS????? The transition through the door to Georgie is so great too, and you got the TEETH APPLE in there

This is so incredible well done I can’t even express it! The way the music matched the plot so well, the angles and color palettes and cinematic directing, the creativity in t transitions and way that every time the art changed with the dramatic beats of the music the emotional response I felt was just so incredibly strong! You are so incredibly talented!
I've watched this animatic a ridiculous amount of times and I've only just noticed how the "A" turns to an "E" when Jon asks Martin what he sees and I'm losing my mind because that's such a great detail!!!!!

I have seen so many excellent animatics of the Magnus Archives. I have yet to see one that so fully leans into how horrifying some of the creatures here could actually be. Your Nikola Orsinov design in particular is something I won't be forgetting for a very long time.
I love all of this but especially the unknowing and the coma parts! Ur nikola is AMAZING and having the chains around the coffin become the web is just. Aaaaaa so good!!
This is such a fantastic animatic!!! The attention to detail in everything, I loved the cuts and the spiders were so scary and I love the way you represented Jon taking statements from people. The little exhale before he goes through the portal and the fact that his chest rises and falls! And from the pan up from his feet too just every single thing about this animatic is so well done. I'm so impressed and I'm really glad you uploaded this!
