  • ✨ little announcement: ✨
I filmed this video before I made this decision so I'll be talking about it a bit more in my next video, but I've decided to temporarily switch to uploading once every two weeks instead of every week, as I've just gotten way too busy. I'm hoping to go back to the normal upload schedule by summer, so please bear with me!
anyway, this video covers a topic close to my heart: redemption arcs! while this is probably one of my favourite types of growth arcs, i think a lot of writers tend to mishandle the actual journey of redemption-which is why i decided to use Joseph Campbell's The Hero's Journey to try to tackle redemption arcs!
this is just my take on things, because of course, ✨ prescriptivist writing advice is for cornflake-eating nerds ✨
if you have any thoughts on redemption arcs, specifically which ones you think work well vs. which ones you think don't, feel free to comment below! i love to hear your guys' input and expertise. :)
    i upload every other thursday/friday :)

I really really enjoyed watching this video! From the beginning I was already intrigued bc I realized how much story I’ve been missing out on from the villain’ s perspective. The drawn out story example was also perfect! thanks for a great, really well-explained video c:

this was really interesting to watch! even as someone who isn't really into writing and more into reading, it's still cool to know how to craft redemption arcs successfully - i'll definitely be keeping this in mind when reading future books!

wow you just made a video of the trope I personally feel incredibly tired of seeing, it's so often badly written and predictible. I think I'd like to go out of my way to avoid this, and try to use some creativity to write different scenarios. Thank you for shining a light on it. love your video
