Life savor 😭😭
I'm sitting here thinking about how I want to tell my own story of surviving stage 4 cancer. I can relate to the architipical hero's journey and the call to adventure. It's a fundamental truth of our struggle in this life and understanding that what helped me survive.
This film has evoked an overlayed story of my own in my mind's eye. Good films do that to people. I think this is great!
Sometimes, trying to tell our own story just comes across as a series of events. Stories that manifest around those experiences, true enough to capture the essence of what you survived, are often the best.
I might read that
I would also look at the five stages of grief. It can be hard to know what all you were feeling at any given time, but maybe seeing them all written out can help you understand the process and make sure you can put it into words.
Holy shit dude. The amount of work behind this video is astonishing!
Thank you!!
This video is made on a book.... Idiot....
@@alokshah5194 There is no reason to be rude... Anyway, at the end of the video he writes the books he took the info from, and by the way, even by reading everything, it takes a lot to explain so much in such a dense and well composed video.
@@alokshah5194 you have no clue about reality or how things are made, the creator clearly put a lot of time and care into this.
@@alokshah5194 that book is based on another book which is based on thousands of other books. Your arteries are connected to your body which is an organism moving around this earth, which is also made of trillions of other micro organisms. These organisms reproduce with themselves forming other different micro organisms which are slightly different from the original, suffering mutation and transformation. Campbell read thousands of books and found a consensus. Vogler made that consensus into an easily digestible and less academic version. Truby found another path worthy of another book. There is no 1 book and there is no 1 hero’s journey.
Joesph Campbell would be massively impressed with your effort and enthusiasm to tell the next generation about the "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" main story point. I was spell bound and inspired to go back out there and get back on my Own Hero's Journey.
WICKED MAN thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts
you know whats even more incredible than watching a motivational video that tells you how heros do it...
its joseph campbell's work who went on to prove that you are the hero yourself, hero dont always shoot lazers and demons are not always horned beasts who spit fire, and the treasure is not always material and shiny. but we all know a hero when we see one, be it in movies ,stories or real life, because we recognize the hero in ourself that we can become
This is insanely underappreciated; the intro, the pace, the music, the explanation, the outro, everything is superb. 👏👌
This video should be translated and spread out in South Korea 😢masterpiece
This video is the closest thing to perfection in explaining the Hero's Journey. I'm so glad I stumbled upon it. Thank you for creating it!
yes, "stumbled" upon it on our journey. nice work indeed
How does it fit into big daddy from kick ass movie and David Dunn
Thankyou. A great awakening is upon us. Xx
This is by far the best video I have seen not only regarding the hero's journey but one of the most informative and well made in terms of production quality regarding any psychological concept. You honestly deserve a lot more views. :)
Nova Thank you Nova for the kind words. :-)
Very much agreed. Keep up the amazing work!!
Completely agree!
This was almost spiritual...we are all heros on our journeys of life.
I died
@@jiojiojoj In their view they are heros too.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Thank You! 🙏
I watched this 3 times in a row and felt that I absorbed more from it than the whole Bill Moyers Joseph Campbell series, the Christopher Vogel book, and the John Truby book, which I absorbed over many years. This is because of the illustrations and succinctness of the key stages in the hero's journey are illustrated by ... my favorite movies of all time. Truly this is a profound service for storytellers, psychologists, and all human beings. Thank you Mr. Aslan. This is an example of extraordinary synthesis and good work. Simplification of complexity with such eloquence and illustration is an act of genius and philanthropy. Thank you. 🙏
Thank you for the kind words!
One of the rare youtube video, where I did not press pause button
This video is a great example to visual storytelling, take any content and keep the audience engaged , well done
Thank you. Thank you is inadequate. But thank you. This is THE BEST VIDEO on RUclips and the Internet. It brought me to tears and lit a fire. Absolutely, utterly incredible. Marvelous and magnificent!
Powerful, profound and the best version of The Hero's Journey. It has been meaningful for my clients and myself. Thank you.
Little addition to t his wonderful work: The word Mentor doesn't come from mentis (latin) but from Mentor, the friend of Odysseus! He was the"mentor" who taught and mentored Odysseus and his family. Athena talked through him! See also:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mentor_%28Odyssey%29 Thank you, your journey is amazing!
This honestly deserves a lot more views. Excellent work, my friend.
Hi
I do transformational work with clients and I have them watch this before they work with me because part of the program focuses on The Heroe's Journey. Great Work my brother!
The best on the subject. This video along with some of the more academic ones is all an aspiring writer needs (assuming creativity, talent and practice).
This is one of the few videos I come back to every few weeks to watch over and over again. When I watch this I imagine myself in where I am in my hero's journey and how I've been refusing the call over and over again
Back again
Again but with more awareness
back again!
again!
This is absolutely, without doubt, is the best documentary I have seen to date about Joseph Campbell brilliant work, the hero with a thousand faces. We are all heros and heroines in our own story. Thank you for this brilliant work.
Thank you. I'm using the Hero's Journey to bring structure to a memoir I'm writing about my year on active duty with the US Army in Afghanistan.
I just got to take my own hero's journey!!! How privileged I am!!! It was an amazing journey 💜💚💙
Great work mate. This video deserves more views as it's the best video I came across regard the Hero's Journey
You have made one of the most accessible, consice videos regarding the hero's journey. I teach a High School film class, and this has become my go-to when we look at this genre. Thank you for the hard work.
That's how you tell stuff of legends!
It always good to understand the hero's journey what give us insights on our own journey to ReDiscover of ourself accomplish things that will never stop to be possible thank you
Excellent. Expands my understanding of heroes journey.
Thank you for your effort on creating this video. It represent my journey that i had survived from tremendous disaster on last 2020. From being dismissed thrice, sacked out by university even until negative income statement. Everything that i had encountered before makes me become a hero of my own journey.
Once again, thanks for video explanation, Marco!
After studying The Hero's Journey for several years, this is the best video summarizing it. I believe the Hero's Journey needs to be emphasized at all levels of education in the U.S. I would encourage the producers of this piece could creat a very elementary level explanation for the 5 and 6 year old?
Incredible! I keep watching over and over and get more understanding each time. I highly recommend.
Fantastic video!! Thank you so much
This is not the type of video I was expecting but I’m sure glad it’s what I got!
Incredible video. Started crying for some reason. Beautiful.
ive watched this 4 or 5 times and have shown my family this informative piece and they have all been gripped start to finish - this is amazing work I can't get enough
Marvin Glass thank you Marvin
@@marcoaslan and I also love your new series that you've put together on storytelling - such powerful stuff!!!
Only a couple minutes in, and already I can tell this video is pretty much a master class on the subject. Astonishing levels of detail, and lots of movie examples for excellent variety to drive home the point that much further. Seriously, well done friend!
Now I know what I always wanted. Thanks you Bro you have changed my life 🙏🙏🙏
A video for life. Every life. Truly the most enlightening video of all time.
Thank you for the kind words
This is fantastic and worth watching numerous times... until completely internalized.
This is an incredible production. Thank you.
The best hero’s journey video on YT.
I managed to get a master’s in writing studies without ever getting this kind of breakdown of storytelling. Remarkable
OH PLEASE run it through a CC generator so educators can use it in the classroom! Thank you--this is brilliant and I want to share it with my students but it's not CC'd so it's illegal to use it in classes.
Well done! Thank-you for making this video about Campbell's work and adding visual examples to make those important connections in modern day storytelling.
Thank you for the kind words. Keep in mind that storytelling is inherently not modern. Modernity is all about top-down planning and deconstructing storytelling itself. 😉. Moderns don’t believe in plot, they think it can be a straight arrow with no rough edges. Storytelling and fractals go hand in hand.
Maybe the best video on youtube for 2022....Yes indeed.
OMG, THIS IS A BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BREAKDOWN. I was captured and mesmerised by how creatively it has been put together. The energy and impact left me crying. THANK YOU 💕
Right on man! Keep myth alive! 👍🏻

10:03 The Critical Factor
11:36 Meeting With The Mentor

Hard to find content on this, but nice to know someone else is invested in this story stuff too
This was actually an amazing video, I had to watch it for class but, still a really good video. 100/10
The single greatest video on the Internet. ⚓
This was amazing! Thank you :)
Amazing video, very well done! Makes me wanna write my own story!
I've been trying to learn more about story-telling for a while now and fully comprehending the hero's journey has been a little tough for me. Most videos I watched and texts I read about this don't seem to go into very much detail or deliver good and various examples because the hero's journey has so many steps and it takes a while when it becomes very detailed. This video was just what I needed.
It really speaks for your talent that this informative video on story-telling almost made me cry like a well-told story. :)
Great video to come back to from time to time. :)
Amazing. So now dear Marco, you are the Mentor.
Hi Marco, thank you for making this video. You have no idea how this has helped me battled my depression and anxiety problem. Thank you!
Hey man, thank you for mentioning this . It means a lot to know it helped you.
First of all, great video, loved the examples you used.
Second, I find your voice is way too mesmerising for me NOT to pay attention to.
You have earned my LIKE.
Not only does this give an important lesson, but the video is clear and understandable. Great video!!
WOW SHIKES I’ve not yet read Joseph Campbell HWATF but this is so extremely exactly reflectory on my life experiences that I might aswell be looking at a mirror. I was spiritually risen, tested but eventually I succumbed to my nafs and fears
This is the best video I have seen on the Hero's Journey. Clearly you put in a lot of time and effort into making this, so thank you. It's so so helpful!
It is so beautiful acquiring that new knowledge after a long hard fought battle having overcome the resistance once and for all at least in this arc in my life and then passing on what I have learned to others who walk the same road I just walked. Equally beautiful is starting a new journey with and learning from a new mentor.
It was brilliant. This video woke up something deep inside me. I almost cried a couple of times during watching. Thanks brother!
Very moving production. Excellent film references, soundtrack and voice work. Thank you for your effort.
OMG this has to be the best explanation of the hero's journey. Thanks a lot for making this. You finally made me clear all these messy concepts around my head. Gracias😭👏
Brilliant. Combining Jungian concepts with cinematic clips in this orderly manner is wonderful. Well done and thanks!
Thank you Mr. Aslan. Awesome.
Surprisingly wonderful.
My teacher was out in my senior year of high school the entire quarter with cancer and we were still expected to read and understand the entire book, and produce a 4-5 page essay. this carried my essay.

We like having our bias be proven wrong.
2:28
A good story can change our perception and help us change the bias of our interpretation of reality.
Huge fan of Campbell's work. You have put an gigantic effort to make this video as palatable as possible. It's highly remarkable work!
This was such a great video about the Hero's Journey!
This is the best Hero's Journey video I have ever seen! Amazing work!
Very well put together video! Fully understand the hero’s journey now, thank you
I’m only 40 pages into the book and your video is truly inspirational! Amazing work!
This is the BEST video on this subject I have EVER seen!!!
Marco this is a wonderful piece of work. Beautifully written, edited and produced. I want to watch it over and over again and then watch all the movies you’ve referenced and then watch it again. Mesmerising and seemless
Arlo Tonkin thank you Arlo
Like a Dungeon Master, stories must be created in this way.
Discovered this just when I needed it! Thank you... absolutely one of the most valuable videos on the subject!
I am in utter astonishment.
Marco Aslan,
Bravo! Amazing and well done! Your approach to the ultimate human subject of "the hero's journey" is brilliant and elegantly simple for anyone that likes movies to sink into.
Many thanks for identifying these many films that are both unique and similar versions of the hero's story.
With appreciation and gratitude for this great work!
I wanted to add that your work spoke to me of how the process and disciplined practice of creating and editing film/video stories can be a path for achieving "flow" and enlightenment.
Honestly deserve more views. Excellent Work!!!!
Amazing, amazing video
WOW!!! Very well put..❤️❤️❤️❤️
30 minutes just flew by, I was spellbound. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Man as someone who does video essays too, I can't imagine the amount of work you put into this. You just earned a sub from me! Your channel is very underrated.
Thank you
Fantastic
Great job Marco! 🙂
gracias
Wow. What a smart and well crafted video. Great work with the research, examples, script, research and basically everything!
I sincerely admire your work! Thank you!
Thank you kindly
Beautifully done! I am going to show it to my 10th grade students before I start working on The Quest of the Golden Fleece for I am teaching the play Medea and they need to learn the backstory first. I constantly ask whether or not they believe Jason to be a hero. Thank you for this!
That voice, so deep. And great visuals.
Masterpiece. Bravo Aslan!
This was extremely well done! Great job.
Beautifully put together. Great work! Thank you so much
Excellent video. Thank you.
