Watched your video on Waggler fishing on the canal - inspired me to get back into canal fishing. Believe it or not I haven't fished a match for more than 40 years (BAA under 14 champ in the 70s - still got the trophy) now signed up for a match on the Grand Union next week. 40 years must be a record for time between matches 😂 Inspirational stuff mate. Tight lines!
Yet again Jon another excellent video and yet again you fished a very tidy match looking forward to seeing how you get on in the other matches thanks Richie
Just brilliant vids, these. Appreciate they are probably a pain to put together but they are much appreciated. Great to see how a pro puts a match together. Cheers.
Bloody good angler our local legend Matt Godfrey. As always Jon, a well-presented upload for a well-fished match. An informative enjoyable watch...cheers.
Fantastic video Jon! Never fished a river but you made it look easy. Your skill and talent is unprecedented!!! Really enjoyed that. All the best mate 👍🎣💪💪
Great start John! Really love these vids mate, as a relative newcomer to natural venue pole fishing the detail you include is so helpful. Cant thank you enough for the effort you put in.
Great video as normal Jon. Love that peg and it's fished very well this season. The Hydro Power coming off the weir now has benefitted our fishing at Littlemore AS.
Always better with some on it and switched on with some colour always rock hard when it's clear perch down the edge was always my favourite trick too 👍
hope you get the woods or rushes at culham big bream especially the hi viz peg in the woods my prediction for abingdon peg 1 on the bend 40-50lb + if the bream are still showing im an abingdon regular :)
Sadly all the Bream vanished weeks ago as no colour or flow and with the bright sunshine. Historically the end pegs might see a few bream day 1 then they vanish the next two days. Not sure any bream at all were caught by anyone day 1. You’re right about Culham reeds being the place to be...
Don't know if you tried the inside line with hemp and tares, used to be my favourite method with fish (Roach) almost under my feet( Waders on) Well Done Jon anyway, keep em coming.
Thanks, they are a real fish mash of mostly vintage ones including Browning Speed Sticks, Shimanos plus a couple of Matrix Power Whips. I've possibly had some of them 15+ years and should really look at investing in a new set!
Hi John! Congrats for results!why u prefer to drop groundbait and hemp on the lefty side of your peg instead of the right. I have this question because the river have some flow and it could result on the withdrawal of your feed, or make fishies Run out of center of peg Keep on bagging 👍
Unless you don't have room below or it's flowing extremely fast you should always feed in front of downstream of you depending on the flow. Roach will naturally sit above the food and you need your rig in position and working in the swim before it gets over the feed. 👍
Thanks for the help new to fishing. What groundbait should I use for murky water (like chocolate) i like to use Micros mixed with swim stim betaine green
Thanks Ollie. This isn't really the place for that kind of question but if a product is less than 12 months old you should always take it back to the place of purchase if you suspect there is a problem. There is no white Slik elastic and none graded 14-18, so perhaps you have something different in the kit, plus the match kits are only rated to a 12 and the power kits to an 18, so maybe you've used the wrong kit. If not and the kit has been used multiple times and now broken the there's a chance it's had a knock, either in transit or while fishing. All top kits from all manufacturers can accidentally break occasionally so maybe you've just been unlucky as there is no issue I'm aware of. Hope that helps.
Great video as always Jon! Just out of curiosity from a novice, why do you use a bait dropper on a river and not pot the feed in on that line? I’m presuming the answer is really obvious haha 👍
That’s the problem Jon when your cupping out Long. A Two ounce ball of GB weighs around 2cwt by the time it gets past 11 mtrs or certainly feels like it!😬💪
These river matches are just fantastic, from a pleasure anglers view it is fascinating to watch you go through the process pre-whistle. Love it.
Glad you like them!
Natural venues or commercial, your uploads are superb. Thanks Jon.
Glad you like them!
Like a young Clive Branson just very good at your job all the very best
Thanks PJ :-)

Glad it helps Matt
Cracking video jon
Thanks Mike
Hi. Jon.a great result from a class angler..keep it up mate...
Thanks 👍
Great video as normal Jon. Love that peg and it's fished very well this season. The Hydro Power coming off the weir now has benefitted our fishing at Littlemore AS.
Thanks Alan, that explains the flow then. Wish the entire Thames flowed a bit more!
love sandford haven't fished for years but will be starting up again in the new season so hopefully the barbel are still knocking about
Hi ! Very good fishing arthur !!
Thanks Arnaud 👍
Good Video, looking forward to how you get on at
Abingdon
Fingers crossed!
Awesome jon
Cheers! 👍
Great video you know your watching Jon because you always see a pair of legs with 2 pints of bait stuck to them 😀
It was only a pint, I’ve told you a billion times don’t exaggerate 😂😂😂
@@JonArthur haha was just teasing great video though and good luck with the next few days fishing 🎣
Great vid as always mate lol love the comment your water skier has come off
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cracking vid. 👍
Thanks 👍
Great result first day
Thanks mate
great days fishing jon dam them pesky pike lol you had the same problem on your last river vid i think top man top angler
They were jumping clean out the water but sadly never got any of that on camera :-(
Brilliant video john reminds me of fishing the Warwickshire Avon lol whens the 2and video coming
It's up now!
Always better with some on it and switched on with some colour always rock hard when it's clear perch down the edge was always my favourite trick too 👍
sehr schönes Video danke
Danke 👍
But Jon.....you are a right good angler as well. :-)
I try

Please make a video about cooking hemp and turning casters.
He's already done one on hemp and tares.
Check out my Evesham Festival video
Don't know if you tried the inside line with hemp and tares, used to be my favourite method with fish (Roach) almost under my feet( Waders on) Well Done Jon anyway, keep em coming.
It never felt right on this match/peg. Too shallow and cabbagey and pikey. But other days yes.
great vid as always , could you tell me please what make of whips you were using ? thanks
Thanks, they are a real fish mash of mostly vintage ones including Browning Speed Sticks, Shimanos plus a couple of Matrix Power Whips. I've possibly had some of them 15+ years and should really look at investing in a new set!

Keep on bagging 👍
It's to stop the fish coming upstream and being caught by the angler on the peg above.
Unless you don't have room below or it's flowing extremely fast you should always feed in front of downstream of you depending on the flow. Roach will naturally sit above the food and you need your rig in position and working in the swim before it gets over the feed. 👍
Are you videoing the Culham match? I know where that'll be won from off the High Bank opisite the willow tree
It's coming and it was a typically hard day being the 3rd match in a row
another great video jon, can i ask where you get your hemp from it looked fantastic, tight lines.
Uncooked hemp from Lanes Tackle in Coventry
Well done mate not far off, did the perch bites drop off and that's why you moved out as they looked the better quality fish?
Rare to catch perch for more than 30-40 mins unless there’s a big shoal of them. It’s just a place to kick off normally
What pole rig should I use if I want silver fish but there is alot of big carp in the lake where I'm fishing. Well done I've learnt Alot
Hard to do both but an 0.12 hooklength and light 8-10 slik with a puller kit should give you a fighting chance with bonus carp this time of year.
Thanks for the help new to fishing. What groundbait should I use for murky water (like chocolate) i like to use Micros mixed with swim stim betaine green
Name of float you couldnt remember is a Colmic stream passante
That’s the one 👍
Well done Jon great result considering your filming I should know as it can cost a fish or two when I do my Vlogs
Thanks Clive! 👍
Another great vid. Wish people would get your name right Jon!
Sir Jon! 🤓
Well done mate how are you doing
OK thanks
Nice vid pal. I baught the mtx4 and had a top kit snap on 14/18 white slick. Is there a problem with thr topkits?
Thanks Ollie. @@JonArthur OK pal cheers.
Great video as always Jon! Just out of curiosity from a novice, why do you use a bait dropper on a river and not pot the feed in on that line? I’m presuming the answer is really obvious haha 👍
Because it was flowing too fast close in so it guarantees the bait goes where you want it, not out the peg
Hi Jon, where are your little clear bait tubs from?
I think they're from Lakelands. I'm a tupperware freak so always on the look out for the right tubs!
How could you leave Glensie out of your top 5 thames anglers , outrageous 😳 😂😂
I only named my top 4 and based on current form not history ;-)
Was u on the thames the last week of August
No sorry not me, this vid was just a fortnight ago
Where do you get your hemp from Jon?
Lanes in Coventry
Helo
Helo
Don’t any body fish the stick float any more
When it flows a bit more closer in and the fish are beyond pole range yes, but you won't beat a pole if not
That’s the problem Jon when your cupping out Long.
A Two ounce ball of GB weighs around 2cwt by the time it gets past 11 mtrs or certainly feels like it!😬💪
Ive watched the Italians potting 40+ balls of heavy leam 13m on internationals and was tired just watching them!
