i really like all the live fast tempo stuff when kurt was cranking out sets in late 94 but that about a girl version u picked was fucking flawless!! from kurts savage growl to krists chunk bass tone that was a good pick for that year
@@unkownperson7051 abit late to the party but I believe I can help with this whole pan/Pam mix up. By saying late 94, I believe he was meaning the late part of nirvana career and used 94 as reference to nirvana ending in 94. Either way they made it here to this video on their own so let's not Nirvana history Bible thump him for commenting. Peace
It never ceases to amaze me how not a single soul can hear the backing vocals in Nirvana during live performances. They are always there and plain as day. Dave harmonized so well with Kurt it was hard to hear sometimes but they were always there. Just not as edited and changed to be so loud since it is kinda hard to do with the drummer playing so loud next to the microphone. The About a Girl that played was faster in this live example as the Reading 92 concert wasn't as fast and is my favorite one live. That particular live performance is my favorite altogether as it was more of the true form they played and they enjoyed themselves a ton. Heart Shaped Box the 1st live performance is another of my favorite ones. Kurt may not have softened his voice like studio live but if your trying to blast an hour and a half of musical hits and sing it all at once you don't have time to calm down and take it soft. The tempo was set by Dave and he readily admitted he is the worst drummer at playing a click track so he goes at the tempo that feels right at the time since he has a tendency to speed up. the solos you get live were off the wall and meant to be 'sloppy' as they were things that Kurt would just play. A musician will just play to experiment with the sound he can make with his instrument. Kurt was also known for always having his pedal used the same one all the time for all performances as well. Butch Vig tells about it as well. Not saying he didn't have different pedals but he had a favorite.
Lithium played at the Seattle Center Colliseum in 1992, VMA 92 and October 31 1991 Paramount show are my fav performances of the song and Been a Son from that night. What a fucking kick ass concert that was.
The problem is most of live songs was recorded with poor quality. Probably in some of the live performances they sounded great or even better than studio, but there are just a few concerts recorded with high quality like Reading II, Live And Loud, Paramount, etc.
Very good video, you can do a video about the sound of Fender Mustang and Jaguar in Nirvana concert? Just like "Fender Mustang VS Fender Jaguar in Nirvana concerts" (sorry for my bad english, i am chilean :v)
I don't know I think the bleach songs are good live, but most of in utero better in studio. Of course there's certain concerts where they played better than others. COOL Video thanks.
Kurt Cobain was sent from the music gods to change a once horrible Era of music into what we than and now know as grunge, thank god for that!! And the rest is history
I think all of Kurt's guitar solos were better in the studio than live. When they played live, it seemed like Kurt was extra sloppy with his solos. More concerned with jumping around than keeping time or playing in the right key, for example. Not to say that his guitar work in the studio wasn't sloppy (it often was), it was just even sloppier live, usually.
90% of Kurt Cobains live music had a faster tempo so he could blast thru each song and get off stage faster as he really disliked much of his onstage performance career.
It's actually just a common thing for all rock bands to do, from Pearl Jam to the Smashing Pumpkins to Bruce Springsteen. There is always a tendency performing live to play the songs faster.
Yeah, he definitely had confidence in his songs and the worth of them (while hating ones like STLS later on.) Rock bands just sometimes play faster because it would get boring playing at studio tempo every single live performance, it's to spice things up a bit.
scentless apprentice sound better in the studio version becasue kurt was able to get the more powerful screams out becasu3e he didn't have to sing for an hour every night in the studio
I'm not agree. Nirvana doesn't sound better in those low-fi mono recording takes. I prefer the studio for the sound. Kurt considered that the performance was the only important in studio sessions. It's why they keep the "territorial pissing" take with kurt's extinction voice at the end of the song. but thank you for proposing this top.
0:00 About A Girl

14:50 Scentless Apprentice
18:22 Aneurysm
i love studio negative creep ! he never gets that sound live
Rome Live 91
Properly because he doesn't palm-mute live, seems like he didn't even care
i really like all the live fast tempo stuff when kurt was cranking out sets in late 94 but that about a girl version u picked was fucking flawless!! from kurts savage growl to krists chunk bass tone that was a good pick for that year
Great Rare Content In late 94? He died early in 94

Before I even start I’m saying now that I wholeheartedly beg that Breed makes the list. It’s so good live.

Either way, I just really miss Nirvana!
Totally agree.
What a version of Aneurysm... total favorite.
I like the studio version of School actually. It has that deep bass sound with the ride cymbal and heavy bass.
Need more pleaaassseeee!!!:))))
But your definitely right about aneurysm. That's always awesome live.
first youtube video i've ever watched without any dislikes
theres one now but not from me
Amnesian
I'm going to put one there now, just to be a dick.
Amnesian
Shit, I hit the thumbs down, but then I changed it back to the thumbs up. But I still gave you and the other guy a thumbs down.

Negative creep version...love it!! :-)
I kinda like Stain studio, well that's my opinion. No pun intended
I also like Stain studio version a lot better, maybe because of the solo.
I don't like the sound of the studio version. The guitar sound is underwhealming. It might be the mix.
Nirvana is crazy
I don't know I think the bleach songs are good live, but most of in utero better in studio. Of course there's certain concerts where they played better than others. COOL Video thanks.
OK Cool version for me and another .
You could put a download link for the mp3 files of these presentations.
Agree, nicer than studio
You should do a video of a compilation of every nirvana solo
In what concerts were the songs played? (at least the About A Girl version)
description
yes, enjoy it.
Why no new vids
Sliver and Aneurysm for me.
Fabuleux
Definitely should have included Dive.
Kurt Cobain was sent from the music gods to change a once horrible Era of music into what we than and now know as grunge, thank god for that!! And the rest is history
I prefer School live but I still think the solo on the album is generally better.

@@TestMeatDollSteakin the In Utero shows he seemed to be more careful with the solos

+Jefferson Araujo Get it over and done with.
I dont think that’s very accurate nor aligning to Kurt’s interviews. It is your opinion however.

For me, all Nirvana's songs are better live
in memories Kurt Cobain 😞😢
In my opinion, All nirvana songs sound better live than studio, except for Radio Friendly.
In my opinion all songs sound better live than studio
Paul Battillo Definitely all the ones live at Reading imo
Not most artists
Do not like Scentless Apprentice at this speed, but verse part of song is awesome. Sounds like alien transmission.
blew sounds well on studio
some trivia:anyone know kurts (self proclaimed) favorite song to play live?...
Bradley Gilmer I think it was Drain you but don't quote me on that
Vendesta winner winner chicken dinner!!! straight outta kurts mouth-my absolute favorite song to play live-has to be "Drain you"...
Bradley Gilmer Wow drain you Is one of my favorites, I mean they all are, but it's at the top so is lounge act
Bradley Gilmer smells like teen spirit ;)
Breed sounds so much better live
And heart shapped box?
scentless apprentice sound better in the studio version becasue kurt was able to get the more powerful screams out becasu3e he didn't have to sing for an hour every night in the studio

"extinction voice", I like it 😉
About a girl is sped up...
That's how they did it live.
Breed and Territorial Pissings??
Jack Befort Breed in live and loud its the best live performance of breed in my opinion
NEGATIVE CREEP
any bleach's song sound better live
I disagree with number 1
This is ridiculous these songs sound different but not better, is simply men. In studio sounds great. End of the story
