Good show, been fishing like that since I was a kid with my dad. I'm 80 yrs now and still do it but pick my own crawlers.
My grandpa taught me that, it's weird how no matter what I throw at them, they always will eat a nightcrawler. God bless

Woo Richard Gene! For years I’ve used night crawlers just like that with no weight to catch bass cruising shorelines. Often they will hit them right after they hit the surface and start sinking. It works really well for clear water and spooky fish.

Good video, Richard. I particularly like the clips showing how you worked your bait and watching you pull in that lunker on 2 lb test. Some great fish fighting tips in this and a technique I'd never thought of. I also enjoyed the conversation with the lady in the truck! That must have felt good holding a fish that nice. :-)

I had been trying to decide what to buy with a gift card I received for Christmas and after watching that video I ordered a Sam's super sensitive 9 foot jigging pole and received it today. Richard..I grew up in fort payne and use to go down to the old 2 way bridge to scottsboro to catfish. I dont think the old bridge is there anymore( ran off to the navy in 98) anyways I'm tormented to this day from the time we spent all day trying to catch a bass and when daddy got one I knocked it off with the net...I'll never forget his face lol. Thanks for bringing back old memories.
I used this technique last summer for bluegill and caught a nice smallmouth. I learnt the technique for you Mr. Gene and have caught several fish using it. Mr. Gene you are hands down the best fisherman period and learned so much from you. Thanks, from your fellow North Alabama fisherman

@@75seventhson Like my kids... There's a mexican soda which is just carbonated apple juice called 'manzana del sol' and my kids love it, we usually snag some on the way to the lake. Being gringitos, they call it "man-zann-ass" with a strong emphasis on "ASS" because they think they're getting away with profanity. Kids are the best.
