Hi Mike. Great video. I don't have a boat so I bank fish. But my situation is a little different. Well a lot different I guess. I have physical issues and I can only stand for a short time and walk just a short distance. I use a power chair. So in most places, I can not "walk the bank". At a lot of lakes, there are just a few spots I can fish. And I take way too much with me. Well, I take all my tackle. But I don't have the tackle a lot of folks have due to finances. But I have enough. I have put a strap on my tackle box where I keep all my hard baits. and my power chair has a headrest on it. I hook the strap to it so I don't have to carry it. I have a smaller bag in that I keep all my soft plastics, hooks, and weights. Along with a scale, tape measure, scents, etc... I keep trying to downsize my soft plastics but fail every time. I will also strap the handle around my headrest so I don't have to carry it. So my one free hand, the other has to drive the chair, can handle the rods. Sometimes I carry up to 5 rods with me. But try to keep it down to 2-4. But the way I carry my stuff on my chair, it is not hard to have 4-5 rods. It just stinks being so limited on where I can fish. As a side note. I grew up in NJ. So I feel a connection to you. Sounds silly I know. I grew up in the town of Denville, in a private community called Cedar Lake. I moved to PA when I graduated high school. But once in a while I will go back and stay with my sister that is still in NJ and we will go fish the lake we grew up fishing. It is private but we still know some people that live there and they have told us we can fish there all we want. There are some big bass in that lake. I guess it helps because it is private it does not get a lot of pressure. Sorry for my long comment. I actually tried to keep it short. LOL God bless.

Sounds like you have a land yak carrying all those rods, lol. Good for you man. Nice to hear you’re getting out on the water despite some limitations. Trust me, i think all us bank fishermen have trouble finding places to go…that aren’t over pressured, anyway. That private pond you have access to may be you ticket to a new PB. Good luck. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Hey brother, I have a similar issue. I can't walk the bank like I used to when I was younger. I also can't stand for a long period of time without pain. Thank God I can walk enough to get to some decent spots. I use a rod runner and carry 4 rods. I have a 7 gallon bucket with a tool apron insert with all my tackle inside and out. It also has a lid with foam padding. I removed the handle and replaced it with a strap for carrying it over my shoulder. I walk to my spot and then sit on the bucket. The key I have found works well for me is I try and find "freeways" as I call them. These are routes that bass travel from the depths or their (sanctuary) to feeding areas. On my home lake there are several rocky points that lead from deep to shallow water. I usually have decent success just posting up on one. Fish move in and out all the time. I helps me because I don't have to walk to too many places which would cause me a lot of pain. Not sure what your lake is like, but try to find some decent spots that you have had success at and just soak your bait. Good luck and God bless.

Man, you hit a grand slam with this video! bank fishing is much more challenging than boat or kayak fishing. No electronics; no freedonm to go whjertever you want to fish those blowdowns, points, etc. Much of the shoreline is PRIVATE;so we are limited to "over-fished sections that we CAN access. We have to deal with ticks, snakes, spiders and other creepy crawlwers. So, some advice on how to eal with these annoyances would be FANATASTIC! Southern Jerse is mostly tea colored, weed filled lajes and ponds; advice on how to fish this type of water would also be of great help. Keelp these types of videos coming; I LOVE THEM! Oh yeah, I'm a 77 year old guy who has fished every type of water "Jersey" has to offer and these lakes and ponds in south Jersey are quite a challenge. Tight lines my friend!

Lol. Brother all I had was bank fishing. I come from Chi and we have forest preserves with ponds and lakes. In my days back when I also worked for the county doing maintenance for them. Ok I was the outhouse keeper. But I tell you this. I had my work so cut out that, not only was the public gonna squat in a clean crapper but, the freshest sented ones too. I had a 4x4 truck with a hose and water tank so....work starting at 0800 I have my work load done by 1100. I'd trade in trucks for the off roader 4x4 f150 and worked every creek, river, lake, and pond we had. I even made no man's spots to come back too. On my own time I had to be light weight and carried 3 rigs on 2 piece poles. I used a camp chair bag to secure them. A small tackle bag, mostly for bass, some cat. Compact cooler, food, etc. Machette....lol yeah. Good old days. It's been a long time.

Great video. So many channels show the 5 rods you need or top 5 baits you need. Which is great for a boat but as a bank angler 2/3 rods and backpack is it. … after picking fishing up and now 2 yrs later, I’ve come up with a similar approach from the bank. I carry a back pack that fits 2 3500 boxes, 1 small terminal box, 5/6 bags of plastics, and 1 small 8x6 dry ziplock bag. 3500 boxes carry my treble baits. jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and frogs go in the dry ziplock bag. I carry plastics in 3 colors, white w/ purple hues, green pumpkin w/ whatever color fleck, and then combo color black / blue top with green pumpkin bottom. …. I also buy boss jigs and carry a couple different skirt options so I can change colors on the fly. … such a great video.

I fished a lot of tournaments as a co-angler and I carried just about everything you did as you do on your bank fishing. because I am limited to the space in the back of the boat. Although my bag was not as big as your bag I still carry an acceptable amount of tackle. However, to carry a bag like that on your back while Bank fishing it’s going to be tough on an old man. One problem that you did Solve for me as a Bank fisherman is the type of rods, and how many rods to carry while Bank fishing. Thank You.

I agree a good bag is key for bank fishing. The cheapest option will just let you down at the worst time. My rod strategy is a finesse spinning, a heavy fast baitcaster for heavy cover and deep water, and the workhorse medium heavy 7ft baitcaster that does everything and can be cast almost anywhere. Decent reels all around. Abus and Shimanos Great video!

Wow, great video, the box organization was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I fish in the Twin Cities Metro and a good chunk of the lakes I fish have paved trails partially around them. I ride a longboard to cover huge amounts of shoreline and have a backpack setup similar to yours. I usually keep shorter (6'6 ML fast) spinning rods as I often fish in dense cover, of course braid main line (15 lb) with a fluoro leader. Having a reel with a higher gear ratio is also helpful to really pull the fish out of the muck.

Even bought a hammock on sale I keep on it with a small lantern in case I wanna post up and take a nap somewhere and there’s some cord I attached a small hatchet to if I wanna get through some thick stuff or make a campfire .Good tip is to keep just what’s in season or the species you’re fishing for and leave the rest at home and swap out.

When I first started fishing I used 6:4:1 reels. Loved them. Still do. But i watch fishing videos like most of us, and I thought higher gear ratios were the thing. But I honestly don't like higher gear reels. Unless I'm top water fishing. The power of a 6:4 reel is just better for me. And I can reel it faster if needed. The lower gear ratio makes the reel feel smoother. And you don't get the hand and arm fatigue like you do with higher gear reels.

A few samples of plastics in a ziplock. Just need to separate my elaztechs from the rest. Even then I noticed I only throw 2 or 3 lures at most each trip. That bag may have every possible scenario but it gets heavy on you quickly. Yeah and I also carry two rods, one casting and one spinning. But recently been experimenting carrying one rod. I now go bank fishing with 2 or 3 rods and just take tackle that I can fit in my pockets (obviously no treble hooks, lol). If I want to fish trebles, I have them pre-rigged on the rod but then I have no spare with me. I keep hooks and weights in the pouches they come in and carry in my top pocket and spare plastics in my pants pockets. Can use a fanny pack if you want to carry trebles or other lures you don't want in your pockets. I don't use one tho, because I'm mostly a plastics guy.

@@kerrypitt9789 in response to the cynical question/remark you left for me in the chat, the more you carry the more you have to be responsible for. it is distracting and eats up a lot of your attention and time, and definitely your energy. The more stuff you carry, the less ground/water you can cover. Furthermore, many productive spots are also difficult to access even on foot due to the vegetation surrounding them or simply being difficult terrain to walk over. Most of the time it's simply because the only productive areas within reach barely have any access points because it's mostly walled off by thick brush. It is hard enough to carry one rod through such conditions, carrying two rods through the bramble can be nearly impossible. Add a backpack to that scenario, you're likely to never make it through to the water because the pack will keep getting snagged or prevent you from slipping through an opening sideways. BUT, MOST OF ALL, ALONG THE BANK, MOST AREAS ARE VOID OF WORTHY BASS and most are isolated and spread far and few in between meaning.... if you can't find them, you'll never know what they're biting on.

  • @secretbassrigs
    @secretbassrigs Год назад +3

Only an idiot runs all the way back to the truck after they find the fish. If you can't make what you have on you to work for you, you didn't cover the basics. Or you just don't have the skills and knowledge you think you do. The more you carry the less ground/water you can cover. Most banks accessible from designated parking areas are heavily pressured, and the most productive areas for fishing from the bank are usually the farthest, harder to access areas from a designated parking area. You have to find the fish first to really know what they really want. Often times the big bass are isolated and scattered, far and few in between. Covering water means covering ground. (this is In response to someone in the chat that proves they carry too much, and work too hard to achieve very little)

I've had enough! Of all the bullshit. I've decided to go fishing. Y'all can come if you want to. It's up to you. So, I'm getting my gear ready. Everybody doesn't like fishing they would much rather fight. But I'm going fishing, so fight with yourselves.
So, first of all, I gotta gear my gear ready. I got my favorite straw cowgirl hat on. My cut off shorts with my flannel shirt and my cowgirl boots on. I gotta stop by the fish store and grab my fishing license. While I'm there I'm gonna get two new rods, a tackle box, some tackle box stuff. I gotta gas my pickup truck up and throw everything in the back. I got my cooler filled with ice. And cold beer and water and a couple of sodie pops. I packed a lunch. In my favorite picnic basket. I got sandwiches, cookies, chips, fruit, cheese, crackers, a nice roll of salami. My favorite knife, a scale, a wood burner and some canned flame. Cause I'm gonna catch my fish, scale, gut it and cook it myself. I got some cornmeal, grease, my plate , my fork in my bookbag with a cup. And some paper towels. I'm gonna fish off the bank cause I don't got no boat. I brought a blanket cause I'm gonna have a picnic too. I got some matches a flashlight and all the gear. I got some rope, just in case I stepped in some quicksand. You never know where quicksand is. Anyways, I got my portable charger, so I can listen to music on RUclips. I got my shades on. I'm all set. Im looking to catch my favorite fish today. Croppies. But I'll take a walleye, bluegill, or buffalo too. Buffalo is meaty. If I catch a catfish, I'll keep them too.
This is a nice quiet peaceful fish trip. So don't mess it up for me. You can come but be quiet cause you'll scare the fish away. So get yourself settled and throw your rods in the water and good luck. It's eighty degrees and it's a beautiful day. So, don't mess it up. With all your shannangans.
    Just sit there and fish.
Nice, huh!? I know. I'm gonna make a nice bon fire later over there. In the safe area. Ones have already been burned there, already. So, just relax and keep it down..

I don't have a car so everything I need for the ENTIRE day has to fit in my 30L pack. I stick to seasonal hardbaits in a small Plano box and 2) 3600 boxes for tackle and swimbaits, 1 large 6th Sense clear bag for plastics. 3-4 rods.

That's a ridiculous amount of tackle for a day on the bank. A whole box of frogs? A box of chatterbaits? A few of each is enough. Why carry all that weight? I sometimes bank fish with an Altoids tin for a tackle box. Cool pack but way too big in my opinion.
