  • This custom 1980 Honda CM400 Scrambler was built in your standard garage using a pretty minimal tool set for under $1,500! Hopefully I will find the time to upload each part of the process. A time lapse is close to complete.

I love this build so much and using it as an inspiration for my long term 450A Brat look….. can I buy a set of those 3 inch tall custom handle bars…. They look great! Is your Jc custom website the best way to contact offline? Thanks so much!

Thanks so much! I am not sure I have parts to make another set, unfortunately. I would have to look. Basically, I just cut up a couple other sets I had lying around. And yeah, my website is probably the best way as it should go straight to my email.

I can confirm the Bridgestone Battlax tires work on the CM400a's rims, because I just got them and have them mounted now. These are sick! Really knobby! AX41 Rear adventurecross (120/90-16) and Front 100/90-18 I bought as a set off of Amazon : Approx. $252 plus tax

I would love a link to the exact tires you bought have a hard time finding them.

Here you go! The fronts have some options, but these are the only off-road tires I could find that fit the rear 16" wheel.

Very nice! I have the same model and its under going the same conversion. And yes, that rear tire selection is very limited for a scrambler.
I like the look of your project. Will there be some ride video posted?

Thank you! Hopefully at some point there will be a ride video, but probably not for a while until I can take it somewhere worth while.

Can I ask what you had to do to the carb for the exhaust to run so smooth?

Well it actually runs better now than it did in this video due to some changes I had to make to the carb I was using. Basically just make sure your carbs are super clean, all the check valves are free of cracks and such, sync them up, and set your mixture screws. Syncing needs to be done at 1200 RPM +- 100 I believe. If you go higher then the high RPM valve will open and screw up your settings.
