Yes everything looks identical. just think the wheels are different and I may have slightly longer stem in the forks. I got a 19 inch front and 16 rear.
Hi I have a cb400a with the same ugly frame and I love love love what uv done but I’ve never worked on a bike before, or welded, or cut up important bits of metal… u make this seem very simple. Is this doable for a complete beginner? U can see what my frame looks like on my channel if it takes ur fancy. Thanks for your help and what a great video
Is there anything you didn't like about this frame mod? I've got an '81 CM400T that i'm building into a cafe racer and I'm loving a lot of the work you did. Just trying to decide if I really want to go this route before I chop the frame and buy a welder. Before that concerns anyone, I've welded many times in the past, just in shops. Just don't wanna tailer my bike to bring it in to work and have it kicking around there.
Totally dig the frame mod. Would do it again, and probably will. Next time would explore a mono shock though. Great way to give these bikes a new life. Cheers.
Loving the videos, I have a very similar bike and want to mod the frame. By moving the top section how do you get around the engine mounting, this must affect the fixing holes. Did you re-drill them?
Thanks! The threads for the upper engine mount are still in the same spot... I had to cut the second holes off the 'removed piece' as to re-expose the second bolt thread. I then reused that cut off piece as a shim so the engine mounts were aligned.... Hope that makes sense!!!?!
Hey, thanks for watching! The seat is from ebay.. www.ebay.ca/itm/Motorcycle-Cafe-Racer-Seat-Flat-Brat-HumpSaddle-For-Honda-Suzuki-Kawasaki-Yamaha-/232598714867?var=&hash=item3627f6b9f3 Tubing I picked up from my local metal supplier.. I brought an off cut from the frame and matched the size...the hoop was another ebay order... watch part 4 to see the quality of that one...not impressed :(
Spoken Wright super comfortable to ride. The higher tank was hitting the triple clamp, that was something I was going to deal with until recent events...
Can someone tell me how he got those 8 inch pieces onto the frame after he cut them? Did he just tack weld them on? The video skips that part and I'm following this video to a T modifying my bike for a new seat lol
Here I was worried about building my frame up … you made this a lot easier for me to comprehend
super excited to follow this series, I just got into bikes myself, and I'm actually starting my first build on a honda cm450 '82,
Awesome work buddy! Can't wait to see it progress!
I have an 82 450 nighthawk and this is the inspiration I needed for the frame! awesome job
Thanks! I believe it's the exact frame as mine so you shouldn't have any issues. Really changes the look though! Cheers

Like your style mate rock on
Still a bit a indecision after the initial intrusions into the rear section, but without the hoop in place there's bound to be some uncertainty still.

I like. 👍
What kinda pipe did you use? I plan on doing this to my cb400t. Awesome video man!

Grasping for straws here but I'm trying to cut the welds on the piece closest to the tank but can't seem to get it loose. Any advice?
Are you using a MIG for the framework??
hey i have the same bike and i was just wondering where did you get the seat and the tubing for the frame

Sooo...did any of this effect the way the bike handled

Small section of tube that fits the inside diameter. You can see it in the next video, Pt. 4
Evan R thank you sir.
@@ArlowFarrell any time! Working on a CM400A right now, going for a similar look
