We’re a bit spoiled now with most of these beautiful games. FF7r is full blown fan service done right if you grew up with the original 1997 game. I got so excited I actually got teared up when the music swell hit in the intro. And R&C Rift Apart is hands down my GOTY for 2021. Best looking game I think ever! Ff7 remake was a disaster, completely missed an opportunity to do something meaningful and instead we got a big turd of a game with no exploration of ff7 universe. Game is a 5.5/10 at best. Unforgiveable how they ripped the heart out of the game

30 of the most popular games that everyone already knows are worth playing... Thanks for showing us a video of B roll you used in the review of all these games. Not to mention some of these are not single player only games. Who puts monster hunter world on here as a single player game when more than 50% of the game requires you to play online. Not to mention that means you are always playing on the easiest difficulty alone.
My only critique for Hades and most rouguelikes is that I wish there was more than just a handful of bosses. I love the game a lot. I’ve played the heck out of it. But I just wish there were more bosses to mix things up a bit.
I feel like a game could never get better than Bloodborne or Disco Elysium. Two very different games but both perfect in every single way. Witcher 3 and The last of us aren’t far behind
There are still soooo many other games out there; a few more for example: Jedi Knight Fallen Order, Metro Exodus, DooM Eternal and one of my favorites YS8 Lacrimosa of Dana.
There are only about five multiplayer games I've ever put more than 10 hours into. Overwatch, Halo, Playstation All-Stars, Smash Bros, and maybe one or two others. I don't dislike multiplayer but I have no need for more than one at a time. Those games I just listed got most of their play-time through dead periods with no game releases where I would return to them. If you're over like 20 you don't really even have time for multiple multiplayer games. At least with single player games are more digestible. I'm glad the industry is coming around on single player games. They seemed to have it in their head that everything had to be multiplayer or have a multiplayer component in the PS3/Xbox 360 era
Here is my favorite list of single player games this generation: Final Fantasy XV Tales of Berseria Tales of Arise Odin Sphere Leifthrasir Ys IX Monstrum Nox Nier Automata Darksiders Genesis Darksiders III Control Hades Batman Arkham Knight Persona 5 Strikers
I love multiplayer games. I love story mode games. But I have mainly focused on multiplayer. But now I’m in a situation where my internet is no longer elite and competing online isn’t the same with lag spikes and disconnecting frequently. But for now. The time being. I can go back to the roots of story mode gaming. I’m excited for this chapter in my life. Does anyone have any recommendations for awesome story mode games? I loved Skyrim 5 years ago. I loved red dead redemption. And I loved assassins creed black flag. Do you guys know any games like that or new ones to check out?
Control truely deserves to be higher up that list than a lot of those games. The lore is so deep and mind blowing, the visuals are striking, the game play with all the different powers is cool as fuck, its quite challenging and is a launch point for the wider control universe tying in other Remedy games like Alan Wake & Quantum Break to it. The subject matter you deal with in Control is litterally cosmic in scope.
God of War is amazing. I'm not sure any game beats it when it comes to combining excellent presentation, story and engaging gameplay/game mechanics. I like other aspects maybe slightly more in individual categories, but as a total package I think God of War is the mark that developers should be aiming for. It's an excellent game from top to bottom. The way they designed it with essentially no loading screens at all was amazing. It's just so well executed and makes it really easy to sink hours into it. Open world games are great but I've gotten really tired of every game needing to be a giant open world. Sometimes a game with a smaller scope works better and God of War is a perfect example of that. There is always something entertaining happening and it's an easy game to come back to if you have to shelf it for a week or two due to being an adult. Wish more games considered this.
I think god of war 3 is better. With the loading screens and a cutting camera the game delivers soooo much more spectacle. The opening of god of war 3 is way crazier than anything in ragnarok. The story, characters and writing are better but they can be better with loading screens and cuts
I know it's me, but this list did not resonate much at all (except CONTROL). The Ascent, Prey (2017), Doom (2016), Wasteland 3, Outer Wilds, and The Outer Worlds were not considered over any of the entries? And while they may not have been considered that great by the masses, I feel the need to bring up Greedfall and Titanfall 2, real gems of campaigns some are missing out on. I can see loverlooking some if this were restricted to a top ten, but this list really missed the mark.
I’m still playing Nioh 2 and loving NG+ and the DLC, this game is just so good, I have a feeling Team Ninja can hit a game of the year if their next game has the same combat mechanics and great story with better graphics and something new to attract more players
@@marcothephoenix1278 honestly it’s like a beefed up version of Nioh 1, but the burst counters and yokai shifts you can do instead of using your guardian spirit or while you’re using your guardian spirit make the combat system great. plus you have a lot of options to turn off like the excessive loot, or you can check it all and dump it quickly in the blacksmith. Also the extra weapons like the splitstaff and switchglave, plus the new combat tree, it’s just better in all aspects.

Its defenitely one of my favorites too! It deserved so much more attention and credit, so many people have not played it yet!
really best game ever do you know any more similar games like this
I played it. It was definitely a super unique and cool game. I won’t call it my favorite because halfway through I started to lose some interest. I think the gameplay started to get repetitive for me. But either way even though it wasn’t necessarily for me, I recognize how special of a game it is, and I could see why some would consider it a master piece. I love single player, story driven games.(it’s all I play) and I love something with a unique and “weird” feel, so it’s strange I didn’t like it even more. Maybe I was just playing too many games that year. 🤷♂️
Control is epic!
I wasn't a fan, I guess it's not for everyone.
Man you missed a bunch, Fallout 3, Fallout new Vegas, fallout 4, Skyrim, GTA 5, red dead redemption, Dishonored 1 and 2, Kingdom Come just off the top of my head
for me i have to put dishonored 1 or 2 on this list some of the most fun games I have played with an art style that blows me away every time
I’m surprised NieR Automata didn’t make the cut!
An absolute masterpiece.
Shocking game is good.
Monster hunter world did though, as a ‘best single player game’ lol..........,
simply not good enough
Here's a bunch more games worth playing - The Last Of Us Remastered, Tomb Raider definitive edition, Infamous Second Son, Shadow of Mordor GOTY edition, Mad Max, Watch Dogs 2, Mafia 3, Rise of The Tomb Raider, Shadow of War definitive edition, AC Origins, Uncharted Lost Legacy, A Plague Tale Innocence, AC Odyssey, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Days Gone, and Mafia definitive edition. I really like all the Batman Arkham games but I also love Jedi Fallen Order, and I really hoped these would be on there
Borderlands 2 is for me still the greatest single player game ever..
Yes it can be played in co-op as well..
But I can count on one hand how many times I've played it with others..
And with over 2000 hours racked up on it and still going...
This game for me is gonna take some beating.
Terramorphous the Invincible says hello
In solo it can be tough beating the raid bosses at UVHM mode, you’ll have to switch between a slag weapon and your primary gun repeatedly, which is a bit of a drag itself.

If I had to make a list, Resident Evil 2 remake will occupy that number 1 spot. It is just perfection.
Amen to that!
The fact the Shadow of the Colossus PS4 remake is not on this list angers me deeply. One of the very best single player games ever made!!!

I have shadow of colossus on my PS4 in labrary. But for me I didn't like it so I just uninstalled it.

Uncharted 4
Divinity Original Sin 2

@@scented_meat I have. I wasn't as big of a fan as everyone else.
If you have a PS5 you owe it to yourself to pick that game up!
yeah I loved final fantasy 7 remake it was absolutely great. I play the original back in 1997 I was like 12 or 13 yrs old at that time I thought that was the best graphics I ever seen not the characters but like the background.
If you happen to have a nintendo switch try metroid dread, I think it beat Rachet and clank drift apart for me. Dont get me wrong they’re both amazing, but need to give metroid a shout out for game of the year 2021.
Ff7 r is spit in the face to fans of original. Dunno where ppl like you are getting such demented opinions.
Demons souls clears ratchet and clank visually. Best looking game I’ve ever played
Ff7 remake was a disaster, completely missed an opportunity to do something meaningful and instead we got a big turd of a game with no exploration of ff7 universe. Game is a 5.5/10 at best. Unforgiveable how they ripped the heart out of the game
I played almost all of them, accept Metal Gear Solid 5, Sentinals: Aagis Rim and Half Life Alyx. But where is Hollow Knight and Nier Automata?
Yeah and they included that piece of crap Animal Crossing.
MGSV was so fun
resident evil 2 remake is one of my favorite games, ever. don't know if i've ever had a better gaming experience.

Outward for co-op.
Code Vein, Battle Chasers Nightwar, Atelier Ryza 1 & 2, Mortal Kombat 11, Remnant from the Ashes...This list is more like best sellers & ignored anything you had to dig deeper than looking at a sales chart. (Although I realize MK 11 would be a best seller, don't know how they missed that game, that makes zero sense.)
There’s only one thing wrong with this list if you ask me and that is gears of War five. One reason multiplayer. This list is about single player games personally I would rather have RETURNAL on this list instead because it is a far better game and it will put your skills to the ultimate test.
Campaign is Gears5 is as good as any other single player game. And you can play it co-op.
Mr. X wasn't technically a new mechanic, since he was in scenario B of the original. Though obviously, his implementation has vastly evolved.
No Sleeping Dogs? Mad Max? Days Gone? How about the Saints Row Series or Yakuza, Witcher?

30 of the most popular games that everyone already knows are worth playing... Thanks for showing us a video of B roll you used in the review of all these games. Not to mention some of these are not single player only games. Who puts monster hunter world on here as a single player game when more than 50% of the game requires you to play online. Not to mention that means you are always playing on the easiest difficulty alone.
My God, a Bloodborne PS5 remaster would be epic!!!
My only critique for Hades and most rouguelikes is that I wish there was more than just a handful of bosses. I love the game a lot. I’ve played the heck out of it. But I just wish there were more bosses to mix things up a bit.

Agree with bloodborne
Dont know how Doom Eternal, DMC 5 and Nier Automata missed the cut. But good list.
There are still soooo many other games out there; a few more for example: Jedi Knight Fallen Order, Metro Exodus, DooM Eternal and one of my favorites YS8 Lacrimosa of Dana.
Neither one of the Doom titles?
Nier: Automata
Hollow Knight
Divinity Original Sin 2
Atleast you started with Disco.
I agree with some games, but my list is very different.
Metro Exodus?
Great list.
✔God of War, without doubt was the best game in the list!

so nier automata doesnt make the list??? thats the best game that ive played in my entire life
I love multiplayer games.
Witcher 3
Assasins creed Odyssey, farcry 2,3,4,5.
Holy jabroni, what a great list.
Hades, Bloodborne, RE2, God of War, Uncharted: Absolute killers 🗡
Celeste and Hollow Knight should be on here. I also quite enjoyed Octopath Traveler and Dragon Quest 11.
Guys it's the end of 2021.. Please put video chapters ffs!
Metro Exodus should be included too
SEKIRO fan here🥺🥺🖐️🖐️
I’m still playing Nioh 2 and loving NG+ and the DLC, this game is just so good, I have a feeling Team Ninja can hit a game of the year if their next game has the same combat mechanics and great story with better graphics and something new to attract more players
how much better is it compared to nioh 1? cuz i didnt enjoy that one so much idk why it just felt meh. nioh 2 looks so fun tho
People always forget Batman Arkham Knight
"Sekiro" and "Days Gone"
Wow Sony is killing it
I don't know, no Mario Odyssey, no Hollow Knight, no Nier Automata, no Three Houses, I mean they are better than Judgement no ? and Yakuza 0 ?
