You guys dont know how amazing it feels to hear Mark and Myles both agree that still, nothing has topped Blackbird, not even Cry of Achilles or Fortress. Blackbird has been my all time AB song since the first time I heard it. :-) Something about it strikes your emotions unlike any other AB song.
I agree, Blackbird is still their best song but I think Fortress is their best album today.

I'm coming back to this video three years later (riding The Last Hero hype train!), and it's really great to see an interviewer that has done his research about the band and has obviously actually paid attention to the different aspects of the album as well.

I love how easy going and humorous they can be, probably the strongest bond I've ever seen between members of a band!
freaking love seeing myles happy, hes not cheerful in a lot of his interviews but this one makes me feel good inside

***** Yeah well I think that's probably the thing. If you notice 90% of interviewers have been asking him the same questions for years: "What's it like to work with Slash?" "What was it like to jam with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones?" As gracious and humble as Myles is, he's now at the point where he is an extremely accomplished artist himself, so it helps to have an interviewer is prepared to acknowledge to success and talent of his own band instead of always being fascinated with extracurricular activities.
That, and I also imagine he is constantly fatigued between Alter Bridge, Slash, and gradually working on his solo record. He is also always very conscious of taking care of his voice, and I've heard him say many times that he tried to talk as little as possible when it's not 100% necessary to preserve it for live performances.

i get what you mean. can't wait for that solo record come to think of it, but yea he probably likes it when the interviewer is more excited about his own achievements. but to be honest i see a lot of interviewers like that interviewing him

I want them to do like a dvd of each album played live all the way through. They have so many good songs that they don't do live that ive always wanted to see and theres not enough time in an actual concert.
Fave band and has been for awhile. Have seen them live twice. Amazing. If you get a chance to see them don't miss the show!

Yeah, met Mark and Myles the 19th August and got a chance to listen to the album..was truly amazing, really down to earth and kind guys. If you haven't, pre-order the album and support there, it's gonna' blow you away!

"Brand New Start" is my favorite song of all time! "Waters Rising" has become my second favorite Alter Bridge song, though. :D

I'm gonna comment on something irrelevant to the album. I love the fact that Mark is wearing a Like A Storm hoodie. A man in two legendary bands is wearing a hoodie of a band that isn't all that big. Mark is such a cool guy.

I think he was referring to the "This is not the end" riff. It feels a little like a ODR riff to me and the riff your referring to is also referred to by Mark as the off time bit.

I actually don't think he was referring to that part, as Mark refers to that at the 1:12 mark as having been written on the spot. Just listening to the track now, and I think Cael's answer is the right one.

Calm The Fire, Cry of Achilles & Waters Rising are my favourites. But not even close to Brand New Start or Blackbird ;)
When they were talking about Cry of Achilles, Myles at 00:57 mentions a part from the "bridge thing" that had been around since the One Day Remains sessions but then later Mark says that the bridge came up on the spot. Does anyone know which part of the song Myles is talking about because I can't seem to find a part that fits the description he gave :/
