Nik was my favorite and I'm still so sad she didn't win! I feel like Nicole won because she fit into that trend of 'baby face' models during the mid 2000s (Gemma Ward, Lily Cole, Lisa Cant, etc.). They probably expected her to go far because her look was so on trend at the time.

And she gotten that dreaded "no personality" edit.
And funny Nicole escaped the whiner edit, eventhough she complained about everything (ramen, chapstick, pigeons, that dirt challenge...).

She was the ONLY example of the non-binary and gender fluid for that I ever had in real-time growing up.
Aside from Sylvester and Grace Jones as Icons I had to look up to, Miss J was THE IDOL I had as a separation from Gender before I even had the language to articulate it.

I mean come to think of it, aside from the first iteration of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (groundbreaking but not very diverse), these guys were the only reality tv personalities who were black and gay that I remember were quite visible at that time (I know about Rupaul but I dont. Think Drag Race was a thing back then). So I guess they were icons in terms of representation.

This needs to be turned into a podcast ASAP! With a similar set up to race chaser pod...they can dissect episodes and really have time to delve into stories. They can call in past girls with specific questions and or interview winners
I am living for this . So much nostalgia. I remember watching this show as a preteen and pretending to be a model during the opening credit song 😂 . With all the controversy around ANTM at the moment I loved the show. The early 2000s were a different time in many respects and obviously a lot of things that were said/ done would now be slammed on Twitter etc but that’s the point . There was no social media really and that whole era of reality tv is so different to how it is now .
Completely agree. I'm glad people are able to discuss the show more openly now and bring up faults but it really was a different time. These chats make me feel so nostalgic too lol. I believe I was around 10 when cycle 1 aired so it really shaped a lot of my early years.
I hated Lisa, but Lisa should not have gone home when she did, she had the best photo that week by far.
I agree that she did have the best photo that week but I didn’t care that she got eliminated because in my opinion she should’ve gone home the week they did the wild boys shoot. She peed herself in a diaper. Completely unprofessional & I wouldn’t want someone there competing still & possibly winning after representing ANTM like that. I don’t think Tyra would’ve kept her that week if she knew about it.

I remember being shocked that Nicole kept making it each week because she was always so lackluster and lukewarm. I felt like the top 2 should have been Lisa and Nik they truly were the strongest most consistent models in the competition.

Nicole was working though. Not like big fashion brands that I’m aware of, but she was working. I haven’t heard anything of Nik though. Hope all is good for her.

Didn’t address why Lisa was eliminated over Jayla just because the judges had an issue with her personality. She took some strong photos in that season and I thought she would have been in the Top 3.
I remember it irked me at how far jayla made it. I loved her look but I felt she under performed ALOT & her shoots fell flat
TRUE, this would’ve been a great topic to address, because that elimination made NO sense to me at the time. But since then I’ve just chocked it up to Nigel and Twiggy constantly being annoyed by Lisa and their being over her at that point, lol.

All of a sudden out of nowhere these two, during a controversial and dangerous/serious timeframe in life. People need to wake up. Judgement is coming for those who participated in chaos,confusion,deception and essentially the destruction of contestants and viewers dreams. Their actions have created
(“cause & effect”) in viewers mind that is associated with misleading information. Everything associated with the ANTM brand is vulgar,grotesque, racist and fucked up beyond belief.
I remember how bad I felt for her as they just butchered her hair off then bleached it. It seemed like they didn't like her from the start.

I understand why almost everyone thinks Nik should have won, but I’ve always liked Nicole as a winner, and I get why she won: Nicole looks like a typical high fashion model. Cycles 3 and 4 have the unconventional beauty winners so maybe they wanted to crown the classic model beauty type of girl. Again, I’m not saying Nik is not deserving, it’s just Nicole’s look (at the time) is more top model material.
And let’s not forget that Nicole had an actual career.

I know this is old, but for everyone to know, esp Mister Jay: the "where you look means you're lying" body language reading is actually not true, it's bunk science. There's no proof that certain directions correlate to much, especially whether you're lying. Actually when people look up and off while talking, it means they are truly recalling or remembering or trying to remember. It can be any direction.

Tyra did say in the cycle 5 reunion that the reason Nicole won was because they wanted the winner to be a high fashion model. Gilles Bensimon liked her so much that he flew her to Paris to shoot her in couture for Elle magazine.

Fact: Where people got the "idea" that Covergirl was picking the models actually came from Janice Dickinson! She said it in an interview. She said she found out that Covergirl was pre-selecting the girl they wanted and so the judging was basically just eliminating all the other girls until they eventually "crowned" the winner.

unpopular opinion: I liked Nicole, and was happy when she won. That doesn't mean that I didn't also like Nik, though. Regardless, it doesn't matter how many people complain about who they think 'should have' won, this is over and done with. (edit to add: did anyone stop to think that maybe Nicole couldn't return due to work or personal reasons? Not everyone can drop everything and go film an episode of reality TV; unless it was in her contract, I don't see why it'd be so wild for her to not want to return.)

Lisa shouldve won she was the most consistent. Nik behind lisa. Nicole took great pics but in person looked terrible. Bre did amazing as well. Jayla was not strong enough to even be on the show. Lisa's drinking had nothing to do with her performance who cares. Kim was also not strong enough to make it as far as she did. Janice appeared many times next cycle which is interesting also on cycle 8 i believe. Ebonys makeover was sabotage.

They did bring Naima to open the cycle Five show but Nicole didn’t open cycle Six.
