Tony, I love all of your work. Your sleep compilations are probably literally a life-saver and I have worn them out! You can never make too many. Today I am enjoying another listen of Dracula.
I read this story for my ‘turn of the century’ literature class at Gustavus Adolphus… I was nervous about it because when I was fourteen I found a book about Dracula that scared the life out of me and I had trouble sleeping for over a week. But reading the actual story, surprise, surprise! I loved it! It was so finely written, well paced and detailed enough for me to picture it in my mind without being too much. Whatever the inspirations were for this story, Bram Stoker, you had a true gift!
Opium use, the hypnosis and supernatural craze, an invasion of eastern culture and paranoia about the behaviour of his wife were among some of his inspirations. Some of the Vampire ideas were also inspired by another book which itself was influenced by eastern european folk tales.
I love the way you start this story slowly and precisely. You initially come across as innocent, a bit nervous, but with a sense that everything can be explained and it will all be ok. Progressively, though, you start to become scared, your voice quivers, your breathing quickens, your mind seems to fall apart. By the end of these chapters, you really sound as though you are losing your mind, and maybe you are, but I must thank you, as this is my favorite novel of all time. I love the madness of this tale, it reminds me of my own life. Thank you so much for spending so much of your life reading this, it is the best narration of Dracula on RUclips and I am eternally grateful.
Harker's journey to, arrival at and imprisonment in Dracula's Castle *does chefs kiss*. Probably my favorite part of any book I've ever read. It goes from creepy and full of dread on the journey to absolute terror being locked in the castle with vampires
I thought I was the only one I burned through the first 70 or so pages and had to switch to the audio book after because I just found it not as interesting as the start of the book.
I'm only just starting this, and it's incredible. You keep a low, slow-burn going that pulls us through the story. Your accents are amazing. Your performance and this text are a perfect match. Thank you!
I have a problem... I'm addicted to Tony's voice and stories. It's like listening to a best friend telling you a fascinating story, and it's so soothing. I have ADHD and I need background noise, but this has become so much more. I've even bought the physical versions of some of my favorite stories, which are hard to do, because they're all good. Keep them coming Tony! ❤ I struggled with reading as a kid, but because of Tony I've developed such a passion for literature. Thank you Tony.

Magnificent! You are the finest narrator I have ever listened to. I am a fan of Dracula, I have seen every movie involving Dracula, his wives, descendants, dog, etc... "Bram Stoker's Dracula 1992" is my favourite version, I don't care if this is not a popular choice, it is mine. I remember being about 9 years old and seeing Christopher Lee in Dracula or In Search of Dracula? Wonderful narration of an absolute classic. I love falling asleep to this reading of one of my favourite books of all time. Thank you. It is a shame YT wouldn't allow you to run the whole audio book narration as a single video though. They do allow sleep and meditation videos to run 24+ hours at the time of my writing (April 2024) including some which are 96 and 120 hours of run time. (No pressure on you, merely information on that change).
All of these classic pieces of literature bring me back to the Literature of the Supernatural coyrse I took in college. I loved it! I enjoy listening to these ❤

I had read the book many years ago, but your reading was like hearing another book, as I had rushed through it so hurriedly that I missed the best parts. Your build of tension throughout was masterful.
@@ClassicGhost Is her name Cathleen? Because that would be an amazing coincidence. It is a funny gateway with him. I've recently looked it up and watched a German film for children. I'll admit it's a bit odd but funny and the wigs were definitely something else. Lol
Absolutely love this great gothic horror classic. Phenomenal narration. Personally I have always preferred the opening chapters of this novel as the tension that Stoker creates between the Count and Jonathan Harker is so atmospheric and scary. As we read we get the same feeling of Harker being trapped. After a while the Count plays a cat and mouse game with Harker which makes us feel so despondent for Harker. Big fan of Stokers and I would also recommend his short stories "Draculas Guest", "The Squaw" and "The Judges House". My favourite Vampire story after the masterpiece "Dracula" would be "Salems Lot" by Stephen King.

Sometimes genius is not immediately recognized but this narration is a fitting tribute to it.
As the great artist Vincent Van Gogh
It took a successful theatrical adaptation followed by the Lugosi film to really brake Dracula into the mainstream.
Unbelievable. How can a man write a masterpiece like this and the obituaries not even mention it.
Listen while cleaning school early in the morning on my own.. what a joy and how fast my time goes … excellent 🖤🖤🖤
Enjoy!
Very professionally done. You have the old classic voice from back in these days.
Absolute wonderful, entertaining and very captivating narration. Tony, you bring this story to life.
thank you stop doing this. No fighting Kelly Kelly stop it go go Ruby Ruby good girl good girl Ruby Kelly Kelly stop growling.
All of these classic pieces of literature bring me back to the Literature of the Supernatural coyrse I took in college. I loved it! I enjoy listening to these ❤

THANK YOU SM I NEEDED THIS FOR MY SUMMARY EXAM
Wow! Incredible voice and reading of this classic. Thank you!
Brilliantly read!! Very calming and enigmatic.
I had read the book many years ago, but your reading was like hearing another book, as I had rushed through it so hurriedly that I missed the best parts. Your build of tension throughout was masterful.
Very kind. I am mulling Frankenstein right now
Love your narration Tony - Beautiful voice
Oh , I love your Dracula voice.
i love doing it. i do it in shops
I first came across your channel with Struwwelpeter and I've been hooked since. Thank you.
My daughter is called Cat Walker :) Funny to think of Struwwelpeter as the gateway :)
@@ClassicGhost Is her name Cathleen? Because that would be an amazing coincidence.
It is a funny gateway with him. I've recently looked it up and watched a German film for children. I'll admit it's a bit odd but funny and the wigs were definitely something else. Lol
Thank you so very very much for this! I’m so very very thankful for you posting both of these videos!
I’ve been enjoying this narration so much! Thank you.
Wow, this is the best film adaptation of the book I've ever seen!
I'll take that as a compliment
@@ClassicGhost Please do! Or, take it as an insult to the other movies.
My favourite book ever.
Yep.
@@theshadow- meeeee too!😋
Absolutely love this great gothic horror classic.
Thank you. Me too about the first few chapters. I also agree about Salems lot
