I love that RUclips comments are like a time capsule, you often find yourself discovering something new and seeing someone’s thoughts on it from years ago… “Sublime” is the perfect adjective for this reading, I’m just getting started, almost through the first hour, it’s absolutely impeccable and it’s just getting started.

I must pause in my listening to write that your choice of accent for Dracula, along with this particular cadence and intonation, brings him fully to life. One does not even need a visual performance to perceive the ancient decadence, the malice, the barely bridled power. In your hands he is both delightful and menacing.
You've heard the expression "lifting the words off the page"? Well, Mr. Garnett does it! And when he does he then puts 'life' into them! He makes you want to go back and re-read the book. Great job by Mr. Garnett...!
I don’t usually leave comments on youtube videos but I felt obligated to genuinely thank you for this stunning audiobook. You are an enthralling reader - I caught myself crying at the end; your acting is so heartfelt and full of genuine emotion. This was my first time experiencing this novel and I’m already sure it’s a new favourite - your stunning reading and voice-acting will be in my heart whenever I inevitably reread it :)
Just listened to the first chapter, great reading ♥️♥️♥️ I read somewhere many years ago, that when Stoker was asked how the idea of "Dracula" had come to him, he said that he had bad crab salad in a restaurant in Whitby, and, as everyone knows, bad crab salad inevitably gives you nightmares.
I usually listen to audio books to send me to sleep. This full rendition of Bram Stokers, Dracula, has reminded me of the forgotten excitement, and anticipation of horror and passion, that once excited me when in my early teens. Thanks for taking me back.
had a sick day today off school and got through the entire book in one day thanks so much for your very engaging and articulate craftsmanship in portraying this book in the light it deserves
Wow, Steven. This was, of all the audio books I listened to, one of the best, rivaling great, great expensive works with many voice actors and big budgets. You alone delivered an atmosphere, emotion and tension like few others I heard before. Your voice acting is supreme, every character being unique and authentic, and the emotional weight of their parts believable and true. The audio quality is great, the brushing of the pages comforting and homely, as though we sat at a great big fireplace and you read to an audience of scared but excited children, however once you start, one can't help but lose all that and dive into the story. This is a proper great work, thank you for providing it, and free for all of all things!
I normally don't like to listen to audiobooks, but since dracula is my favorite book, i needed to try in audiobook format, and this is amazing! Love your voiceacting, it made it so fun, and an whole other experience, rather than just reading it in ones own silent company :-) Love this!
This is an excellent narration of this horror classic. The page shuffling adds validity to the story and makes the journal entries of each character spring to life. I have read Dracula before but was unable, in my mind, to make it live. This narrator does a superb job in making each character, whether man, monster or woman, believable. I know this won’t be my only hearing of this work so masterfully performed by Steven Garnett.
The Dracula performance was the best of many audiobooks I've listened to. It transported me to another dimension! You made the characters come to life so beautifully. Thank you!
So glad I stumbled upon this on your video! I tried reading Dracula in elementary school and found it way too boring for my young mind. Now that I'm an adult, I love reading, but my ADHD has caught up to me. I absol cannot focus on books like I used to. I also work jobs ans hardly have time to read, but now I can listen to you while I work!
Absolutely phenomenal performance, I love the accents, the emotion and desperation in Jonathan's voice. It's all wonderful. Looking forward to starting part 2 tomorrow!
Thank you so much for this reading of Stoker's masterpiece. I have read it several times over the last 50 years and always find something more in it. Your reading allows me to experience it in a new light. Again, thank you.
I am on strict bedrest, so this reading has been quite welcome. Your voice is wonderful, expressive but not overdone, and behind the resonance is a kind of deep purr.
Great stuff here! I really appreciate the subtlety of Dracula's accent. So many people use the overly cliché Transylvanian accent when voicing Dracula, whereas yours gives off a feeling of real person's voice. The way you narrate is also good- you don't read too fast or too slow.
I just discovered this after watching the Castlevania series. I have read the book before, but this rendition breathes new life into the undead Count. I can visit Transylvania anytime while cleaning the house thanks to you.
this is such a stunning reading!! thank you for keeping me company these past weeks as I worked through pilles of mindless paperwork. It was a delight to listen to your voice, friend Steven, thank you for this amazing audiobook.
I agree, this is superb. I also recommend Great Gatsby read by Jake Gyllenhall (not kidding, it’s great) and To Kill a Mockingbird - I forget who reads it, but a woman with perfect ‘Scout’ voice. Also Catcher in the Rye (I forget the reader but again it was great) These helped me through the pandemic lockdown in a big way.
Listening to you read I forget the book was written by someone from 200 years ago. You make this story yours and present it personally. Thank you for dedicating your time for us. I look forward to more of your readings.
Finding this, as a Texan, I have to say that the voice used for Quincy Morris makes my day. It is not accurate, but it is good for the character as he himself is a bit of a Englishman's idea of what a stereotypical Texan sounds like. I mean this with adoration and endearment, so please don't read this as criticism! It genuinely made the listening experience for me 10 times better lol.
I was helping my English teacher recommend this video so that my classmates could listen to it, and my dumbass almost commented on your nice voice first instead of the fact that the original book was actually being read. Good job, you managed to immerse me so well in the story that I forgot to actually talk about it XD
I have to study Dracula for my A Level English lit. this helped so much as being a slow reader this would have taken me an eternity to read. I listen to your video while following along with my text. thank you so much!!
i was having SO much trouble reading this and getting in the mood to read it, or understanding it. this is absolutely perfect. i can’t wait to read this and move on to part 2 and 3!! and i love how the chapters are easily split up, this is amazing!
This is amazing work - grateful to have found this channel. Whenever I read Dracula, in my mind, it's always shaped by the Coppola film (which I adore) - this gave me a new picture. Ace.
You give the characters so much life through the way you speak. And your voice for Van Helsing has become the voice I use whenever I bring up the character
Love your reading! Your voice is clear and soothing and I love hearing you turn the pages. As I lay in bed recovering from Covid-19, your reading has been a Godsend for me. I have been too weak to do much of anything except snuggle in bed and listen to your wonderful story telling. Thank you sir. God bless.
One of my favorite things is to read old books....there is something about worn leather bindings, the yellowing of the pages and texture of the paper itself....somehow, the more gauze-like the paper the easier to read....listening to pages being turned lends more authenticity to your reading somehow.... Now, back to this well read book....thanks...!!!
I know Steven reads all comments and he'll love yours! Stoker's great nephew Dacre Stoker an author himself loved Steven's audiobook and arranged to meet him in Whitby last year. There's a photo of them together on Steven's Community Page. Greetings from Mamma Fox in Yorkshire 😊

Absolutely Perfect, Shannon! We decided to go from cold to A/C time in two days, here.🤷♀️. I’m only putting it to 80, and it’s still kicking on! 😩. Boy, I’ve missed chatting with my foxy foxy book friends in just 1 1/2 days☹️.
Please be aware, as a young child (many decades ago) I have enjoyed reading and once into a book i seek every spare moment to continue reading it/them until conclusion - however their have been some books that I wish to read but find it impossible to get into - Dracula was one such book - I attempted to read it a number of times without getting past chapter four - now... time is difficult to find in this day and age - however your reading of this great book has made it achievable for me to finally get engrossed and enjoy this story - I can not thank you enough for all of your efforts in putting this post together - I now eagerly look forward to hearing you in part 2 - my honest thanks to you once again.
I am not an Audio Book Fan, I tolerated the sci fi ones that I had to listen to when moving long distance, and the Harry Potter Collection my Ex Brother Law listened to in my days off.. However, I came across your Secret Garden, and lol I pulled out my copy, :-) I’ve had since I was10.. I had a good conversation with my aunt who gifted me the book and bookmark from my great grandmother.. At any rate, I thank you and I’ve tried to read this book several times and hopefully with your help I will.. I apologise for the lengthy comment.. I truly actually enjoy your audio books.. Thank You.. :-) I think I like it because it’s the way you are reading, there is no rush in getting through the book..
Mr. Garnett thank you for replying so quickly. Well this explains everything. I had begun to listen to someone else’s reading of the book but have not found it as enjoyable, so I will wait for yours. Thanks again for your reply.
We saw The Last Voyager of the Demeter and had so many questions. We had read the novel many years before. I found your superb read and once started, couldn't stop listening. Thank you for many hours of perfection and imagination! Continued success in all you do ❤
You kept me company while I worked on a project all night long (10:30 -7:30) Your voices are fantastic and the small piano parts allow for me to digest the whole the story. Your pauses, rhythm, and everything is masterful! It’s calming and you truly become a fast favorite audio book channel!
Thank you so much for making this! I am reading Dracula for class and while I love the story, the actual reading is quite hard to get through. Your audiobook is making it very easy indeed.
Good Lord! I really thought this audiobooks was deleted for some reason permanently. I frantically spend several days googling this version. I even thought you have moved to audible. Good to have you back good sir!
I tried to read this to fall asleep, but was too engrossed so I was awake to 2AM. :) Dracula is one of my favorite books, I'm very much enjoying your reading thus far! ❤ Finally, an 'adaptation' of Dracula that's likely to do Van Hellsing justice.
I have listened to the whole story. You are such a wonderful reader! And how you work on the different voices, it seems natural and flawless. Excellent accents. I have enjoyed this immensely! You are a true story teller. Thank you 🙏🧡
I like how read this book to record this audio because it's easier for me to picture what's happening in the book than just reading it myself. also, I'm the kind of person to read with an audiobook, so I'm glad i found your channel
Okay, I did not expect you to actually go for the Texas accent. It wasn't even that bad. I am madly impressed by your accent work in this narration. 10/10.
Dude! This is so good! I've been meaning to get around to Dracula for a while but I never checked it out because I expected it to be a slog, but you've really brought it to life. One does not even need a visual performance to perceive the ancient decadence, the malice, the barely bridled power. In your hands he is both delightful and menacing.
Well said!
Masterful reading paired with an incredibly powerful voice and accent. Thank you.
had a sick day today off school and got through the entire book in one day thanks so much for your very engaging and articulate craftsmanship in portraying this book in the light it deserves
MASSIVE thanks for such high praise!
I came to say all the same things! Very well done!!
Thank you!
Makes me so glad knowing Dracula is in the public domain, and this treasure will never be taken down.
Your reading is intriguing ,varied and beautifully presented.
This audiobook is so good that when i read the book, i imagine his voice and pacing.

thank you!! I am also reading the physical copy but listen when I can't physically read.. helpful while driving and doing art projects.
Your voice for Dracula is genuinely so good, everytime you speak in his voice I have to pause whatever im doing just to listen to it in full!
Thank you, brilliantly read love your accent & also Dracula’s! You bring this wonderful writing alive
Thank you, really grateful! :)
Best audiobook I have ever heard. The atmosphere it's superb, and I fully love your interpretation on dracula's voice.
Great story teller. Such attention to detail.
Listening to you read I forget the book was written by someone from 200 years ago. You make this story yours and present it personally. Thank you for dedicating your time for us. I look forward to more of your readings.
Really great reading, top notch voice, pacing, sound. Excellent.
Your reading voice is beautiful. So appropriate for the story.
The voices, the music, the accents. It's clear to me how much care you put into these and the results are fantastic!
Excellent reading thank you. Best reading on RUclips.
Well said 👏
i was having SO much trouble reading this and getting in the mood to read it, or understanding it. this is absolutely perfect. i can’t wait to read this and move on to part 2 and 3!! and i love how the chapters are easily split up, this is amazing!
You read so well. I had an amazing experience through this audiobook. Thank you!
So nice to hear, thanks to you too!
God bless.
I myself struggle reading 5:39:25 yet I had to speed it up to 1.25x
Excellent and impressive narration. thanks so much. It was great!
Perfect voice for this. Just the right amount of gravity
Appreciate it, thank you!
Do not forget about the smell of old books!
This is a great reading of a creepy novel. Well done!
Thank you!
What an amazing gift you've given the world with this beautiful reading of a classic
What an incredible gem this man has given us, what a storyteller, it is alive. Stoker himself would listen rapt.
@@jangarnett858 Thanks, Jan! What a great experience that must have been, makes me happy to imagine it.
It was indeed! I was lucky enough to meet him too....a lovely gentleman who travelled over from his home in 🇨🇦 🍁 Canada
Man it’s difficult to find someone with such a nice voice to read to me I’m so happy I found u and happy that you share your beautiful work with all of us I wish u the greatest of paths and may luck wish u a happy enjoyable life
That is so kind! Thank you!
perfect narration, the cough turning pages, best real narration i have heard, you made it a book being read, thanks well done 5 star excellent
What a beautiful reading! Thanx 4 posting
Your narration so amazing and fluid! There were times I forgot that there was only one person reading because your distinction between was so great. Thank you for making this audiobook!
Your reading is a true gift to us humble listeners. I believe you were born to have your voice heard, I would not be surprised to see your name in credits soon!
That is extremely nice of you to say, thanks!
I've fallen asleep listening to your soothing voice all night out of exhaustion of the day but woken up to horror and surprise whenever an intense scene would come up. You and the way you narrated the book is top-notch. Thank you for the best experience ever!
Aaaaalllllll of my replies to your comments were deleted when my channel was temporarily disabled at the end of last month 😬💔 which is very frustrating! Please know how much I value you taking the time to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Being able to connect with people from all around the world and from all walks of life, through a particular passion of mine, is a truly incredible part of having a RUclips channel. Thank you everyone!

It says chapter 2 on the Audio. I can’t find part 1 :(
@@programmingisamazing2130 This is part 1, chapter 1 starts at 0:01:30 :)
@@redfoxvoice thank you!!! :)
We totally understand my man!
Thank you so much for not interrupting the mood and flow by announcing at the beginning of each chapter, as some other audiobook readings do, with "This is a [such-and-such] recording and is in the public domain . . ." etc.
And thanks also for having such an excellent reading style.
Lovely thing to listen too while its storming outside!
Yeah so many audio books are hard to listen to but he keeps listen fun.
Mr. Garnett thank you for replying so quickly. Well this explains everything. I had begun to listen to someone else’s reading of the book but have not found it as enjoyable, so I will wait for yours. Thanks again for your reply.
Thank you so much.....incredible. I binged the whole thing in one go...captivating and so brilliantly read...enjoyed it immensely....thanks again.
Really kind of you, thanks!
We saw The Last Voyager of the Demeter and had so many questions. We had read the novel many years before. I found your superb read and once started, couldn't stop listening. Thank you for many hours of perfection and imagination! Continued success in all you do ❤
Thanks so much for this!
Your voice is so comforting & suitably for this story well done 👏 I am really enjoying listening to x
You kept me company while I worked on a project all night long (10:30 -7:30)
Your voices are fantastic and the small piano parts allow for me to digest the whole the story.
Your pauses, rhythm, and everything is masterful! It’s calming and you truly become a fast favorite audio book channel!
So glad you are back. I was heartbroken when your work disappeared; lost, set adrift.
Best audiobook guy on RUclips no doubt.
Seriously nice of you to say, thanks!
Thank you so much for making this! I am reading Dracula for class and while I love the story, the actual reading is quite hard to get through. Your audiobook is making it very easy indeed.
You are the best narrator I’ve come across! Thank you for sharing
Really appreciate that, thank you!
Thank you for narrating one of my favorite books.
Good Lord!
I really thought this audiobooks was deleted for some reason permanently.
I frantically spend several days googling this version. I even thought you have moved to audible.
Good to have you back good sir!
Edit: Great audiobook, the reader speaks clearly and with emphasis. Doesn’t have a lot of ads like some other audiobooks.
There should only be one ad, exactly halfway through, at about 3:53:00
Are you skipping about in the video, or just letting it play?
oh I must I’ve confused it with another audio book, you’re right.
I tried to read this to fall asleep, but was too engrossed so I was awake to 2AM. :) Dracula is one of my favorite books, I'm very much enjoying your reading thus far! ❤ Finally, an 'adaptation' of Dracula that's likely to do Van Hellsing justice.
What a tremendous achievement. Absolutely loved it. BRAVO!
Very kind, thank you!
Mr. "Harker", you're absolutely captivating. I may never read again lol...
😆 I second that
@@cate4404 I third that 😂😂
Okay, I did not expect you to actually go for the Texas accent. It wasn't even that bad. I am madly impressed by your accent work in this narration. 10/10.
Dude! This is so good! I've been meaning to get around to Dracula for a while but I never checked it out because I expected it to be a slog, but you've really brought it to life. Thanks so much for making this! You're doing great work making classic literature accessible to contemporary audiences. Very important and cool!
Thank you for this video series, its really helpful for book reports
