I’ve seen small streamers on Twitch almost break down in tears over a $50 dollar donation, and a lot of people who only get 5-10 viewers per stream will explode with joy over a $5 dollar donation. How ungrateful do you have to be to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and complain about your lack of support?
Donations on twitch often mean the difference between if someone eats or not and it makes me happy to see genuine reactions like that! They're genuinely grateful for what they have in life and it shows through the camera. In Debbie's case she just wants to be rich and flex on everyone around her whilst living a fraudulent lifestyle under the guise of muh transition fund.
If ppl so much as throw a bit at me on twitch I'm eternally grateful. The fact people just take TIME OUT OF THEIR DAY to interact with me means the world to me. I don't need ppl to throw THOUSANDS at me, let alone act ungrateful for it. The absolute audacity is startling.
@@XNick291X if you are at a point where you need twitch donations to eat you should not own computer for streaming and should be working instead of laying home playing games
@@timotejlovrec9029 Streaming _is_ a job, though. You're presenting and creating content for an audience. If we're talking stable employment, landing a job takes time, and a lot of jobs don't pay particularly well especially with rents and grocery bills rising while wages stagnate. The climb out of the paycheck-to-paycheck life is a slow one, and if you've already got a computer and an Internet connection, it makes sense to fill your downtime with streaming for people who could help you make the climb a little bit easier. (Also, for the "you shouldn't own a computer" bit, job applications and networking is done by and large online, as is keeping of timesheets and rostering. You need a computer to work, so selling it to afford food is just going to screw you.)
I know you probably won't see this, but they're back at it again and this time they're using cats with cancer to get donations. There must be at least 10+ "Save (cat name) from Cancer" etc. One petition has over 40k, others over 10k. gofundme do cancellations and refunds all the time, but doing it to someone almost at the top of the intersectional hierarchy is extremely risky for them. It would be a PR nightmare if even just one publication picked up a story about a marginalized person getting their campaign(s) cancelled.
Thats extremely hard. GoFundMe gives the money as it comes in to the person who ran the gofundme. i know this bc i ran a gofundme to help fund my transition. I got $570, and the money was given to me basically daily. You cant refund money that you dont have anymore, sadly. If they did, it would come out of gofundmes pocket. $358k is a LOT of money for gofundme considering they take like hardly any of the money people get.
Well, if you physically donate to charity, you can't ask potentially fraudulent organisations to give your money back, as you don't own it anymore. As stated in the previous comments. Donation isn't an investment where you can hold someone accountable for malicious intents.

I agree with this. There are many people in this comment section who are choosing to send hate towards trans people because of this scam, but that is not the message that should be sent. I think what we can all learn from this video is that trusting people is okay, but never trust them before you get to know them. In this case, the scammer did not do anything to prove to her fans that she was actually going to use the money to get a surgical transition, all she did was lead them to believe that she was. This person spammed my friends and I last year and asked us to donate, help spread the gofundme and repost on our business pages because we were a group of trans and non-binary creators and we should “understand the struggle”. None of us thankfully ever posted it because the way it all happened felt very off and very weird. I only discovered that weeks after that she had been sending the SAME messages to more of my acquaintances and only when they posted about needing funding themselves. Piggybacking off of people who were actually struggling and needed help. It makes my stomach turn knowing what was actually going on now and how she was leeching off the community whenever so many of us can never reach the support level she did and has. It’s not okay and she needs to be held accountable. I hope anyone in the community that was kind enough to send money when they didn’t have the means to is able to get it back somehow.

Donations on twitch often mean the difference between if someone eats or not and it makes me happy to see genuine reactions like that! Its always so funny to me how these idiotic scammers completely waste their money on luxury goods. If i scammed 350k you can bet all of it would be invested, or i would buy myself a house. Instead of renting a luxury apartment and doing a down payment an a car LOL.
I would probably try to survive frome that amount of money as long as i colud not living like a rich b*tch
seriously, in the world of the “high class” $350k will NOT get you far enough to keep fitting in with them forever. Why throw it away on a lifestyle you won’t even be able to keep up, when you could use it to ensure your own financial stability? I’d take a stress-free financial situation over a luxury bag or some shit ANY day.

There needs to be an option to refund donations especially if its been proven that the reason for the go fund me is fraudulent. Go fund me as a company need to do better to protect its users. What a disgusting human being. I hope the rest of their life is filled with misery.
gofundme do cancellations and refunds all the time, but doing it to someone almost at the top of the intersectional hierarchy is extremely risky for them.

That's the problem. The kind of people that helped her are blinded by empathy. Even if a person comes from a bad background, is a part of an oppressed community etc, that doesn't mean he/she is a good person. People who victimize themselves so much are very suspicious. Always be skeptical.
I think this can hopefully open people's eyes into making people who start fundraisers provide PROOF of the situations they claim to be in, as well as calling them out early on for any bad behavior.
I appreciate these people's care for the trans community, as a trans person myself, but honestly sometimes people can be a little bit TOO willing to help strangers online.

@@Kirbystar121981 all of those potential free surgeries for cancers or childhood illnesses. very concerning indeed
@@Kirbystar121981 No, I don't know them personally, it's UCLA. The reason is because I've been to psychiatrists and transitioning for years now, have 2 letters of support, and I am a disabled person (legally) unfit for full time work so I cannot afford to pay for it myself, but it would improve my gender dysphoria and social anxiety to have the procedure done which may help me to be able to return to work. Weight loss surgery like bariatric is covered here too, if its proven to be medically necessary and such. CA offers these surgeries for free technically but they make it hard for people to get, for example, I have to go to LA because all the surgeons in my area have very strict guidelines to be eligible for the surgery (edit in case anybody was curious: in my case, I am 25 pounds overweight and that's why I was rejected. I am working on losing the weight gained over the pandemic, though, but they wont even put me on a waiting list, and my support letters can expire if I don't get scheduled quickly enough). I was trying since 2016 before getting approved from UCLA.
