Well---As a literal 40 year old who started cons in college, continued at 28 and has been doing it yearly except for 2020 and 2021, what happens is you manage to grow so much that you can afford a premium 20x20 foot space, hire employees, interact with strangers and fans alike, make 5-6 figures in a weekend, and then at the same time go, "Do I want to do this when I'm 50?" Ultimately, you get picky over which conventions you go to, and which you stay at home to take care of your personal life, family, sanity, etc.
this is so comforting to read!! ok because honestly, it's the lack of work/life balance for me right now. When I have 1 con a month, I feel like I'm living life, but when I don't have anything scheduled for more than 2 months, I feel the "itch" and I want to get back out there and talk and meet people :) I would just need to take the time to confidently grow~. Thank you so much for this message!
@@Sundrop.StudiosWhat really shifted my mentality is when my team and I went to MAGfest multiple years in a row but caught the flu twice in a row from it, driving home in blizzards. That made us go… “Okay no money is worth that.”
Omg ur SO my role model! 😭😭😭 Do you have any tips for newbie’s or show recommendations? I don’t live in the US but I would LOVE to start doing cons then but it’s so scary to choose a show to start with TuT (I like like, 2hrs away from Laredo/Macallen so have been considering shows there haha)
Could u do a guide of how to participate in an artist alley? How to prepare n everything? When should try to sign in? Cuz I wanna try but I'm so lost lol
Loving these longer and more chatty vlogs! I am so so curious to hear about long term plans for con goers. It's interesting to think about where you'd like to be in 10 years. You're right, no avenue for an artist is easy.
thinking of the 10 year plan is so daunting to me, realistically, if I think I can keep doing this for the next 2-3 years, I think I'm still on the right path! but there's certainly room for pivoting... less cons and being more selective for sure.
It was so amazing meeting you! In videos you give off this friendly and approachable vibe but meeting you in person you could feel it so much more! Hoping to see you again at cons in the future! PS- Your stickers are so high quality it's crazy!
btw, if you are looking for Taiwanese food in Phoenix. TSMC brought in a bunch of Taiwanese workers to help build and run their factory/fab in northern phoenix over by the i-17 and 303 loop. I know they were opening up restaurants catered towards their tastes up there as they had to bring in probably thousands of workers. love the videos btw!
Great vlog! My wife got one of your knit bags at the con! We love watching these to chase away those post-con blues haha. When you talk about putting your booth number on your cards - I had a quick thought - they make stamps with rotating dials where you can select letters/numbers on each dial - might be easier to just get one of those and stamp the booth number on each card when you go! Anyway keep up the great work, love your art style!
Omg what overhead lighting do you use for your posters?? They're so bright 🌞 also love the energy in the vlog, it's chill and yet super hype at the same time, idk how but great job!!
I saw you at Anime NYC! I hope you go to this con again next year! There were a few things I was eyeing but didn’t get to purchase this time around. The bags and prints were beautiful!
I didn’t see you! I would have dropped by to say hi! I’m so happy you came and I’m so happy for your sales! I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now, and it’s definitely been a journey and I’m so proud of your progress🎉❤! Hopefully I’ll see you next year!
hi hi!!! thanks for it again!! and I still have a couple more cons to go in the next few weeks. right now it feels like I will rest when I die ⚰️ definitely looking forward to my 2 month break after sept!
Hiii Anna!! I was the one that gave you the miffy sticker and kitkat. And I love Miffy as well : D. It was sooo nice to finally meet you in person!!♥I hope we run into each other again in the future!! 😊
I just got into my first convention and I’ve been doing the same thing where you chip away at some things each day. I’ve watched too many con vlogs of artists destroying themselves the week before and it’s like yeah no, I need sleep and to be mindful of what I’m bringing and have in stock.
@@Sundrop.Studios i think it can be overwhelming, but I know how I am and procrastinate. The convention isn’t until the second week of October so I still have plenty of time, but as it’s my first one there’s just a lot I don’t have yet that I had to rush to get done like a banner, business cards, display stuff, etc. it’s smaller too, so I don’t think I need a ton of stock, there’s just so many things to remember and think of!
This was such a cute vlog! ANYC is always a vibe but feels like a lot sometimes I think! Probably bc the Javitz is on the smaller side for the amount of people the con generates. Also, I couldn't catch the name of those saucy noodles, they looked sooooo good, I wanna find them haha.
To answer your question.. YES,... YES I WOULD TOTALLY DO THIS IN 10 YEARS LOL!!! I would rather this than my 9-5 job where I am constantly unhappy. I would love to do what I love to do.
YAY! I love this energy, you inspire me hahahaha! I love it for now, but I'm definitely looking out to make sure I diversify my income down the road too
Hi! Love your videos! I noticed you switched your print display from the clamps to a tripod setup - may I ask why you decided to switch? I am looking into buying a rig for a print display as well and the tripod ones are way more affordable, but I've heard people caution against them. Thank you!
I usually use table clamp displays, and that's still my preferred set up :) I only switched for this event because I anticipated that it would be a busy con and needed to save my weight in the luggage for merch! Tripods are much lighter than the table clamps I have. I hate tripod displays because they take up space behind your table and people trip over them all the time T.T also without fail, I see at least one person's tripod display come crashing down at any con I've ever been to.
loved this vlog and all of your vlogs so much! sad I didn't find out about your channel until after you returned from the denver con. :( can you share the name of the artist the made the assorted drinks print?
im so sorry about the $20 bagels HAHA i thought it was funny he could have gotten bagels probably Anywhere in nyc and he came back with the $20 ones 😆 ur setup looked soooo cute i love the aesthetic! Makes me wanna start tabling sooo bad RRAAHH
