I have heard this song many times but did not know the circumstances of how and when it was written. I had also never seen a translation. Michael, you have done Queen Lili'uokalani a great service in bringing us your arrangement of this Hawaiian folk song. You convey her sorrow of Hawaii losing its independence when it became part of the United States. Thank you, friend for your beautiful, moving, take on this sad song. 💔🌴🍍🌋🛖🕌🎼🎹🎶🚢

Hello Michael, I asked you a few days ago some questions in a comment on your video of Moonlight Sonata, Beethoven. Please, could you see it? It would help me so much to know how you can play so soft with MP11SE, specially compared with your acoustic grand piano. As I described in that comment I have too much difficulties with the let off simulation of the same DP. I don't see any advantage with this feature. I feel it makes me much more difficult to play pp or ppp (if not really impossible), with so much ghost notes. But in your videos you show it is possible to play very fluidity and naturally from a very soft ppp to a big forte. So, besides I need more technique, I have the impression that perhaps my DP has let off simulation very bad regulated, or needs lubrication, because I feel excessive resistance in the notch when playing slowly. Thank you very much much in advance
have you tried changing the piano's touch? there's multiple options from light to heavy :) Honestly to me id doesnt matter that much. You always have to be aware of the tip of your fingers in order to avoid ghost notes :)
@@pardonmypiano Hello Michael Finally I decided to use "Light" touch and I adjusted conveniently (for me and my headphones) the master volume. I have verified that the MP11SE let me get a pretty good dynamic range, between left and right hand and I'm feeling much more comfortable with it. I am not so worried in getting an "absolute" pianissimo sound, among other things because I don't have clear reference of how much loud in volume should sound a piano in ppp, and it will depend very much of each piano. And surely it is no so important. And using it normally I find It is extremely pleasant to play, and expressive, and I don't think now that there can be anything problematic with my piano's action. I simply must get use to its touch, surely very similar in sensations to a grand piano keyboard, although very different to my old keyboard. I can say that I am completely satisfied with my MP11SE. 😃 Thank you very much!
@@danielprado1290 I am so so happy Daniel!!! It took me a while honestly to fully get used with the keyboard. I had days in the beginning when all I wanted was to just play the grand piano haha 🤣

Her writing the song was not tied to the United States’ annexation of Hawaii. It was written well before that
