I've been playing for years now, at one point i was overwhelmed, but after dozens of colonies and ONI youtubers, i just got better to the point where I would just say "wish there was more to do now"... Fret not you can still enjoy the game with simple thriving base, try finishing all the achievements in one run, that oughta make the game fun and stressful XD

      @@audrianmarak1574 simple thriving base? That's just the thing, it feels like there is no such thing in ONI. You *always* have a crisis to solve, be that heat buildup, stress buildup, or other kinds of resource exhaustion. Yes, there is a point where you can step aside and say "okay, my base can function without my input for a good long time, so I can focus on tinkering and experimenting with that fun thing I saw...". The problem is, it comes quite past the mid game. Which means that you can't sit around and learn the basic mechanics at relaxed pace before tackling complex stuff. Creative mode is of very little help because it factors out materials and power.

    Hey Brothgar. Nice Video as always!
    We tested a little bit and:
    The carbon dioxide fridge combination doesn't work for two reasons now.
    1. Only Hydrogen, Chlorine and Vacuum count as sterile (maybe some more gases) atmosphere.
    Edit: Carbon Dioxide counts as sterile atmosphere again.
    Other gases as well as liquids count as "normal" atmosphere and give debuffs depending on the food source.
    2. The fridge only cools down to 2°C meaning it is refridgerated but not "deep frozen" that needs -18°C or lower.
    So the options are either cool food to -18°C or lower via any method plus sterile atmosphere
    or fridge plus sterile atmosphere (not vacuum that makes it nearly impossible to cool the fridge in that case) at -18 or lower but the fridge temperature doesn't matter in that situation.
    Have a nice day everyone :)

      About the food temperature update : the temperature of the food is taken into account only if it is in a vacuum, if it is in a gas or liquid it is the temperature of this gas or liquid that is taken into account (you can have a freezer at -18 ° , if food at 75 ° is placed there it will immediately be in a deep frozen state, no need to cool it quickly).
      Edit: you can also use a couple weezwort for early deep freeze

    The Steam Engine rockets always perplex me, How do you keep your steam pipe from rupturing? Mine constantly break and my rocket never gets steam.

    • @defiantnight2668
      @defiantnight2668 3 года назад +2

      Insulate your gas pipe, but even then it will slowly lose temp inside the pipe so don't let it build up and stop in one place. Your steam might be too cold initially, if it's near ~100 degrees and it loses temp in the pipe then it will condense into water and break the pipe

    • @riggerw8778

    • @defiantnight2668
      @defiantnight2668 3 года назад

      @@riggerw8778 It sounds like it probably is. Cool steam vents emit it at 110 degrees, and you're probably sucking it up at an even cooler temperature as it disperses and shares heat with its surroundings. It only has to cool down to 97 on the way to space to break a pipe, and if it's immediately breaking the pipes before getting there then it's probably already cooled to around ~100 degrees when it's put in the pipe; unless the cool steam vent is right underneath the space biome, it might just be too far away.
      There are things you could do to mitigate this. You could fill the background tiles of the steam vent room with temperature shiftplates, to retain the heat for longer, insulate the whole room, run your pipes through insulated tiles to further reduce temperature drain - but it might be easier to make a thermo aquatuner room near your rocket.
      An insulated box with a thermo aquatuner and a gas pump (both made of either gold amalgam or steel) will make the transport of the steam much shorter, so even if it's only 110 or so in the box it should make it to the rocket.

    Hey Brothgar, like the videos.
    For the food, I was able to convert my vacuum storages into deep-freeze storages by adding a colling loop, a metal tile as the floor tile, and filling the space with chlorine. I used crude oil for my cooling loop since I needed something that could go to -25 C and I had to replace the seal with petroleum so the seal didn't freeze. All in all, we are pretty back to "storing food in chlorine" that worked so well pre DLC with the added difficulty of cooling the storage.
