  • In this video I turn Natural Edge Vessel from a root of a Yew tree , It was quite a challenging turn with all the dirt etc that you find in root balls and there was a massive amount of hand sanding involved but Its a stunning piece to look at and full of character .. I finished it with danish oil ..

@@AndyPhillipWoodturning 100% agree. I'm not creative in the slightest and have an odd dislike of earthy tones, but the colours in that wood are unbelievable!
Out of interest, how much, typically, would a piece like that sell for?
PS This isn't a "muh price" type of question. I'm always amazed when I watch genuine craftsmen produce a piece of work and, more so, the amount of time that is put into it. I work in tech and don't even want to think about the amount of money the company I work for would charge for that amount of time D:

I have been watching several of your videos and i am truly in awe. You give a whole new meaning to wood turning/carving and it is absolutely beautiful. I have fallen back in love with wood because of you but i am now 70 and know it wouldn't matter what equipment i had i could never dream of producing what you produce. You are a wood artist. Congratulations. You are incredibly talented and i wish i could afford one of your pieces as it would have pride of place in my living room. Keeeep turning!

the before and after is just jaw dropping. I would have loved to see the holes filled with epoxy resin. But It's a matter of taste. But also ensure that it can be used, not just look pretty.
