I always use silicone grease on all fuel line nipples before attaching lines. Makes it much easier to remove and replace, especially if you have to do it several times during a job. I used to apply the grease to the inside of the lines but realized that’s pushing grease further into the line so once I really thought about it I decided applying to the outside of the nipples was a better idea, even though the grease never really causes any problems.

That is a great tip. Thanks for sharing!

First check oil. Second (I never try to start an engine with whatever’s already in the tank and the carb bowl) - remove tank, dump out and check fuel quality. Third - remove pencil filter from fuel outlet nipple and flush out. Fourth - clean out tank with pencil filter removed, blowing out from inlet nipple and fuel fill. Rinse out with alcohol or brake cleaner and blow out again to remove any remaining moisture.
That tank is so easy to remove and clean I can’t imagine not doing that first.
    Then pull the carb.
That’s my two cents and I’m stickin’ TO it! 😉.

I would have tried needle nose vice grips on the center area of the float bowl pin as well as multiple doses of penetrating fluid.
I suspect that carb could have been saved, although it almost seemed like the bowl nut might have been cross threaded, as difficult as it was to remove.
I run all carbs through two 30-minute cycles, which always leaves them running fine unless there’s a mechanical issue like worn throttle plate rod allowing an air leak.

After 3 30 minutes cycles in the ultrasonic with degreasers, the corrosion wasn’t fixable by me. The jets, air passages, threads, etc were swollen and would have needed research to find the original diameter the hand drill each. This one was a lost cause to me. I save them when I can but this was a lost cause
