My sister lived in Sag Harbor for nearly 40 years. She passed away in 2019, but was very involved with the town. Thanks for this lovely tour Tom!
Tom as tour guide is amazing. Combine humor and history. He deserves more subscribers. Always showing what the others don't show. 👏👏👏👏
Tom is the SICKEST genius in the world!
Great support work there, Mercy from Overwatch! 😉
Tom drop some seriously sick plugs
Sag Harbor is my home town! I graduated Pierson High in 1994, my mom was a teacher at the elementary school for 35 years. This was a great video.
Did you know the history of it?
My friend is from New York and he left in 1970..and he talks about it all the time so I showed him your videos so he can see what it looks like now. And we bond over your videos and we both think you are very likeable and enjoy your videos..so keep the good work up Tom. 💜
I lived in Sag Harbor for a year 2003-2004 while working as an au pair... was the most wonderful experience ever! Even took the children to Goat on a Boat! Glad to see it's still going on! I attended many productions at the Bay Street Theatre, what a wonderful place!
Ooohhhh so sad that Sag Harbor is officially The Hamptons. STOP CALLING IT THAT! 🤪 11 generations of my mom's family grew up here. I used to spend all my summers as a kid there with my aunt and uncle. So odd to see it's been taken over by the elites. I know it's been forever, but my memories from childhood are still very alive in my head. 💗💖
Hey!! You almost said Mashashamuet Park correctly! Good job! 😜
LOVE this channel, dude.
Loved this tour of the "Unhampton" Hampton town. I have only been once, but after watching this will add to our list of things in New York State worth another looks, thanks to Tom Delgado. Happy to be one of your Patrons. But I think you need an REI gift card to get some decent gloves or at least glove liners for those damp NYC winter days. Great video. Kudos to your camerawoman, too!
Loved the video, thanks for branching out of New York and going to an area that we don't get to see much. It was a very interesting history lesson.
Always enjoy your walking tours! Keep doing what you do!
Thank you for sharing. I was born and raised on Long Island and still don't know anything about the history. None of it was taught in school. I read that book Travels with Charlie. He lived with his dog in a his camper.
Happened on this today, I have been in NC since 1985, but I grew up in Sag Harbor. The cemetery that your video started in was often a place where local elementary students went to to charcoal sketches and the house, more recently painted, I also felt was creepy and haunted. It was so nice to watch you walk areas that I always rode my bike around. Sag Harbor was a wonderful place to grow up and I never realized how special it was there until I moved, sweet and quaint. Thank you ❤️
Shout-out to you for the black history 👏🏾 It was cool to learn about it, can't wait to do more research to learn more!
Great video of Sag Harbour, easy, humorous, historical, so good to hear American heritage being told from here in London, shall watch more. B B
:( i used to live in Montauk. I miss it so much. Thanks for making this video
Year round? My uncle & Grand parents lived in Amagansett & Springs. It was always cool to visit them in the winter ❄️
My mother-in-law lives in East Hampton Village! And a cousin lives in Springs alongside a childhood friend of my husband’s. Parts of it can be “somewhat“ affordable. My mother-in-law’s family lived in East Hampton when it only had “those summer people” that no one liked or paid attention to.😆
I am convinced you are a genius.
You've got this amaaazing knowledge of history, woven together in your casual signature walkabout way - muchas gracias Tom - keep 'em coming!
I'm not 100% sure - but I believe Tom only gets paid by RUclips if you watch the ads all the way through. So don't skip ads on Tom's tours. Skip everything else on RUclips. That's some good stuff!
@tomdnyc The only channel where I enjoying the talking more than the scenery and the places.
My wife and I had the privilege of visiting Sag Harbor a few times. It’s a really charming, loving place.
Love seeing the Gustavino ceiling in the John Germaine Library (I've probably misspelled its name). Gustavino traveled to my area of the country (Western North Carolina) to work on the Biltmore House. But he stayed in the area, and set up a major tile and brick-making outfit. He remained here for the rest of his working life, more or less. The vaulted ceiling that you see in the library is very much like (same tile, same application) of the dome of the church, in Asheville, NC which he built (St. Lawrence's Basilica), and in which he is actually buried. The church's vaulted celling was the largest ovular dome in the country---built entirely without steel--until the era of big sports arenas. It also contains some outstanding spiral staircases in the towers that are also built without a steel skeleton of any sort. So it is interesting to see his work in Sag Harbor. I bet the tiles came from here. Keith Green
Data stream reception mode ON before pushing PLAY button. Comprehensive and valuable content as usual. Thank you
Good camera work Lucie.
Congrats Tom on hitting 15K. I know this video is going to be a banger🙌🏾‼️
I really enjoy your fact filled & interesting tours; thank you !! Any chance you might take a trip down to Coney island sometime soon. Has to be one of my favourite places to visit in New York when its quiet !!. Stay safe. John.
These videos are awesome! Keep them coming...very informative of the history of NY
I don't know what to tell ya 😛 Tom is my favourite RUclipsr. Always cracking me up & dropping tidbits of info into the bargain 😊 Cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Dude has the best tour videos on youtube
This was awesome. What I like is that I really didn’t know anything about Sag Harbor, unlike NYC, which I’m very familiar with.
Terrific video, I've been watching your tours since the Holday break. I live in Manhattan and love New York History, thank you for sharing your passion.
22:31 "This is all off the cuff, so CHILL OUT!"
I see your patreon has helped out very well, now we're coming from the Hamptons😅😅. Great video and Happy New Year.
Lol
Hey fabulous walk! I have heard of the Hamptons and cemetaries actually interest me a lot! History of all kinds fascinate me. Awesome walk! Thank you! I have hit like and subscribe! Happy Monday and heartfelt greetings from Vancouver, BC, Canada! I miss my trips to Manhattan but when it's safe to travel again, which will take some time, I will visit again!!
Outstanding as always! Stay well, Tom!
Another excellent video. Feel like I'm walking around a film in the 80s. No big deal
Brilliant as always, ace 👍
I was already missing your tours!🤭 And also the ones with Sarah Funk! 💖
Looking forward to seeing all of your tours. Thanks
Branching out. I like it.
My great great grandfather was a Whaling captain out of Sag Harbour in the early 1800s. Because he would be gone for over a year at a time, he gave his lawyer "Power of Attorney" to take care of all his investments and bills. One year he sailed back home after being gone almost 2 years, and he found his lawyer had Sold ALL his investments (including his home, his ship, and a city block he owned in Manhattan) and skipped town with all the money. My great great grandfather lost EVERYTHING and never did find the lawyer that ripped him off. He later died a pauper, very sad story..
Darn man, that sucks
Of course I've heard of the Hamptons!
Tom----Fascinating tour with all the history. You did a Great Job !!!!!
Grateful for this historical tour. Great job. Thanks.
Amazing walking tour. Your ability to remember facts and spit them out perfectly is remarkable.
You always make my day, Tom!!
Great video! Beautiful town! Thanks!
Great video, Tom! I like all the different style houses as you walk down the street. Also the idea of Steinbeck's little gazebo cottage in the back. What a cool vibe.
Tom, thank you. Whale oil was was used for illumination, it was replaced by Kerosene as you mentioned
Nice video! I like your casual but information packed style.
Just wonderful
Thank you for another tour video. I have been waiting for your next video for quite a long time. I always love your videos because I learn a lot from them. Thanks TomDNYC! U are the Best!
Oh Tommy D! I have a Sag Harbor you can tour!
Good discussion of historical context
Extremely good tour 👍 really enjoyed it!
AMAZING VIDEO!!!
My 10th Great Grandfather was Thomas Osborn that helped settle New Haven CT and East Hampton. The family left Kent England in 1635.
Sick plugs are all over the place 🤪
Greets from Germany and thanks for the entertaining videos 👍
Wonderful tour, Tom. Thank you!
great tour
What a beautiful town and so much history! Thanks Tom!!!! If you were to get $1 for everytime you said whaling, you woud be able to pay a month's rent LOL.
Love watching your vids , so much information and lots of laughs , thank you and stay safe
9.21 Bamburgh Castle Northumberland UK! It's amazing, beautiful and huge ✌️✌️😊😊
Also, if we’re doing outside of New York City suburbs you should do Morristown New Jersey! Lots of revolutionary history, and that’s where I got my guide dog from, so I’m just a little biased…
"It's minimalistic, but you captured his spirit." 💀😂
I could listen all day and the view is great!
This is very timely; I just finished reading Moby-Dick. Another great tour; thanks, Tom!
When we were kids a dead whale washed up on shore out there. My grandparents took us to see it. Photos of my brothers & I standing near it.
HEY TOM , CAN YOU DO A "SON OF SAM" MURDER TOUR ??? POR FAVOR ???
LMAOOOOOOO when you started to sing Billy Joel’s song💀‼️
Great job Tom!! (After watching your videos my husband repeats all day "O.M.G.... as the kids say")
Amazing! This place is always in my heart. A perfect destination for me. I love the experience. The views are so enticing as always! :)
Great tour. Now many of those cottages in Sag Harbor cost millions to buy. I really miss the old Bridgehampton Raceway, which was in Sag Harbor but closed in the late 90s to make way for some god-awful golf course, which caused an uproar in the community because the fertilizer used to keep up the golf course was running into and polluting the local waters. Great track to drive and used to hold SCCA sportscar, Can-Am and World Sports Car racing and included drivers such as Mario Andretti, Mark Donahue, Parnelli Jones, George Fullmer and others.
Tom you should go to Westchester county in White Plains N.Y. Which I’m from there and talk about the Battle of white plains
sick plug!
Just found this channel today as the Hells Kitchen tour showed up in my recommendations. Subscribed! Getting ready to binge!
Love your videos, very informative and fun..Delgado the best NYC tour guide 🔝🙏👏👏
Thank you for the beautiful sights of Long Island, and the interesting story of the whalers.
You mentioned that Harry Belafonte lived there. Being from Jamaica. Like Bob Marley. I wonder if he named his group The Whailers inspired by Belafonte.
You probably don't remember OBI East, a night club in the 70s I use to go to, always wanted to live in the Hamptons, no money, I love LI born & raised, and I miss it! Tom, have you ever gone to Jones beach as a kid?
Tom has the best channel of all. It's a sick plug, I know.🤣
Great video. Love Long Island. Thanks.
I know it’s many hours away, but would u consider touring Woodstock??
And Burlington, Vermont. Very interesting city. Please.
Minor point, but I’ll make it anyway. Watching from Seattle, it seems weird that a place can be dry and sunny in winter time.
Anyways ....😂😂😂... another fun fact filled film... where’s Phil ????
Well isn't this a lovely coincidence? I was there on a little mini R&R escape for three nights just before Christmas. It is such a lovely town, but I am quite biased towards the Atlantic side from a natural beauty POV. I just love the waves and beach. The best time I had was exploring Georgica Beach with practically no one there.
I also spent a couple nights in Montauk over Thanksgiving, and I think I'll definitely be planning more off-season trips there in the future. Much more relaxed vibe than the Hamptons, cool little village, amazing beaches, and the area around the lighthouse is fantastic for hiking and exploring.
This is a realy great tour
Love it❤
Everybody should give Tom hand of applause the Hamptons is a 2 1/2 hour drive from the city.😂
Very beautiful harbor
Great video! You should come to New Bedford, MA and check out our Whaling Museum and whaling history.
I like Sag Harbor because it does not feel like a Hampton. It had a good pizzeria that closed a few years ago unfortunately. I don’t know what’s good now. Avoid tony and eat at Sam’s in East Hampton. It’s been there for decades and still has those red vinyl- style booths. I’ve been in that five and dime. I found some cheap cotton yarn to knit a dishcloth with for about two bucks and some gum and sunblock. Not bad.🤷🏻♀️
I enjoyed this tour and learned things I wouldn’t have even thought to ask. For some reason, I never made the Steinbeck connection. An interesting thing about that bookstore, Canio’s, is every summer, it holds a Moby Dick Marathon. Days of…Moby Dick lectures, people who pay to read chapters, etc. If you’re an English major, maybe the Moby Dick party is for you. At least you’ll actually get through the whole book, waiting to see which celebrities are reading a chapter.
Keep up the good tours. And hey, without the sick plugs, how would I actually be reminded of places I’m interested in seeing?
Loved your art.
Randomly on my feed. But your pretty entertaining. Good job. Liked and subscribed.
Nelson Alhgren is from Chicago!
Dude! Do Montauk walking tour!
Totally the wrong time of year to do Sag Harbor. Should've done this in the summer
@27:10 northern most, port of call, New York?
Interesting Egyptian building whaling connection
I ues to live in sag harbor, Hampton, i love that town and i hope i can go back there again one day 😊 good luck to you mr!
those little houses he walked by are cute! very nice for just one person or a couple, maybe even a couple with a kid or two. :)
Such Fun!!☮️
_Sick videos_
My family settled there around 1631.❤
