@@aino2927so the indigenous tribes that weren’t completely decimated were forced onto reservations which were usually as far away as possible from the European colonisers (which also meant they were isolated, often far away from basic resources and lost their alliances/trade agreements with other tribes. It’s still true to this day that many reservations struggle to access basic needs like running water, safe public transportation routes, sewage treatment facilities etc.).
Anyway - the way I see the joke is twofold 😝 firstly, that there weren’t that many indigenous people left IN GENERAL after colonisation (compared to before), and so many tribes were forced to stay in their own reservations - the joke being that the only choices for “dates” were people already on the reservation… ie. people you’re already related to 😂🤦🏼♀️
Of course, it’s just a joke and absolutely not a diss to indigenous people. 🙌🏻
Just a side note I’m sure no one asked for lol… I’m not Native American whatsoever, but I fully back Indigenous Americans 🙌🏻 I’m a Scots-Irish (cultural) Catholic so I have bitter experience with England’s habit of stealing land and dividing and destroying native tribes (in our case, clans). The Highland Clearances are eerily similar to the way the colonisers divided and terrorised the Native American tribes. We hear all the time that the Highland Clearances were Scot-on-Scot crimes, and nothing to do with England… but they put the whole thing in motion and were the ultimate benefactors. Just like when one Native American tribe would slaughter rival tribes, one after the other. Sure, it was Native-on-Native… but it was on the orders of the colonists (and in return, that tribe wasn’t murdered themselves by the colonists). Likewise with slave traders who were black people themselves. White people/colonist sympathisers will always bring these things up and say “we didn’t do that! You did that to each other” or “if we’re guilty, so are your people because they traded slaves too/killed entire tribes that don’t exist anymore as a result! You’re not innocent in the situation!” Survival and the desperation to save your own people makes people do things they’d never normally do. The people actually pulling the strings and creating the situation to begin with conveniently escape any real consequences 😒

My family was kicked out of Germany by Queen Anne of Britain and sent to Germantown, NY. They interbred like crazy for like 150 years. My family isn't ugly, in fact quite good-looking, but genetic problems and mental illness are abundant. I have arthritis and I'm not even thirty yet, and I'll likely get osteoporosis before I'm 35 and hit menopause early. My sister hooked up with an Aleut so hopefully that saves the bloodline.
