But imagine being in her shoes. Feeling unwanted and ridiculed even when she went ahead and changed her entire appearance. It's like she lost the last bit of hope that she could be wanted by someone if she looked better. That would crush me, ngl. I'd be way more dramatic and hysterical then she was.
Eloise saying that Penelope wanting to take a husband was “so unlike her” shows how much their friendship was always centred around Eloise and what she thought and wanted with Pen just as a listener but it not being reciprocated. Because Penelope very clearly stated from the first season to episode that she wanted to marry and find love but Eloise only thinks of herself. If they are to become friends again Eloise has to learn how to be less selfish

Honestly, fuck Eloise for this very reason. She's selfish, privileged, and entitled. I hope they do more with her character aside from the constant annoying monologuing about how she hates the patriarchy and marriage.
@@hynnow18 yes! They learn how to be a considerate friend, they showed better communication too. I didn’t think I’d like them being friends from the trailer but it surprised me. Eloise needs someone who speaks out and up more, and Pen someone who listens more intently (yk like Colin). I‘m not sure I want them to be friends again, at least not as close ones 🤔
Exactly! I was trying to explain this to my friends a few days ago. It took Eloise this long to figure out Penelope because she barely listened to her in the first place. She only focused on herself

In RMB, she thought he was ashamed... and when she said it to him, he told her he wasn't ashamed he was jealous of the fact she had a career.

@RinnieButterfly they haven't really introduced that aspect in the show... and I'm wondering how they can because of some of the other changes they've made.
In the book, he looks at Anthony and his responsibilities as the Viscount, Benedict with his art and Penelope with her writing and feels lacking.
In the show, Anthony is leaving all his responsibilities to other people. They seem to have forgotten Benedicts' art, and he doesn't know about Penelope yet.

I loved it and have watched it over 20 times now. The only thing I would change is the last thing Penelope said before they started kissing is what Colin should have said

(And here’s the change I suggest)

After watching part 1 of season 3 over and over I bought the book Romancing mister Bridgerton and read it all in about 2-3 days

Small note I just realized about Pen/Debling dancing. Debling is quite literally, the ONLY other person in the entire series to dance with Pen other than Colin. I'm pretty Colin staring at them dancing is him being very aware of that is literally dying on the inside that he use to be the only person she danced with, and now that is fading away (and its a bigger change from the books that he actively wants to dance with her rather than being reluctant).
I gotta say, I really enjoyed how Penelope’s brother in laws seemed to be genuinely rooting for her and kind. ☺️

Does anyone realise, Penelope (from Odyssey) waited for 20 years for Odysseus' return, fooled a room full of suitors with her schemings. Penelope, thus for her nature also means "the one who waits".... Penelope Featherington is equally crafty and patient and if the debut is held at her 18th year, she is 20 now.... 😮
Apparently in the book, she's 28 because that's what a spinster is, over 26 years old.
They wrote this season so well. At the end of season 2, I was really unhappy with Peneloppe and how she treated Eloise. But now, after seeing how guilty she feels and how graciously she handles the aftermath of all that has happened, I'm really rooting for her. I hope her and Eloise become friends again. Friendship and true love are equally important.
I feel like Eloise took Pen for granted..yes I know she feels betrayed discovering Pen's secret..but I also feel if Eloise wasn't so self absorbed she could've been figured out that Pen is Whistledown

I do love that they switched one or two of the lines from the book in the carriage. Instead of Penelope asking if the driver could keep going, it was rather nice and fun to hear Colin say it. I think in the book Colin mentioned the possibility of them not being seen and that was moved to Penelope, it felt as if there was a small difference in the dynamic in the carriage.
If I learned one thing watching Bridgerton it’s that Violet always knows

I haven’t watched Bridgerton. I just saw a thread about these two on Twitter and decided to read the whole thing. I am now going to watch bridgerton. Not once have I ever seen a female lead who looks like me in a romance. Penelope looks like me. It makes me so happy
Unpopular opinion but her mother isnt all that bad. I think her approach to Penelope trying to gain a husband was off but then for the time the show is set it was basically uncalled for. I feel like she was doing her best to make Penelope feel comfort in a very possible future
I kind of agree. I've been watching the whole show for the first time and I feel that Penelope's mother isn't so much a villain as she is just a personification of society.

Dude the way he was literally wildin around town with all these different women…it felt so different than the sweet, simple Colin from the previous seasons. Then again, I suppose that is the point. His sudden change in character shows that he is being less authentic to himself and is seeking to fill a void in his life…perhaps a void that could be (is) filled by Penelope. Then again, I haven’t read the books. I don’t know his character very well. To me, it didn’t feel like Pen and Colin had a genuine moment of connection until like the carriage scene (after they got down and dirty) and started laughing together. IDK maybe that is just me 😭 The sexual and romantic tension was definitely there. But imo it felt less steamy or frequent than in previous seasons of Bridgerton. But I know that will surely be remedied when the next part comes out. I loved watching this season so far. After watching this, I feel the need to watch it again to truly absorb everything going on….you know, for science

@@lilianamtz6456 friends to lovers is one of my faves tropes but nope, I didn't feel Colin's love. We, for sure, have seen Penelope's longing for him and her unrequited love. In season 1 Colin was in love with Marina and in S2 he thought he still was.. In S3, he has one dream about her and in the next episode he was all marry me, I can't stop thinking about you.. What they showed us from Colin's pov wasn't enough. It felt rushed and the pacing wasn't it but I guess it's because of what the rest of the season will bring and I can't wait to see them together!

Could be because we all binge watched them 😂😂😂 second part is going to have a lot more drama with the whole Whistledown issue. Even in the book there was a lot between the proposal and the marriage because of it.
I would have liked to see Colin's process of falling for her stretched out a little more. I could have had a whole season of that. But then, there is so much drama (like the Whistledown reveal) to get through afterwards, so I guess I understand it
Same. There shouldn't be as many pointless plotlines (e.g. Benedict and Mondrich) as there was. In the book we can read their inner monologue and see what they're thinking so even if things happen fast it doesn't feel as rushed, in the show however I feel like they didn't flash out Colin's inner turmoil as much as they should.

Same. There are too many plot lines, too many characters and so little time. Everything is constantly and unnessesarly distracting from the main plot. We didn't got to see the couple as the main focus like in the other seasons. They took their sweet time for this season but everything feels rushed.

From the moment they shake hands after Colin apologizes to Penelope, she reels him in. Unknowingly. Coming back from his tour he was still in his ‘rake behavior’. But with her Charme (which really just worked on him & later on Lord Debling), her warmth & sincerity, he couldn’t resist anymore. He tried to hold back, when he hurt his hand on the broken glass, avoiding be touched by her. But the more her focus led away from him, the more he became aware how much she means to him.
No from the moment he sees her in that green dress after her transformation makeover walking alive down those stairs at the Ball is when Colin started to become romantically interested in her. And she perfectly ignored him in that moment and gave no eye contact. Yes the handshake after the apology was another example of the beginning of their new relationship . Also when she ran out of that hall and he noticed and complemented her dress. Said that the color really suited her. It was the first time he commented on her clothing.
