  • This video provides steps on how to correct or prevent a smelly odor coming from a bathtub 🛁 or shower drain. 🚿
    One call we get, time and time again, is by people looking for a solution when unpleasant odors start coming from a shower or laundry drain.
    Today we will give you step by step instructions on how to fix a stinky drain all by yourself saving you time, calling a plumber and money.
    Understand that if you can’t get rid of shower drain smells on your own, the water doesn’t drain-or worse, is backing up, it could be an issue with your sewer or septic tank. This is likely not a DIY fix, so it’s best to hire professional help at:

      I see people put half a cup of baking soda first then half a cup of vinegar in the drain to clean what every residue is there. And they say to do it as soon as the smell comes back, a month later or 3 months later it depends. I tried it today so I’m hoping it actually works and I don’t smell anything tomorrow morning 🙏🏾

    Our main bathroom has this issue and we are a family of 6 using it many many times a day. We are pretty sure that the smell from the septic tank is coming up from the bathtub. I add water to the trap and it does help but you can hear it glugging for quite some time and then the smell comes back again. Any tips?

    I have a problem. Put in a new toilet, then a smell started coming that I can't quite explain. Hired a plumber, he removed the toilet I put in, checked the toilet flange, said the wax ring was fine. He put the toilet back in, and when he left, the smell started again. It burns my nose. He said it might be the new silicon chalk, but I don't buy it. And here's the kicker, the smell goes away when toilet is removed. At my wits end here.

    When I turn on the tap in the sink the water displaces the water in the p-trap and lets the methane gas come up. The sink stinks, the tub stinks, the shower drain stinks. This is a continuous problem..

    • @billl2383
      @billl2383 6 лет назад

      Paul Rodriguez it shouldnt displace it to,the point there is a leak of the gases thats strange

      Try extending down the u portion of the trap with extensions before and after the trap just a few inches that should work

      Do you have a water softener? If so it will remove chlorine from your water which kills bacteria. Bacteria is probably what your smelling.

    Here's a lie and flawed logic not 1 minute into the video.
    He says he gets calls... all the time... and they are from DIYer's. And he's ALL FOR THAT. Really? If you're all for that, then you clearly don't make a living as a plumber. When you give someone advice over the phone that allows them to complete a job on their own, you've just done work for free. And they will call you next time you say? Right, for more free advice. I would NEVER advise someone how to complete a job over the phone. Give me a break man.
