- Everybody and their grandma told me about Dakota Digital and their premium quality digital gauges. Just to let everybody - I love digital gauges but they do take sometime to get use to when you're familiar with their analog gauges counterparts.
The installation of the Dakota Digital gauges was easy and super smooth. One thing I did change out was the factory Harley-Davidson chrome trim rings and replace them with Harley's black trim rings from a Street Glide Limited.
The part numbers you'll need for the blacked out Street Glide or Road Glide gauge rings are 61400670 and 61400671.
Getting back to the Dakota Digital gauges, I went with the MLX-8414 which are specifically designed for Baggers like Street Glides and Road Glides. Something really cool about the gauges are the color changing features and the performance times it can log for you. Like 0 - 60mph times and 1/4 mile times.
The gauges have tons of features and so Dakota Digital will get an A+ rating from me on the quality, fit and finish. Only time will tell how much I continue to like these, so you'll have to stay tuned in for an update.

Thanks for the tip and part numbers for the black trim rings. I just install the MLX-8414 and the black rings on my 2021 Street Glide Special and they look incredible.
You’re welcome, bud. 👊🏼🤘🏼
Dope upgrade bro, I was thinking about getting them for my RG
So far I'm liking them and I love the fact you can change the colors on them to your preferences.
Thanks for your help. I just had mines installed at the Harley dealership and it was not very helpful and showing me how to do the Bluetooth but this video did.
@@fogdogrides you’re welcome, bud. And I’m glad to hear it turned out ok👊🏼🤘🏼
I do like the fact that you can customize. I wish they had more of an analog look like new cars for the newer baggers. All digital just the feel of analog but I'd probably get used to it. I'm taking mine out today to send out have the light colors change. Getting rid of that piss yellow will be a big improvement
Jim, I agree. I went back and forth for months since I couldn't decide if I wanted to get rid of the analog ones. It's something about seeing a needle move that's nice. Although, I'm happy with the digital ones, but I still have to get use to them.
I like the color changing aspects and all the info they provide. I agree with you; get rid of that piss yellow. LOL!
Nice. Looks very easy
Yeah it definitely was an easy swap.
Looks clean 🧼
So fresh and so clean 🤘🏼
Watching
😬🤘🏼
Looks badass 👍🏽
Thanks! I'm lovin the gauges too 🤘🏼
Nice look. I'm really old school and kinda stuck on the steam gauges. Would definitely like to change the bezels though. Are they SG part# stocked?
Yeah I feel ya. I went back and forth on the idea for months. It is. Street Glide part number. Check out the description in the video, I've listed the part numbers you'll need. 😬🤘🏼
did you happen to get a red key DTC light after install? I had mine installed 2 days ago (freakin LOVE them) and have a red solid key icon and 3 dtc codes. One i am sure is from a tpms light i had on prior to the install but the others are baffeling me.
I have:
U0315 - engine (cleared but remains)
C0077 - Security (cleared but remains)
ABS
C1100 (Cleared but remains)
but starts and rides perfectly ride but cant seem to figure out what is causing these codes
@@sublimekid247 yes, I did. I have a video on the fix. It doesn’t affect the bikes performance at all, it’s more of an annoyance to have the lights on the dash. Take it to Harley and have them flash it off the bike. I have a video on the process if they need it. 🤘🏼
@@MichaelBertini ohhhh do you have the video in your collection?! The light is driving me batty but my god I LOVE these gauges!
@@sublimekid247 😂I feel ya! It was the same for me. Absolutely nuts 😅 yeah it’s in my Harley-Davidson playlist. But any dealership should know what to do to remove those lights. It took my dealership 15 minutes after I told them what I did.
Any detail you can share on the bike stand. I love dynamoto but nothing for baggers. How did you install the spools?!
I went with the one from Pitbull Stands because I've used them of all my sports bikes for years and they're great! The spools came with the MJK Performance rear axel.
Those trim rings are $176 that’s f-ing crazy!!!
Tell me about it. 😕🥺
Is there an alternative place to put the temp sensor? Don't like the idea of unscrewing it when time comes for an oil change.
Good question - I'm not too sure. The only option I had seen in the instructions was that location. Like you, I didn't like the idea of replacing the normal oil drain bolt with a censored one, but of course I do it to review the product.
I'm still not sure I made the best decision going with these gauges. I'll be making an updated video soon too. I'm still on the fence with these. 😔
I need to ask lol did you sell the stock tach and speedometer already?
Not yet, why?
Do you think the kraus riser with pullback would have been too much?
I think for someone looking to have a more "relaxed" ride, that would be an even better setup than the straight riser. 👍🏼
The part number for the trim rings are not for road glide or are they for both if not do you no where i can get gloss black for my road glide ?
I'm not sure on the road glide, but you should have the dealer check the part number for the CVO Road Glide trim rings. 👍🏼
I thought you cannot order CVO parts? Unless tou own one ?
WAY easier install on the SG compared to the RG!! LOL WHere did you pick them up from?? They are awesome, but PRICEY!!
🤣 You tell no lie. Check them out on Amazon. That's the cheapest place I found.
How much ???
How did you do the fuel set up?
What do you mean?
@@MichaelBertini gas light is constantly blinking while riding
@@omarcastillo3801 your gas light is constantly blinking while riding?
Question. Just installed these on my 2021 road glide cvo. The distance to empty is showing zero even though the tank is half way full. Will it reset on its own once I fill up the tank up? Or do I have to do something to it
Mine reset at a fill up. So you shouldn't have to do anything. 😬🤘🏼
Sir ?
I have an amp on my ultra.
I have seen where it needs to be moved, others say I need to loosen the bolts and slide it.
What is the truth?
Thank you
Depending on the mount you have you can loosen the screws and slide it towards you. But I have seen one mount that you can't do that. Either way, worst case just unscrew it completely and move it out of the way. 😬
@@MichaelBertini thank you.
@@RafaelJimenez-hz9gu You're welcome 😬🤘🏼
What about setting the mileage so the title isn't messed up.
You have 100 miles to set that up, Bill. If for whatever reason you forget to set it up, just contact Dakota Digital and they can do it for you. 😬🤘🏼
So what happens with miles? Does it transfer over or does the bike become true mileage unknown if it's 0?
was wondering same thing so I went to their site. Dakota Digital Instrument systems are shipped from the factory with "0" miles on the odometer. Odometer can be set by the installer multiple times within the first 100 miles of driving. In the event of an error or oversight, the odometer reading can be corrected at the factory for a charge of $20 (plus shipping). Please contact Dakota Digital to arrange this service
Jesse, the installer needs to set the miles on it but it does give you the option to do it. 😬👍🏼
