Someone once told me something interesting..."What's the difference between a good golfer and a bad golfer?....A good golfer plays less bad shots". I have the problem of forcing it just like you showed examples of and this is what I need to stop. Great video as usual David!
Keep your swing within yourself and find what works for you
I'm just sitting here impressed by the ability to hit all the example shots perfectly haha.
Thank you, see the shot play the shot, good or bad😁
I think if we're a golfer who is trying to break 90 we probably know what it is that's costing us shots. The problem is the correction. We aren't trying to hit bad shots. They just happen. If you're at that level maybe the bad shots are a little less often, but they happen, and it's frustrating. To the point of @bobking..."How to break 90" seems to be ...don't hit bad shots. Ok...got it.
The idea behind d my 12 shots of golf and How to break 90 videos are to show you what’s really required to play to that level.
Golf is taught about creating perfect swings and we know that’s hard to achieve. The videos show you through the data I have developed what you need to achieve. The golfers I have worked with on this idea have seen dramatic improvements as it gets a golfers expectation in line with their level, and reduces pressure on them.
Please use the data in my lessons and hopefully you’ll see that improvement as well
I mean, there comes an intersection of: you don't have the skill in your bag to achieve breaking 90 regardless. If you are going for the safe/good shot and still hitting mistake/bad shots then you need to get more work in at the practice area. This is more about, take a safe shot vs going for the PGA shot that you can't achieve yet.
Great video, thanks! I like this idea to 'price-check' ambitious shots before playing them. It might just be the way to hold myself back on occasion. Actually, you didn't cover my main error from 180 yards. I have the distance to reach the green from my drive, but not tight enough dispersion. What would you say we're losing from the rough, right or left of the green? It's clearly harder than 40 yards on from a fairway lie at the front (though equal cost if you can chip on). How do we factor in that it gives an easier look at par if it works out? 🤔
But then, take last week, when my lob over the greenside bunker dropped straight in and I Hitlered it...
What price should tell myself to stop taking out the longer irons so much?
Putting it in the rough costs you about 0.5 of a shot, than if you are playing from the fairway, due to fact you lose clean contact on the ball
The takeaway from this seems to be "don't hit a bad shot trying to hit a really good shot"
I hope that’s your intention for every shot, each time you play a shot it’s an opportunity to hit your best shot
Don't play shots that you don't have in the bag. It can affect us lower handicappers as well.
Forget the par of hole, play personal par, like he is saying here. If trying to break 90 or 80
Play to your capabilities, keep expectations in line, the data is the average if you wish to break 90
This video can be much shorter……”Work on your short game. Thank you.”
As with most golfers all areas need to be worked on!!!!
