- Today we durability test the worlds most powerful gaming smartphone, the ROG phone 7 Ultimate. Consistently considered the worlds best gaming phone - and also the most expensive. This year the ROG phone 7 Ultimate has a motorized exhaust port, which should make the thermal cooling system almost 200% more efficient. Hopefully this ROG phone 7 ultimate does better on the durability test than last years phone… or the year before that… Since both of the Previous generations of the ROG Phone lineup have done pretty terrible from a durability perspective.

It's like every company has specifically tested bending only so that they don't snap in half in Zack's durability test. Doesn't matter whether the back shatters or the phone becomes flimsy, as long as it 'survives'.
I'm cool with that. The premise of this test is to see if the phone will break if you sit on it by applying an more extreme version of that force. If the ROG phone can survive what Zach did, it is unlikely to even bend when you sit on it. And if it does... well, you can unbend it by hand.
Structural integrity is still important. If the phone survives the bend test, then it will probably be strong enough to survive drops without damage to the internals

Lol you and I know how pointless his "durability" test his. At least 90% of people are breaking their phones by dropping it, yet he only choses to bend it instead. Not only that, but there is absolutely no consistency and transparency in that test. There's no way he can apply the same pressure on every phone.
It's just a gimmick, nothing else and companies don't care about that.
@@MrArcticPOWER all the gorilla glasses etc while bringing some improvement in screen strength, are not strong enough to survive a drop at a bad angle regardless.... so it would prove nothing. just that the glass is in fact, glass. now tell me which test is pointless?

The fan isn't the only way to open that door. You can also open it using armory crate in the fan settings there are the 3 dots on the top right with a maintenance option to open the port for cleaning

Manufacturers are absolutely taking guys like zack into account now. Having your phone snap in half was acceptable when you had 3 other options. Nowadays, with how competitive the market has become, you can't let your flagships bend in half after somebody puts it in their back pocket and does a squat 😂

Even with the air vent being thinner than the rest of the phone, it still managed to survive! Impressive!
Turns out the flame test is helpful, as most may know excessive use of some phones will leave light-induced wear in the coating between the glass and pixels which are visible especially when you display a pure white screen.

I have the ROG Phone 6. I like it, and it runs games really well. However, I don't want to carry around an external cooler. This phone can get REALLY hot when I'm playing higher graphic games, and personally I almost wish I had just bought the Redmagic gaming phone that has an exhaust fan *inside* the phone. The aeroactive cooler is neat, but so impractical, especially since you have to remove your regular case to put it on. If gaming phones are going to catch on, they're going to need to be more appealing as actually good & practical phones.
I have the rog phone 6 ultimate, it's great and I love it a lot but the thing is it's the same gripe that you have when I'm playing dead cells at 165 fps I want to have a cool phone but you just don't get that on the ROG phone 6
Until you realise that, fan inside the phone gonna be one hell of a dust nightmare

1:25 there's the Cleaning mode in the Armory Crate menu that opens the exhaust port without needing the fan (so you can clean it)

That's an interestingly shaped SIM removal tool... tool being the operative word. Definitely well designed for poking into holes!
I think you should build a mechanical bending system with a force gauge to show us the actual force applied while the bend test. also, the secondary 2-inch screen deserves your signatory scratch test. 😎

You can open the flap to clean it in the settings and to calibrate it. Mine arrived wobbly, fine after calibration.

I would love to se you add a water resistance test, one problem i had with the ROG4 was it died in my pocket while walking home in the rain. i think its an important feature in modern times.

I have an ROG Phone 5 base model and I like it. I have not snapped it in half, but i did have to have it fixed for non-functioning SIM card after dropping it a little rougher one time.
No external damage to the phone, but the sim sensors were knocked out of position.
a year later, same thing happened again, but this time the vibration mechanism got dislodged. first it still worked, but created noise on the botom speaker. after a while it stopped working all together.
still a good phone and I'm certainly not gonna cash out the absurd amount of money to update to a new model yet, but it's good to know that they are making them a bit more rigid and resistant,
The things i would do to have this phone and to watch him absolutely decimate it kills me inside.

You can open the port in the amoury crate app to clean it 😂but it's fun to see you either breaking things or even accidentally trying to break things
the only thing I hate about this durability test is the sound of metal being scraped I need to turn on subtitles and lower the volume every-time 🤦🏻♂️ but the rest are great! honest review keep it up! I only hope you can do something about the sound tho.. I bet most people hates it as well

@@MrArcticPOWER just about every other tech company backs their product to the point of warranty. Asus is out here exploding ppls mobos and CPUs with their own beta bios that they* put out and saying they won't honor their warranty. It's insanity.

it's because it comes out of the box with 512 GB of storage as its base. The Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro Max costs the same, if not more, with that storage config
@@nerovanguard846 yeah true ,it comes with the fastest RAM and 16gb of it, also an overclocked Snapdragon 8 gen 2 massive battery and so on. I think the price is fine for what it is since theres no phone yet that could compete with it.
