    Hi Simon. I will have to check my stock list but I don't think that I have a 9F. Nice loco's though. Godd luck.

      There are plenty about. Cost around £90. Just got to check the photos to see how manky the wheels are and the traction tyres. The body is wrong but who cares?

    Hi Simon! I've always loved a 9F! The Evening Star was one of the first OO models I got as a birthday present when I was as a kid! I was then lucky enough to be a passenger on a train pulled by the real thing a few years later! I'm not sure one would be able to navigate Shelfington with all of those wheels, but I'll probably end up with one in N gauge at some point! They both make great additions to your Minitrix fleet! All the best, Ian.

      Hello Ian. The Minitrix 9f has a lot of sideways play in it's wheels and will go round a radius 1 curve. Really. The Dapol version has the flanges missing from the centre wheels as it should be. It's a more accurate model but then it's a Dapol so you can forget getting any spares for it!!!

    You must be an artist. These N gauge sets are brilliant.
    The backdrop and perspective of the model trees etc are brilliant.
    Loved your video. Well done. 🚂👌👍

      Hi Mike, the back scene is printed. I made a mistake and bought a self adhesive one and it's peeling away now in places. I'm going to have to glue it back on some how. Trees are mostly ready made except for the seafoam which I had never done before. I watched a lot of videos on how to make them.
      I've had a few failures along the way and half hearted goes at a layout before I did this one. This time with the aid of youtube I was able to research better and make less mistakes. Thanks for watching.

    Hi Simon, they are good looking engines even if they maybe inaccurate. The blend perfectly into model railway that you have created👌👌
    Never fully understood why they aren't allowed onto the mainline given their capability.
    Have a great week!!

      They look fine to me David evewn though they aren't right. Minitrix took many short cuts on their models. But it does mean a good avaiability of spares as even the new German stuff they make is identical to the the 70's and 80's. I'll take spare parts over accuracy.

    Wow!!! They're great, and they live up to their pulling capacity in real life as well!!!! Who cares if they are slightly different? (Will that get drummed out of the n-guage on a shelf subscribers group?). They look magnificent, and the film across them at the station, to the countryside beyond is really realistic!!! That's cheered me up no end!!!!

      I do love them despite being so inaccurate. They always said you could tell when it was a freight driver who was driving your passenger train. To start off 2100 tons you back all the trucks up into the brake van to make the couplings hang slack. Then pull away slowly adding one truck at a time to the load. The freight drivers did the same with the coaches. It's surprising the stuff you can learn off the internet!

    Minitrix 9Fs alongside other minitrix engines have a lot of character

    Hi Simon, I love to see those connecting rods flying round. Any plans for a sound track? Ron

      @ngaugeonashelf4417  Год назад

      Hello Ron, I have considered doing a steam sound track. If you want to know how it's done properly then check a youtube channel called 'mouldy raspberry' who does all of the sound effects perfectly. I could not match any of what he does.

    • @ParkinsonsWalks

      Just a general background railway sound track would do don't you think? No doubt you will want something more technical knowing you. Take care. Ron

      @@ParkinsonsWalks I certainly don't have time to do a professional job like Mouldy Raspberry. I don't know if you watched one or not but he has all the sounds.

    I've got two. They are great runners. One I bought had lost it's front buffer beam, so for about £2 I bought some buffers, and it looks much better than the other one without the thick red beam and front steps?

    • @ngaugeonashelf4417
      @ngaugeonashelf4417  Год назад +1

      I bought these a long time ago. The great thing is they will go round a radius 1 curve. All I had to do is give them a lube and they were away despite being boxed for 20 odd years.

    • @black5f
      @black5f 11 месяцев назад

      @@ngaugeonashelf4417 I was thinking of getting a non runner just to muck about with the possibility of angling the cylinders to improve the looks. The Dapol version is very pretty, but I have yet to find one that has round wheels and runs without rocking from side to side? I bought a Dapol Ivatt 2-6-2, not cheap, very pretty, very detailed. But the motor is total rubbish? So I replaced it with a Tramfabriek and it was transformed. But it still runs like it's about to tip over. Dapol seem to have an issue with concentric wheels? Being mainly O gauge this annoys me a lot and when I see a Minitrix Ivatt I will snap it up. I am very prepared to forgive detail compromises for good running. So I have two 9f's, they are not perfect but from 2 feet away and old eyes, they look fine, run smooth and perfect, no rock and roll, will pull anything and last forever.
      I tend to re motor a lot, especially old Grafar where the old 3 and 5 poles are losing their magnetism, worn brushes etc. It's well worth it if you have the patience and some 3.5 reading glasses! I did 2 8fs, there are two different versions, the later one looks much better. If you want a good buy, the Grafar tender powered Scott, Jubillee and the tender powered Black 5 are really very nice models and run really well. They changed my view of N gauge, they are very detailed. AGR in Leighton Buzzard have a really good stock of tested locos, I got a tested Jube for £75 no quibbles if it didn't work, its beautiful. It does make my Peco Jube look a bit crude ... but that will pull anything as well, and just turned 41.
      Love your layout and love your videos. A lot of inspiration for me to get my bum in gear.
