One of the best kept secrets of the greatest rock band ever. So underrated too. JPJ is a legend.

I met him outside a seasick Steve gig for a quick pic and chat. A genuinely lovely guy who took the time to say hello

  • @JeannieTarantola-r2k

The guy made his money and fame still down to earth and seems to get his pleasure from making music with up and comers . Using his money connections and influence in a quiet way. I listened to an interview that was about mandalins. Probably 30 minutes of his love for the instrument and playing anywhere he can in front of 100 people. Every time I come across an interview with him I watch it.

I will admit here that Jones inspired me to compose more adventerously , and I found out led zeppelin was a much more exciting group because of his fantastic work- so thanks Paul for being like everyone else says the nicest and best hard rock bass player of all time

Seems like a very likable guy, someone who'd be great to hang with. I feel the same way about music as he does: it doesn't REALLY matter what kind as long as I'm making it.

i agree with everything u say about JPJ however,
im sure "achilles" was a page creation, i even heard dialog of page explaining the strange idea of the song & JPJ questioning him if it was even possible to put it together due to its complexity.
JPJ was just as talented as the other 3,if not the most.
NOW THATS AN AMAZING THING to say, concidering who the other 3 are

"I found out they're all Zepplin fans". I wonder if Mr Jones knows how far out of this galaxy he'd have to travel to find people who aren't. Maybe it's better he doesn't know

Someone who knows, PLEASE explain that notation he talks about at 2:15 for black dog I’m so curious

    • @Nileppez
      @Nileppez 3 года назад +1

My first thought was that 1-7 equal the notes so in the key of C: 1 =C, 2=D, 3=E, etc. Key of E: 1=E, 2=F, etc. If the note is sharp, use + and if it's flat use -
So in the key of A major an F sharp (6th in the A major scale) would be 6+. I don't know if this is right though because in the key of A the F is always sharp unless otherwise notated. Same goes with C and G. I won't explain the Circle of Fifths and all that because I'm assuming you're already familiar... That is if you even see this 9 months later.
An easier way to do what JPJ is talking about which would make more sense if this system was for riffs/lines like in Black Dog would be to forget about the key altogether. Then C {I'm assuming) always = 1 and D always = 2 etc. C sharp would = C+ and D flat would = D-.
      Major Keys: C [No sharps or flats] G D A E B F+ C+ [1 - 7 sharps G = 1 & C+ = 7] F B- E- A- D- G- C- [1 - 7 flats F = 1 & C- = 7]
I hope that makes sense. It's a pretty bad explanation of two possibilities, both of which are most likely wrong, but you've got me curious now so if I find out a definitive answer then I'll edit my reply.

Elixir I hate You. LOL Oh man he is right if you are sticking it isn't working. I have used DHS, Ernie Balls, Martins. Then I bought a set of Elixir acoustic strings. Well now I am a Elixir customer I am glad they last awhile because they are expensive but worth every penny. And John Paul Jones yeah my reason for starting guitar Bass first then on to Guitar. It's been a journey I am glad I took on.

Disc? Some of us like Analog better. I guess that's why vinyl is back. Some musicians are still stuck in the 90s with all due respect of jpj of course.
