How to Replace Valve Cover Gaskets 2011-2018 Ram 1500

This video shows you how to install a new set of valve cover gaskets on your 2011-2018 Ram 1500. Valve covers will begin to leak oil when the seals eventually break down. A new valve cover gasket set will make sure the oil stays inside the engine where it belongs!
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:

I see why the video is for the passenger side. That's the easy one. A video for the driver's side would take three hours and his arms probably wouldn't fit in the many tiny little spaces.

For the drivers side just get the booster and battery out of the way. The Drivers side becomes ALMOST as easy as the passenger. I’ve done the valve cover gaskets on 3 of these trucks and it makes it sooo much easier!

I just did my drivers side valve cover gasket on my 16 ram 1500. Took me 4 hrs! What a nightmare lol. Yes you can remove it without taking anything off other than the coils and injector plugs but putting it back on is the problem. The gasket gets pushed out while trying to wedge the cover back on so what helps is removing the brake booster bolts on the left side and loosening the ones on the right side and that will give you enough room to move it about a 1/2” to the side. I also moved the dip stick tube over it’s just held on by 1 nut. Also I’d use whatever product is recommended to “glue” the gasket in place so it doesn’t come out when trying to get the cover back on.

That was the easy side. Unfortunately I was trying to see if there were some tips for the driver's side valve cover.

This is no good. This is the easy side. How do you get around the steering master cylinder being in the way on the driver’s side?

The dealership wants a $1,000 to do both sides 😩 well at least you'll save 500 dollars by doing the easy side

I completed the drivers side, pretty quickly by taking the air intake and alternator out!

I would have used air to blow the loose dust and dirt off then wiped it down before taking the cover off

Broken exhaust manifold studs, water leaks inside the cab, & now leaking valve cover gaskets ... all before 100k miles is on the clock. Yeah, wonder if I'll buy another Ram 🤨....
