It’s not *JUST* his voice, yes his voice is awesome, but we HAVE TO give credit to the brass & strings (among the rest of the band) that gives us that old amazing flavor as well.
I'm an Aussie living in NZ and I'd never heard of the Teskey Brothers until I saw them as a support act to Cold Chisel at Glenelg in Jan 2020. I was in the front row (the only place to be at a Chisel gig), hanging onto the barricade and I stayed in that spot for at least 8 hours. The Teskey Brothers came on stage and just seconds into their first song I was blown away by them - they are brilliant. I bought 2 CDs from the Merch stand after the show - can't believe I'd never heard of such a talented band before, Their music gives me goosebumps!
Last Tuesday (12 December) I saw The Teskey Brothers for the second time. This time they were in Christchurch, New Zealand and once again I was in the front row, centre stage and wowwwwwwwwwww what a concert. Josh's voice is really something else. Every song was just perfect and one of the many highlights of a fabulous night was when the audience joined Josh singing a 9 minute version of 'Hold Me'. I hope I don't have to wait another 4 years to see The Teskey Brothers again.
And God looked down from the heavans and said his children have been without Otis for too long, and he blessed the WORLD with Josh Teskey............pretty sure about that. Great reaction, TY.
My wife and I saw these guys live a week ago. His voice is such an instrument in its own right. We absolutely love everything they do. Such an amazing group of people.
Awesome this band from Melbourne Australia have been doing the hard yards locally and even recorded their first album inside their house. Now signed and bringing their R&B sound to the world. They using the horns in their music which just enhances that sound
I’m old school. I love this genre of music. Soulful - deep- heartfelt. Soul music is my favorite. Soul is colorless yet I admit we all want to sing this way if u feel it in your bones. Nonetheless it is soul and blacks own it. My boy bought a few shares in the mix. Get it white boy #musicbringsustogether
Watching you watch this is very emotional. Your description of his not being able to hit notes adding to his soul his so true from a lay person's pov. I've never thought of it like that but it's so true
1st time I've seen someone on RUclips give a true detailed break down of Josh Teskey's vocal nuances and technique especially at 4:20 where you mention his voice cracking and at 5:04 where you said that the notes he can't hit that well, add to his soulfulness too. 5:56 Feel he's a mix of Otis Redding & Joe Cocker, the latter especially with his Raptor/T-Rex r/hand movement he has going there lol, he's definitely got them throwback Blues/Soul vocals and the band especially the horn section is firreee. Hopefully you'll check out more of their music, similar song in terms of feel to this is _"Pain & Misery"_ and there's a upbeat song called _"Hold Me - Live at Forum"_ would be the best to check out, crowd gets involved in that one. Thanks for reacting to these boys from Australia :). EDIT: The correct spelling for your title and caption is TESKEY, you’re missing an “E” between K & Y ☺️.
Dude I love your reactions lol 😂 “oh…. Oh… we’re singer singers?” Lol or when you pause it and sing the exact notes lol I do that too when I hear a good part, I gotta rewind lol
I'm from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 and got to know The Teskey brothers thru yr channel (song with Delta). New fan - looking forward to getting to hear more from them 😍😍
A wonderful mixture of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Otis Redding, and Sam Cooke. Gotta love The Teskey Brothers. Will be seeing them in 2 days in Austin, TX. 🙌🏾🙏🏾
LOVE watching you react to this video. And I agree with you -- it's the raspiness and the vocal cracks that make it SO great. I'm a big blues fan, and he reminds me a bit of Otis Redding.
Another Aussie bud...got Barnsey and family , Farnsey..Diesel , Sebastian, theses guys my new listen too , 3 barbeques since lock down, both my daughter's and friends flow with these guys
Good news: they've successfully merged the DNA of Otis Redding and Joe Cocker. His name is Josh Teskey and he destroys me everytime I hear this incredible track. 🔥
Hey bro thanks for another awesome reaction. Im a subscriber from Australia and would be great if you can react to who we call the voice from down under. His name is john Farnham and his vocals are phenomenal. Check out “Help” live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra
I have just fallen upon this amazing song. I have since watched reaction videos to it. All black men and women. 7 videos reacting to this amazing song. NOT ONE OF THEM got the otis redding connection. I'm not racist at all. My children are mixed race, but the fact this is the 7th reaction video I've watched, and they didn't even get otis stunnes me. By the way, I'm white, 52 and full off soul, blues. These kids critiquing singers and they don't even know otis shocks and disappoints me
You should listen to the teskey brothers singing pain and misery or get back to the land featuring Emma Donovan, or louisa or HD me and so many others all brilliant
Otis Redding has been reincarnated as a White Australian.
💯💯💯
Lol Otis had a baby with Joe Cocker and named him Josh Teskey 😂
@@candiland1007 That is priceless, my friend!
💯💯💯
💯 on point
It’s not *JUST* his voice, yes his voice is awesome, but we HAVE TO give credit to the brass & strings (among the rest of the band) that gives us that old amazing flavor as well.
Yes that complements his voice and gives it that ole soul music feeling!
Abso-bloody-lutely!

A lot of soul in that song
Ya feel Otis singing from above through this amazing body. 😉
Omgosh absolutely pure soul from Lisa a lyme and autoimmune warrior 🦠💚🙏
He’s teamed up with Ash Grunwald who’s one of my favourite current Australian singers, guitarists and entertainers, well worth a look

otis redding. it's otis redding. you're thinking of otis redding. Otis taught the world how it was done. this young man understood the assignment.
You could listen to the same song live at the arias to see the whole band doing this song live, yea!
Great reaction, thanks matey
Huge similarities to I've Been Loving You Too Long (To Stop Now) ---- Otis Redding
Exactly what I deduced🙏🏽
Otis redding thease arms of mine
Think , Otis Redding.
That's the one!
Reminds me more of Same Cooke. Like "A Change is Going to Come". But, nobody has a better voice the Sam Cookie to me. The GOAT!
Obviously not the meaning of the song.. but the pacing. Especially the the first part of the song.
I'm melting though this
Cannot wait to see these guys in Jan 22, with a 45 piece orchestra
Just fantastic!
Real skills omg
He sounds like Otis Redding and the kings of Leon singer… I am floored..😍😩
Wonderful musician and singer. He sounds like he could be a relation of the soulful legend Sam Cooke.
this is musical medicine for the soul
Reminds me of some of Paolo Nutini songs. Was a Paolo fan. Now a newly Tesky Brothers fan.
Another Aussie bud...got Barnsey and family , Farnsey..Diesel , Sebastian, theses guys my new listen too , 3 barbeques since lock down, both my daughter's and friends flow with these guys

Otis Redding…”these arms of mine” vibes for sure!
Love this man’s voice amazing!
"Oh we're singer singers?" Hahaha!!!!
You had the same reaction I did. I love it
Otis Redding with a little Ray Charles in the way he ends some of his runs. Man that's that STANK FACE type stuff.
So Thor smuggled away the "Soul" Stone, awesome xD
Oh my!!!
Try" Hold Me" by the Teskey Brohers. You will love it. Love your honesty

It's a combination of the vocal range and feel Otis Redding and the grit of Wilson Pickett.
The song sounds just like Al Green lay your head on my pillow.
Hold me .. one of their best
Otis Redding vibes
When In first heard this, I was asked who I thought it was. I had it down as either Otis Redding or Sam Cooke.
If Otis Redding and Thor had a love child.
Him and teddy swims need to collab
Ottis would be proud
A bit of David Ruffin in there too!
Got that Teddy Pentagrass soul going on.
You said, "he sounds like somebody from the day..." Its the big man Otis Redding
Listen to Pain and Misery by the Teskey Brothers.. Omg, there awesome!! ❤❤❤❤
