You missed the touhou references. The structure of Undertale's story: A bunch of monsters get driven underground, is very similar to the backstory of touhou 11 where a bunch of oni and youkai were driven underground. Flowey's bullet patterns are also really similar to the bossfight Marisa Kirisame. There are others but I don't want to go on forever x3
Mind if I contribute some more additions? 1. Dogsong is possibly inspired by the Homestuck songs "Walls Covered in Blood" and "Nepeta's Theme". Both use the Mario Paint cat sound effect, and the former sounds almost exactly like it was written in Mario Paint. Toby Fox composed both songs, as well. 2. The Temmie race is named after the game's artist, Temmie "Tuyoki" Chang. According to Temmie's tumblr account, she based their appearance off of a doodle somebody made for her without knowing what she looked like; Temmie adopted the design as her mascot, and they're used to represent her in Undertale, like how the Annoying Dog represents Toby.

Also, in the battle with Undyne on Neutral or Pacifist playthroughs, one of the things that will appear in the flavor text box says "Undyne heroically points toward the sky" which could be a reference to Kamina from Gurren Lagann, as he is often depicted making the same pose.

Toby Fox has some self-referential references, too. Flowey's laugh comes directly frome a Homestuck song he worked on 2 months before the Undertale demo was released. The Amalgamates take their names from enemies in the Halloween Hack.
Ness calls Dad: Calling your dad gives you DETERMINATION Lucas talks to a frog: Knowing that the frog takes good care of your data, gives you DETERMINATION
I think it's pretty well-known by now that Toby used the Final Fantasy VI, Earthbound and Chrono Trigger soundfonts in a few songs. "But The Earth Refused to Die"'s title is also a reference to the unique game over for Lavos in Chrono Trigger, "But... the future refused to change."
Death by Glamour is based of one of Toby's own creations, Noisemaster's Theme from Cucumber Quest. It also along with Core, Another Medium and Waterfall is based of an unfinished Homestuck song by Toby called Patient, which was meant to be a counterpart to and remix of Doctor(a Homestuck song by George Bunzinkai, Micheal Vallejo and Clark Powell) . Doctor is also inspired by Moonsong from Cavestory (I don't know the artist).
Napstablook and Dummy's themes could've been inspired by Pepper Steak from the OFF soundtrack. Also, the Flowey boss fight could've been inspired by Cyriak because the boss fight has a lot of images animated in an unsettling way, similar to Cyriak's work.
+Seesamu Caik Photoshop Flowey is a pretty clear reference to the Evacanneer DOOM fight in Ketsui ~Kizuna Jigoku Tachi~. Besides the fact that a shmup boss would probably take a lot of elements from one of the most popular shmup games, the missiles Flowey uses are similar to those used in the DOOM fight, and Your Best Nightmare is very similar to NO REMORSE from Ketsui... also, Ketsui is Japanese for determination. If that ain't enough to make it a pretty clear reference, idk what is.
There's also the fact that Hotland is a direct rip of the Land of Heat and Clockwork from Homestuck. Also, the Pyrope, a rope on fire, references Terezi Pyrope, a Homestuck character that loves hanging people with rope and has a crush on a character in the Land of Heat and Clockwork.
Looking into Homestuck would be very relevant. Homestuck, like Undertale, happens in a world inside a game, where the game mechanics become relevant plot elements.
"Living With Determination" on the True Lab. Fucking hell, Toby. If that is not some bizarre coincidence, how did you even think of that off the top of your head for the game?
The ruins looks reminiscent of Derse Judgement hall looks reminiscent prospit Waterfall is like VERY SIMULAR LOWAS The core and hotland looks VERY SIMULAR to LOHACW Another medium is a reference to the medium
@@internalscreaming9538 You do realize, that she means she hasn't played the game, but after watching so many undertale videos, she has experienced the 3 or 5 endings via media. She doesn't actually mean that she played the game. It's not so hard to realize that.
The hell nobody realize Touhou 11 SA all almost similiar to UT?? -_- and mostly some of Touhou music as well. Just soo we know I guess UT was combination to all games hmm..
I'd like to add in that it's possible that the first encounter with Napstablook could be inspired by the game OFF, where the main character is fighting ghosts (spectres) and the main battle theme sounds very swing-like, much like Napstablook's.
I was just expecting "earthbound" "earthbound" "earthbound" x100 But honestly, I was going to check out earthbound, but everything in it looks creepy as hell.
Kate The KitKat Cat [Kate Kittens] at a glance, Earthbound seems like a kids game. But things like, NK cyborg. Giygas. And lots more, would grant eternal nightmares for kids.
Well, when you think about it, this game draws *heavy* inspiration to Touhou, doesn't it? In both games, The monster race (or "Youkai", as the Touhou games calls it) are driven to a sealed place where no one, in theory, could cross to either side because the Human race made them almost extinct. The fights on both games are in Bullet hell style (or variants thereof), in which the style of their bullets and shots depends on the persons. The boss monsters are all humanoid in looks, similar to how all youkais in Touhou are humanoid. The main character are both human, and eventually befriends the characters in the games. I haven't even getting into the character connections and some music ideas, but you get the idea.
Not to mention this: Toriel wants to protect the fallen children by letting them stay in the Ruins, and sealing the Ruin’s door. What does Keine Kamishirasawa do during the Imperishable Night incident? Protecting the humans in the Human Village by concealing the Human Village in history.
I'm honestly disappointed that nobody has managed to notice the similarities to P-Body and Atlas that Papyrus and Sans have. Their colors and height match perfectly. How the hell am I the only one to call this out so far?
+Juan Gomez Does Flowey do that? The player's the one resetting, and once Frisk falls down I thought Flowey lost the power to reset until taking the human souls? He says as much at some point.
Juan Gomez Yeah but then when Frisk falls down, Flowey loses the power to do that because now Frisk/Chara/whatever is doing it. That's what I was referring to, Flowey has never reset to be able to play with Frisk or chara more times, although he seems to retain memory from the resets the player makes. But Flowey does WANT the power to do that, which is why he takes the human souls. Among other power-hungry reasons.
I got this from the actual page of Undertale in Wikipedia. Source is from here; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undertale#Development Basically, it's all about the talking system in Undertale, like the interaction and dialogue. I'll spare you with more details that will babble out of my mouth. *In an interview with The Escapist, Fox listed off inspirations for the game: "The talking system came from Shin Megami Tensei. I feel that it's important to make every monster feel like an individual. If you think about it basically all monsters in RPGs like Final Fantasy are the same, save for the graphics. They attack you, you heal, you attack them, they die. There's no meaning to that."*
Here's some additional references. If you pay careful attention to bullet patterns in Undertale you'll see similarities to touhou boss bullet patterns. For Example, King Asgore's bullet patterns share a striking resemblance to Patchouli Knowledge(Touhou 6: Stage 4). Another matching bullet patterns is Yuyuko (Touhou 7: Final Boss) with Flower's Bullet patterns and even Asriel Dreemurr's bullet patterns. Toby Fox did mention Touhou was also an inspiration for the game.
that's probably NOT a reference, but it's something i noticed, at 17:02 the "persona 3" music has the phrase: "living with determination", that maybe it's connected with the fact that the monsters in the true lab are deformed living with determination injected in their bodies.
+Ademar N judging how Toby worked with Hussie on a bunch of stuff, and how much Hussie loves throwing in convoluted references, and how many of said convoluted references are in undertale, i'm judging that that was intentional.
+Ademar N Also: "Here We Are" is a re-working of Alphys's theme. Her theme is a brighter, chirpier version of the song. It also has more of the chiptune style he uses for things that are "hiding" something compared to a more natural. (eg. "Your Best Friend" vs. "Your Best Nightmare" or "Hopes and Dreams") Reflecting Alphys's attempt at "living with determination" by hiding it's effects in her lab.
There is one obvious reference in Muffet's parlor, if you "interact" with the croissant, it'll say "*It looks like some sort of power bracelet" a reference to the original Legend of Zelda on NES, with both the croissant and the power bracelet have similar sprite designs
What about the Spider Croissants on Muffet's table? Could it be a reference to the original Legend of Zelda as examining it gives the player a message of mistaking it for a Power Band? Because a Power Band exists in the Legend of Zelda that is similar in shape, and can be viewed as a croissant.
When i heard megalovania in undertale it struck me. I had heard it before. And it scared me a bit. Shook me a bit. After i beat sans it hit me. Homestuck. I laughed my ass off
The annoying dog is also probably an Earthbound reference, as there was also a dog (named Ruffini) in EB that was "possessed by the spirit of the game dev." In addition, Mt Ebott is a potential Mother reference. Mother had a mountain called Mt. Itoi, named after Shigesato Itoi, the creator of the game. "Ebott" is just "Toby" pronounced backwards.
I feel like this dude deserves more subs because of his formality. Like, this is very well done video. Not just one of those "top 10" list you seen thown around with everything spoken in on screen captions
Here's a reference that I have noticed. When you spare Papyrus, he says: "You must be shacking in your boots! Right before you enter Twoson, I'm sorry I spelled it wrong, The officers best you up for traspassing in the caves. One of the Officers say : You must be shacking in your boots!
I like to think that Frisk landing on a bed of flowers after falling into the underground is a reference to when Cloud lands on Aerith’s flower bed in the church in the Midgar Slums after falling from the Mako Reactor in Final Fantasy VII.
It could just be a coincidence, but I think that Flowey (particularly his boss fight) has a lot of references to Marx from Kirby Super Star. Even the vibes of the characters (cute traitors) are similar. Plus, Jevil from Deltarune seems to be influenced by Marx, or maybe Dimentio from Super Paper Mario.
In Earthbound there is a dog in Onett named Ruffini who says he has been possessed by a developer. I think this is more likely to be the inspiration for the Annoying Dog.
I know for a fact that Uboa was a major inspiration for W.D Gaster. You can find them almost the same way, they look the same, and plus in the halloween hack toby made, he uses the Uboa sprite (you can see it in the video)
kind of obscure and a stretch but if mew mew kissy cutie is really inspired by tokyo mew mew i think it kind of makes it funny that alphys is so into it because she was at least partly to blame for the creation of the amalgamates, which are accidental fusions of different monsters, while the girls in tokyo mew mew get their powers from being essentially fused with the dna of different animal species
+Hi, I'm 428 It's a piece from entry 17 in true labs, and can only be accessed by messing with the game files. The full version is as follows. "ENTRY NUMBER SEVENTEEN DARK DARKER YET DARKER THE DARKNESS KEEPS GROWING THE SHADOWS CUTTING DEEPER PHOTON READINGS NEGATIVE THIS NEXT EXPERIMENT SEEMS VERY VERY INTERESTING WHAT DO YOU TWO THINK?"
Actually, regarding annoying dog, the sprite is very similar to the dog note in mario paint composer. Which makes sense because dogsong was made with mario paint composer.
This could be just rumor, but I read somewhere that Toby Fox knows or at least knew Emile/Chuggaaconroy, who loves bad puns to death. Sans' jokes being specifically puns could be inspired by that. {but I could be wrong}
15:50 - The 3rd part of the Amalgamate theme also has a peculiar tone in the background that can be heard in "Giygas' Intimidation" from Earthbound. Which I reckon you sort of touch up on in your next video, the whole song is definitely inspired by Giygas' presence which you did catch.
In EarthBound, one of the Onett police officers will say "At times like this, kids like you should be playing Nintendo games" I think it's obvious what line that inspired
+Tony the Tiger I just noticed a possible reference... In the genocide mode ending when Chara is on the screen, she's fought (automatically) and she dies. Similar to the fact that in OFF in one ending you can battle The Batter and win without doing anything but using auto.
I can see a portal 2 (possible) Easter egg, blue and orange magic have similar effects on the user as the repulsion and propulsion (orange and yellow) gels
there's a character called Pyrope which is one of the homestuck character's last names there's a dog in the hotel that looks like jade harley from homestuck the hotlands is a lot like one of the places in homestuck, the land of heat and clockwork
And waterfall looks like LOWAS..... And the area before snowdin is LOFAF, right down to the frogs! The purple and yellow color pallet in both the ruins and the new home are like derse and prospit respectively! Both areas are even direct parallels to one another, the only differences being the inhabitants and the pallets!!!
funny thing that the monster called 'pyrope' lives in hotland tied up with rope, similar to Terezi's obsession with rope and the intire land is reference to LOHAC AND TEREZI LOVES DAVE SO MUCH! XD (sorry fur my bad english)
I noticed the Pyrope thing! Though notably Terezi is named after a gem called "Pyrope" which is red gemstone that according to wikipedia gets its name for the greek words for "Fire" and "Eye" so not only is it a homestuck reference, but a reference to the fact that Pyrope resides in Hotland
In snowdin's library in the blue book say " While humans are way stronger than us, They can't use magic and they will never get a Bullet-pattern birthday card" Or something like that. That could be a reference to the touhou project, Where the youkais were way stronger than the humans and to even them the shrine maiden make the Spellcards, they are cards that can realease Bullet patterns that hurt but are not lethal so that even a god could lose to a human in a fair battle.
It's also worth noting that Alphy's finds all her anime in the dump. Which means she watches literal garbage-tier anime.

If that ain't enough to make it a pretty clear reference, idk what is.
That buff horse-thing was totally inspired by Equius
Aaron?
i think it was inspired by his lusus, Aurthour.
His name is aaron
Neigh.
Ah, yes, Equius, the centaur butler
There's also the fact that Hotland is a direct rip of the Land of Heat and Clockwork from Homestuck. Also, the Pyrope, a rope on fire, references Terezi Pyrope, a Homestuck character that loves hanging people with rope and has a crush on a character in the Land of Heat and Clockwork.
you definitely have Teh bALL,, big man
omg I haven't thought of that! XD
Darkheartxx I've been called by this exact nickname throughout this year,
I guess it's good?
Ha! Then I'll call you Darki!!
Hii Darki
+the big man Pyrope also has a giant grin like Terezi :3
+Just a normal troll I have seen you all around RUclips! also, yes. Peri is a good nickname. Peridoritobae is better tho •w•
Looking into Homestuck would be very relevant. Homestuck, like Undertale, happens in a world inside a game, where the game mechanics become relevant plot elements.
He also did music for homestuck.
Yeah, Megalovania was actually in Homestuck before it was in Undertale
+Matt “Rocketman” Schmelzer Megalovania was first appear in
earthbound rom hack
(I bet you dont know earthbound!! Dont you?)
In Snowdin, there's a small dog house and if you go up to it, it says "Must be bigger on the inside." Doctor Who reference.
or it could be a charlie brown reference, to snoopy?
could be a reference to anything
It may not be a Doctor Who reference, but I absolutely love Doctor Who.
@@bananakiwi8028 that would be more likely, since it is a dog house
since it's in a snowy place it could be a reference to mario 64s igloo
"Living With Determination" on the True Lab. Fucking hell, Toby. If that is not some bizarre coincidence, how did you even think of that off the top of your head for the game?
Probably a lucky coincidence and may be why he references the song (if it's an actual reference at all).
The ruins looks reminiscent of Derse
Judgement hall looks reminiscent prospit
Waterfall is like VERY SIMULAR LOWAS
The core and hotland looks VERY SIMULAR to LOHACW
Another medium is a reference to the medium
As far as the lohac connection, Lohac is also a semi-parody of lava levels, so there will be some overlap.
i believe snowdin is also a reference to LOFAF
Psh I've watched so many Undertale videos now I have practically played all three endings multiple times without getting the game
Sophie J
Same, but I plan on getting it.
Sophie J no you have not and don’t claim you have.
@@internalscreaming9538 what she means is that shes watched so many undertale vids, she practically doesnt need to play the game.
AngelicFox Kwai no she hasn’t.
I Did.......Cause I'am a touhou fan
Undertale is basically touhou 11. Their music are extremely similar.
I'd like to add in that it's possible that the first encounter with Napstablook could be inspired by the game OFF, where the main character is fighting ghosts (spectres) and the main battle theme sounds very swing-like, much like Napstablook's.
The Baby is You. I love you if you get this reference. Toby, you can never forget.
Iona Adams hahahhahahaaha
I don't get it
IM HAVING A BABY AND THE BABY IS YOU

this is the most horrifying thing I have ever been reminded of
what about one of the enemies called _pyrope_ ? one of the homestuck characters name is terezi _pyrope_
TRUE!
Nepeta & feliciano and when two of them appear in battle at the same time it says "the rare and threatening double davis" DAVEis
Nepeta & feliciano Latula too. But I guess they're related...
Oh! I thought alphys was inspired by a Simpson!

The desire to play Earthbound
What? Did you think that I was going to say Determination? I don't do drugs!
Lucky C4t, determination is not drugs, you idiot
MCRL_Daniel 777 it was a joke
Earthbound is like my second or third favorite game.
lol earthbound is the best screw undertale
Both games are masterpieces imo. I like EB more, but I love both games.
I was just expecting
"earthbound"
"earthbound"
"earthbound" x100
But honestly, I was going to check out earthbound, but everything in it looks creepy as hell.
Kate Kittens It's awesome
Kate The KitKat Cat [Kate Kittens]
Only endgame is creepy. Other parts are mildly unsettling. Like an old Don Bluth film.
Kate The KitKat Cat [Kate Kittens] at a glance, Earthbound seems like a kids game. But things like, NK cyborg. Giygas. And lots more, would grant eternal nightmares for kids.
I was expecting touhou
Kate The KitKat Cat [Kate Kittens] ima try homestuck
+Terrabalt It's been confirmed the final boss for the pacifist route is inspired by Marisa ^^
+Terrabalt Don't forget the ZUNpets in Undyne's themes.
Plus Toby played the demos for EoSD and PCB. :P
+Terrabalt Also, Temmie Chang, one of the artists for Undertale is a fan of touhou
+Terrabalt also, don't you notice the route you walk? from snowdin all the way to hotland?
kuch kuch Subterranean Animism kuch
Toriel look like Sariel and Keine Btw im touhou fan :3
HanaJam ima start a war.
...............touhou music sucks
lmao im not alone
Toby is a touhou fan himself
Not to mention this: Toriel wants to protect the fallen children by letting them stay in the Ruins, and sealing the Ruin’s door.
What does Keine Kamishirasawa do during the Imperishable Night incident?
Protecting the humans in the Human Village by concealing the Human Village in history.
Nice Goat Ladies ain't I right @@prismus6520
imo Dating Tense! (8:20) sounds A LOT more like Investigation 2002 (Core) from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All.
In the Asriel Dreemur fight, the move "Star Blazing" should be a reference to "PK Starstorm"in Mother 3, or "PSI Starstorm" in Earthbound
Wait,nobody noticed??
Everybody noticed.
Also, it would be a reference to [Star Sign: Stardust Reverie] from Marisa of Touhou Project
Also in the ending credits, the "Flowey Battle Co-Designer" Everdraed, is a reference to the character in Earthbound, Everdred
7:51 OMG HOW AM I JUST REALIZING THAT XD I'M A FAN OF BOTH GAMES AND I'M JUST REALIZING X3
IKR!!!
I like Phonix write as well
SAME !!! xD
I'm honestly disappointed that nobody has managed to notice the similarities to P-Body and Atlas that Papyrus and Sans have.
Their colors and height match perfectly. How the hell am I the only one to call this out so far?
See? I can just blow peoples minds because nobody ever fucking thinks of it.
+YellowLine
That can be indeed true. Though that kind of shape contrast I think is a pretty common theme in cartoons, so it might be coincidental
IKR
The blue one is short, the red one is tall, the blue one is chubby, the red one is skinny
+YellowLine oooooHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica could be a reference on the design of Omega Flowey, it is similar to the witches design
Yes, I didn't think about that
+Juan Gomez
Does Flowey do that? The player's the one resetting, and once Frisk falls down I thought Flowey lost the power to reset until taking the human souls? He says as much at some point.
+MrServantRider he doesn't do that, but Flowey wants the power to do it.
Juan Ocaña Yeah, which I guess could still be a reference. =O
Among other power-hungry reasons.
its funny when he said equius zahhak and it showed is lusus xD
Irk?
my boy aurthour 😔
Temmies are kind inspired by the Mr. Saturns in the Mother series (or Earthbound in America)
Actually Temmie is based off of Temmie one of the people who helped in undertale, She made shop sprites and backrounds
+Konita Sorphaq Only the name is from Temmiy, the inspiration is from the Mr. Saturns.
+Konita Sorphaq I thought the temmies were based off of weeaboos...

I got this from the actual page of Undertale in Wikipedia. Source is from here; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undertale#Development
Basically, it's all about the talking system in Undertale, like the interaction and dialogue.
+J.A. Lalanto Quite good. Thanks for the source.
UtterSpartan No prob!
+CF Ho Its actually
Pacifist(Or true)
Neutral
And
Genocide
Baconfluff AJ OR pure genocide
I love the megalovania bit. It's like hearing it evolve over the years, just wonderful~ It gets a little more complicated in each one.
+Ezekiel Balderdash I never even noticed that Alphys' theme and "Here We Are" were the same until now.
I'm glad they said memory head looks like giygas.
11:40 What's the name of that cartoon?
+TheDarioxGamer "Mega Man". It's from the mid-90's.
+UtterSpartan I know it's from Mega Man, but what's the name of that sound effect when they discover Gutsman? xD
+TheDarioxGamer
I have no idea
We all just call it a gutsman's ass sound
in reference to...
...uhhhhhh...
...?
+TheDarioxGamer That was from the original clip, the clip in this video was taken from a YTP about Gutsman's ass.
+Ecbrd that looked like megaman
so probably megaman
I FOUND IT I FOUND SOMEONE TALKING ABOUT GHOST TRICK YAAAAAAAAAS
I KNOW RIGHT!?
OMG YES
+the__wolf ikr why isnt it more ppopular
* Ah yes, Ghost Trick, been a while since I heard that
i think thats gaster...
There is one obvious reference in Muffet's parlor, if you "interact" with the croissant, it'll say "*It looks like some sort of power bracelet" a reference to the original Legend of Zelda on NES, with both the croissant and the power bracelet have similar sprite designs
That wasn't equius, that was his lusus, lmao, also temmie village is very similar to Mr Saturn's village
kinda crazy that the name of the song from persona 3 was called "living with determination"
shaymintcg you're pic is my fave mythical from pokemon
I laughed when seeing the song title
What about the Spider Croissants on Muffet's table? Could it be a reference to the original Legend of Zelda as examining it gives the player a message of mistaking it for a Power Band?
Because a Power Band exists in the Legend of Zelda that is similar in shape, and can be viewed as a croissant.
3 endings? There's 5 endings!
True Pacifist Ending
Neutral Ending
Genocide Ending
Soulless Pacifist Ending
Dirty Hacker Ending
I don't quite get counting neutral as one ending, there are numerous outcomes that can happen depending on who you kill
Andrew Pease errrr 7?
true pacifist
pacifist
neutrual
genocide
no mercy
dirty hacker
and soulless pacifist ending
jbrothers47 No Mercy and Genocide is the same thing and True Pacifist and Pacifist are the same thing so 5.
The AntiMatter Channel Okay, but No Mercy is just another name for Genocide
No. There are three endings.
If you count all the endings that amount to nothing (most of the neutral ones) then there's like 15 endings.

After i beat sans it hit me.
Homestuck.
I laughed my ass off
I would say that Naptablook and his battle theme could be inspired by the game Off
*sans too*
It was, specifically the battle theme, peper steak
17:10 The song says 'Living with *Determination*' OMG
The part where flowey laughed at you and closes your browser might be a reference to the part where Caliborn gets in control of Homestuck
I personally like Homestuck's version of Megalovania or MeGaLoVania!
You're not alone buddy, it's my favorite out of all the other megalovanias! XD
MeGaLoVania killed Tavros :'( :'(
I'm not even at [S] "Wake." yet XD
So basically, I spoiled Homestuck for myself XD
Woah. I thought I'm the only who like MeGaLoVania most! I've made its Osu! Beatmap for it!

For someone who got into both games, it's suprising I didn't notice that considering how much I've played Earthbound and read that line
I like to think that Frisk landing on a bed of flowers after falling into the underground is a reference to when Cloud lands on Aerith’s flower bed in the church in the Midgar Slums after falling from the Mako Reactor in Final Fantasy VII.
I was waiting for the Alphys and Francis comparison...
"Well back to business."
*Hears Megalovania
Oh wait I clicked back XD
Frisk = Madotsuki???
I can actually kind of see that omigod
And gaster looks like uboa, also you can't tell me onionsan doesn't have serious yn vibes
Umm lol
I know for a fact that Uboa was a major inspiration for W.D Gaster. You can find them almost the same way, they look the same, and plus in the halloween hack toby made, he uses the Uboa sprite (you can see it in the video)
Theres an evangelion refrence in alphys library.
a comic book that shows an android (rei) running late to school with toast in her mouth
Aaron represents Equius Zahhak's guardian. Not Equius himself
kind of obscure and a stretch but if mew mew kissy cutie is really inspired by tokyo mew mew i think it kind of makes it funny that alphys is so into it because she was at least partly to blame for the creation of the amalgamates, which are accidental fusions of different monsters, while the girls in tokyo mew mew get their powers from being essentially fused with the dna of different animal species

Actually, regarding annoying dog, the sprite is very similar to the dog note in mario paint composer. Which makes sense because dogsong was made with mario paint composer.
Ah then he shows mario paint composer. Why didn't he make the connection just there?
This could be just rumor, but I read somewhere that Toby Fox knows or at least knew Emile/Chuggaaconroy, who loves bad puns to death. Sans' jokes being specifically puns could be inspired by that. {but I could be wrong}
15:50 - The 3rd part of the Amalgamate theme also has a peculiar tone in the background that can be heard in "Giygas' Intimidation" from Earthbound. Which I reckon you sort of touch up on in your next video, the whole song is definitely inspired by Giygas' presence which you did catch.
yo... that picture you used for equius... wasn't equius....

In the genocide mode ending when Chara is on the screen, she's fought (automatically) and she dies. Similar to the fact that in OFF in one ending you can battle The Batter and win without doing anything but using auto.
2003? Pretty sure OFF came out in 2009 (French only), and was later translated in 2012~
13:40 is that a jojo reference?!

there's a character called Pyrope which is one of the homestuck character's last names
there's a dog in the hotel that looks like jade harley from homestuck
the hotlands is a lot like one of the places in homestuck, the land of heat and clockwork

And waterfall looks like LOWAS..... And the area before snowdin is LOFAF, right down to the frogs! The purple and yellow color pallet in both the ruins and the new home are like derse and prospit respectively! Both areas are even direct parallels to one another, the only differences being the inhabitants and the pallets!!!
funny thing that the monster called 'pyrope' lives in hotland tied up with rope,
similar to Terezi's obsession with rope and the intire land is reference to LOHAC
AND TEREZI LOVES DAVE SO MUCH! XD
(sorry fur my bad english)
Yes it is but their is even more of 2hou references in UT, toby is a touhou fan after all
