      Bob Ross The GE 9X engine is built by a consortium of Safran Snecma (French) and GE
      It is not a wholly American Engine
      The Leap Engine on the 737 and A320 is built by the same consortium

    As an Engineer who has a part in the building of this Engine the Composites and how they are used on this Engine is pretty amazing
    That is American Ingenuity for sure

      No it's not. Rocket motors are infinitely more complicated and difficult to build. The temperatures rocket motors deal with would make this engine scream and run for the woods.

      And actually the only thing that a rocket engine has to deal with is heat! This has to wistand icing, storms, huge rain, and even birds!! It's really a lot harder than a rocket engine!

    Wow the best engine of the world. I work as Ramp Agent at Frankfurt Airport and it is the only engine that vibrates the airport ground when the engines are started. You feel the incredible power miles away.

      I am not sure, i could do the same level animation on a gaming laptop rendered in about a week... It's not that expensive nowadays...

      That kind of animation is actually super simple. The lighting isn't very complex, all animation are simple translate/rotate curves, nothing organic in the image. This is the perfect recipe how to get good looking CGI with minimal effort.

      what speed? speed of what? are you on speed? do you really think that engine does all its work at that big goofy fan? cause it doesn't. and no you can't just put a Tesla car motor in place of the turbine, and have an electric plane. at least not a 777.

      They were talking about the pressure ratio of the compressor section only (27:1) and not the entire engine core & fan. Supposedly the 9X will have an overall pressure ratio of 60:1 vs the Trent XWB's 52:1

    Don't want to start a silly RR/GE commenting nonsense but this engine looks really beautiful. Having been brought up with RR (born 5 miles from Derby) I must express my absolute disappointment with the Trent 1000 debacle. But, RR will get over it and move forward. I wish GE best of luck though.

    This is all well and good. But what I really want to know is where the heck is my GE flying toaster???? Making toast in the kitchen is so 90's. I want a toaster that can fly toast into my bedroom in the morning!
    Not sure if flying toasters is the aviation division or what. But in any case, GE, get to work!

    Sadly Rolls-Royce is probably going to go under as far as their aircraft engine manufacturing is concerned. This engine is a game changer and with all the horrible troubles that rolls Royces had with the Trent 1000 I don’t see them recovering

    Nice nice nice... I loved the current 777, was roomier than the A380, obviously I but also blame Lufthansa for their crammed seating arrangement. 787 is great, but I'd like to feel the A350

      Mohil They had them mounted and did one taxis test and GE called the engines back !! Problems !!! And Nov 2019 the 777X sits on the tarmac less the engines !!! Still waiting !!!!

    The speaker said Compressor ratio of GE9X is 27 to 1 ?...what it's low. . GE90-115B has 42.7 : 1 ..... How he said that , may be by mistake he said that ? But GE has to correct it.

    I have just one question: how much thrust in kN at sea level does it produce at max? If it's below 500 kN then I don't like it

      The GE90-115B reached 511kN, but to me over or below 500kN doesn't really matter. The size and the technology used in the GE9X is truly fascinating on the other hand.
