Beautiful machined alloy parts immaculately assembled in a hospital clean environment. Modern engineering is truly fantastic.
billcoltharp I would expect nothing less from Rolls Royce, or anyone manufacturing anything for an aircraft.
Aren't they beautiful? As beautiful as an art sculpture, but purely functional.
Finally, I've been waiting years for a DIY tutorial of a great jet engine
xD
Oh Really?
"DIY tutorial"? lol :P

All you need is only Rolls-Royce factory. It's so simple, your welcome :-)
Love how bright and shiny all their tools are. Like they've only been used a few times in their life.
Incredible video production. Having worked in turbofan engine repair and overhaul as a mechanical engineer in all of the processes shown, I am very impressed. So many tiny but crucial details shown. Retired now, but vertical stack and engine test still excite me. Well done, RR.
How much labor !! This thing IS a work of art.
The complexity of a jet engine is mind boggling. Very good video for reminding us something of what goes into this incredibly important part of what gets us into the sky and to our destination…safely!
People working in such plant is not mechanics, they are artists! Congratulations! Merry Christmas, guys!
they just assemble, no improvisation is allowed, (to be artist improvisation is required)
I'm machining a Tail Bearing Housing for this engine. It's just awesome to see this! I wish companies would take the machinists who work on these products to this location as a "field trip" to see what their years of hard work actually looks like! Would definitely deliver a turbo boost of pride to a person to see this!
beautiful
this is why the world is still here, cause of people making amazing creations like this
It's ALIVE!!!!! MONSTER ENGINE! See you in August Iberia!
thats a masterpiece of engineering!
What an extremely satisfying video
These guys basically putting the pieces together, but how did they engineer such a marvel its so amazing its mindblowing!
Incredible precision engineering and execution of assembly! What we take for granted!
Well said. 👍
I can knock you one of these up in my shed for half the price ;-) What a gorgeous piece of machinery.
Beautiful video and the factory looks cleaner and more hygienic than some of the operation theatre in some hospitals. That’s legendary rolls Royce
Engineering marvel. It's hard to believe with the state of society that we are living in the most technologically advanced age of our species.
Zerostar369 👍Thats like saying its hard to believe today is not yesterday.
I realized my thought above wasn't very clearly explained. I have edited it for context.
*WE* are living in the most advanced age, but not humans. There are still cultures/societies/countries still living in mudhuts and street shitting.
really????
Hard to believe our amazing technological progress is destroying our environment. Thanks geniuses.
Looks like a big step up from the Trent 700-900 production line. They actually seem to have thought out handling aids and jigs and fixtures. Love the transporter that takes the engine straight to hot test as well. I always feel lots of these high tech manufacturing companies could learn a lot from high volume automotive production.
I cried seeing this video...the amount of work put into it!
... yep and that's without seeing all the very high precision manufacture and assembly of the sub parts before this video where it just shows the big sections being mated up together.
Rolls-Royce turbine engines are of the highest quality without a doubt. This is a fact that can't be denied.
Simply amazing. An engineering marvel.
Awesome. I've never seen a video as satisfying as this
Perfeição absoluta !
Trent XWB is an amazing engine. If I see a RR logo on my plane's engines, I know I am on a truly reliable and awesome sounding aircraft.
@soaringtractor those were the trent 1000 not the one shown in this video
I prefer GE. Nx is better though
trent 1000?
Assembly could probably takes hours or days
But designing into perfection takes years and years
I'm working on Trent 1000, -TEN, and TXWB. By far TXWB takes the longest to build cuz the build process has more steps, more (and heavier) tooling.
Definitivamente es una maravilla de la ingeniería aeronáutica civil. Me pongo de pie ante esa máquina potente. 😃👍🏻
Their hard work keeps us safe
This video's sound is incredible. Where has RUclips been all our lives? This video is incredibly interesting, and educational and entertaining. In order to see this in day's past you would have had to go to the library, and you might find it on microfilm or film. Who knows? TV didn't have custom technology until the 1970's , and even then, it wasn't all that great.
Throw a coin in for luck.
sup tim
reddit copy pasta?
some old asian woman
and then get 5 years banned from any air travel :D
A Chinese lady threw some coins for Good luck few years ago!
Amazing complex job!!
It 's absolutely fantastic to see a technological aviation marvel being produced from the very beginning fragment by fragment...
Great to see a tutorial on the build feom scratch been trying to get a manual for my one for a while now thanks RR 😊
Amazing. Looks like a dream job.
most beautiful art in the whole universe THE TURBO FAN ENGINE
Wonder Machine all times.
As someone who does NDT on some non-critical parts in RR engines, i find this beautiful
Engine test still excites me. Well done, RR.
I live across the road from this facility and it's amazing what I see.
Thanks! This video is extremely helpful as I am trying to build my own!
engineering at its best......i cannot imagine how it will be in 50 years..
Just amazing, I've always wanted a project like that.
Engineering at its perfection.
Guys u'r awesome. Gr8 piece of technology!
Nice factory. nice attempt.nice production. Those machines are in high technology
I would love to work for Rolls Royce. Is there any prior military options? I love the aviation industry.
As a Boeing and GE lover, I will also admit that RR engines have taken me great places safely too. Thank you guys.
Nice to hear, same applies to GE AND P/W.
Humans and it's civilization you are amazing....I take a bow!
So many parts it’s amazing they are so dependable.
Très belle vidéo sur ce montage impressionnant .
Vídeo muito bom 👏👏
Was wondering..for assembly you recruit Mechanical engineers or just train any people for the job? 🤔
Hats off to the British Engineering. Absolutely breathtaking. Khalid Rashid Islamabad
It's a work of Art
@Rolls-Royce how does your quality assurance look like?
By far my most favorite sound from a modern turbofan.
A work of art
That’s how you define British Standard. Keep the good work
Such a beautiful engine!
0:50 that safety wire is so perfect 😍
yep RR still using good-old physical safety wire - it's visible and it works, although a pain for fingers in maintenance / overhaul.... watch this space for trained robot hands to do it 100% correct repeatedly one day???
...Some alternative self-locking nut solutions can end up being "not so self locking" after all, after hundreds or thousands of flights.
.. A relative worked on maintenance of civil and including corporate business/private jets - some of those private planes only fly once per week or less meaning they can be 10, 15 or even 20 years before going to big overhaul - then its nice to see the physical lock visually in place at interim inspections for sure.
you mean lock wire for bolts?
@@beetee9402 Lockwire is still preferred in military applications. And they do more inspections than civil aviation. It really helps!
This country of ours needs much more of this and not media following.
Im amazed for how fast those people work
Wow you guys are awesome 😎 I am getting aspired by you guys.
One word guys , Awesome !!
Good job bro,well done.👍
Amazing work, and some people blame me for my love to Trent.
Why haven’t I seen this before. Thank you
The sound of the XWB🤘🏻🤘🏻
Toda Una Imponente y Extraordinaria Ingenieria de Rolls Royce 👍👉💪
Ottimo ambiente, pulito, ordinato, lindo, evidenziato l'ambiente con colori, tutto chiaro, ben organizzato ,addetti ai lavori disciplinati, ordinati, seri tutto efficente OK.
Ah, I remember my first Royce and its 20,000 component aero thrust engine. Simpler times.
Hey r u Dutch🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱
@@Ppadira nope
How much time do they spend on crafting the motor ?
really amazing
Hermoso. Pagaría cualquier cosa para ir a ver esa fábrica.
It is just amazing!
At 03:13 - RR XWB engine final assembled and tested in Germany, put on a Dutch (Holland/Netherlands) NL registered truck - to transport it to Airbus.
The truck with an EU text in French language (Convoi Exceptionnel)...
How long does it take to assemble a typical RR engine?
Imagine being the truck driver for that load! Probably that engine is worth 15 million CDN, watch those bumps!!
Mitch Barredo Which is why perhaps the truck is labelled 'Convoy Exceptional'.
This is why I love insurance.
I always wanted to work in these kinds of engine assembly places, but destiny didnt make it as i wished..
only the fact that i see such a shiny floor makes me let go some tears.
I'd love to see the Ikea directions for this...
This reminds me of that time down in the back shed.. I called mine Jet Engine.. Never took off.
isso e locura, show de bola
You guys and gals are great at what you do - make me proud to be British. Rolls Royce rules!
This factory is in Germany. Not much British about it nowadays sadly
Rolls royce the defence company that makes these engines is completely british, this engine was designed first amd made at the facility in Derby. Rolls royce holdings (the defence company) has multiple production lines in other countries including the US and Germany. Dont be mistaken by this, this incredible engine was designed and made by British engineering
Excellent simplement
Amazing
Dear Rolls Royce,
PLEASE, wheres the SOUNDTRACK from?
Awsome video, i have tears in my eyes.
Use soundhound to identify the song
interesting documentation .......
That was pretty awesome how long does it take to build 1 engine?
About a month. But we are working in parallel to ensure we can deliver one XWB engine each day to Airbus to cope with the high demand for the aircraft.
so cool!
Name the music?
احسن nice 👌👌👌
At the risk of sounding like a total avgeek weirdo, the Trent XWB is a sexy engine! It's just so powerful yet refined, quiet, smooth, efficient, reliable, and beautiful. To me, it's both the physical embodiment and the definition of precision engineering and the proverbial "well-oiled machine".
It’s such an interesting industry.
How long does it take to build/assemble such an engine?
Currently studying to become an aeronautic mech. My teacher told me it takes around a couple weeks !
Fantastic.. Although thought there would be lab coats and hair nets too..
Anything can't be missed.
We do a very good job in Derby too,
Without any doubt, you do.
Is there any vacancy for aircraft maintenance engineer....
rameshrame004@gmail.com
@soaringtractor Doh, that was not the reason, you yanks couldn't make a decent engine by yourself, just google it. You needed the merlin (built under licence) for your mustangs, then you fitted to everything else you could, none came to the UK.
Eccellente 👍
Satisfying!!
I would like to ask you Rolls-Royce. Why are, inlet guide vanes for intermediate pressure compressor, wider at root ? Is this because of boundary layer thickness over surface of inner wall ? Thanks a lot for your answer.
Filip,
are you working for Chinese jet engine company, and trying to get design secrets from Rolls Royce? Go away!
.
As a former Engineer at RollsRoyce Plc, I have to admit that the technology used in manufacture is protected by the Official Secrets Act. The reason for this is that RollsRoyce is the only company in the world that assures the safety of passengers: Period. A fact that the British Company is proud of and, most other manufacturers will evade this guarantee or assurance.
If so then why the Concord disaster?, that is a very good point ; The fault was not in the engines but debris on the runway.
So if passengers wish to travel peacefully and enjoyment then only RollsRoyce Aircraft engines can provide and guarantee this. So happy flying!
Così mi piace ....straordinario, stupefacente ok.
