    I'd love to be able to adjust sample chops with the nobs on my controller, as the screen can just be a touch fiddly when making those chops.
    The beautiful thing is that it's totally possible given the nature of Koala!
    Thanks for the videos man!

    • @playpm
      @playpm  3 года назад +1

      I feel you man, but I guess it's not easy to design the mapping workflow, if long samples short samples shares the same 128 midi value then you'll always find another way fine tuning chop heads. So what i did is chop it with touch screen, like I'm using a modern MPC ;)

    • @playpm
      @playpm  3 года назад +2

      You can watch some videos on maschine mk3 editing midi notes with knobs only, it's clunky as hell without the help of touch screen.

    • @anjovimusic
      @anjovimusic 3 года назад +1

      @@playpm ah! i see! It didn't even occur to me to think about how fiddly the midi knobs might be in comparison to the knobs of an sp.
      I think my ideal would be first using the screen to navigate the sample and then using the knob to just adjust it a smidgeon to finalize the chop. I did see others using a little tablet pen though, which I'm going to try out at some point.

    • @playpm

    This is wonderful. I used the Koala app with Beatstep Pro, but this is another level. Thanks 🙏. For the one saying I’m selling my 404. Honestly with the Koala app I have been able to make music and beats that would have requested hours of work with classic gear. I’m a dawless man but Koala is great 😊

    I didn't get the thing for the play and record button... I watched it 10 times but I don't get it... 🤦🏻‍♂️😅

      Firstly I set these two buttons into momentary mode in controller editor, then map them onto Play and Record, you might need to try it out on a controller to get my point lol

    Hey Michael. I enjoyed the video so much I've downloaded Koala and bought a nanokontrol2 to start getting into beat making. You've saved me a lot of money.
    Although I'm having an issue mapping the pads to koala for some reason. I've managed to get everything else mapped but not the actual sample pads. Any idea what I could be doing wrong? I downloaded youe settings file, but I don't quite know what to do with it. Sorry, I'm very new to this. 😂

      Hi, you can try open midi mapping in koala settings, this will allow you map your pads as will

      I've mapped all the dial and slide functions to my nanokontrol2, using the midi mapper in koala sampler. But for some reason I cannot map the sample pads using the same method. I have no idea why. 🤷‍♂️

      Lol I actually complained a little bit for having loose slider caps when I got my nanokontrol in hand, but after pairing it with koala I just peel all of them of with smile.

      Pardon my french.

    I found that Koala is really buggy on both phone and the Mac, and annoying to use.
    It's also 4.99 but then you have to upgrade to have full feature set; it's impossible to do anything without piano roll, for example.
    With all things considered, Andrew Huang's Flip is a much better deal, it offers much more for similar price. If it only had Mac support, it would be perfect...

    • @playpm
      @playpm  2 года назад

      You can report the bug to the developer, this is the only way to make it worth your money.

      yeah flip on mac would be cool; I woulda thought it'd at least be available for the M1 mac, but nope.
      in fact the ios version of koala runs way better on mac than the actual mac version, which I found out when the dev answered to a problem I had within a couple hours. the dev is awesome! and for the money, even with samurai unlock, koala is an absolute steal. IMO a dev who gives a f*ck deserves to get paid.
      and herein lies the rub: when comparing apps like that, about the first thing I check is: how frequent are the updates? how responsive, helpful are the devs and how long does it take them to implement features the community wants?
      things over at flip seem to move pretty slowy, which makes me more reluctant to part with my money.
